Palmer Luckey issue statement on actions on Nimble America

Bloke is obviously a gigantic twat. It's a real shame because he could go down in history as one of the most important innovators to have existed. But still, quite clearly a gigantic twat. Such is life.

This is what it looks like when a billionaire is staring the loss of his entire fortune in the face.

If this is directly from Oculus ( and not facebook proper) it makes sense that its worded the way it is and yet was easily taken down by the screenshots.

This is the same PR group that has been running the messy ship with all of their other PR foibles.

IMO, they have not shown to be the best at PR in the past, and if its the same people, that makes this statement make more sense.

Maybe it's me just being Canadian but what is Thai nimble america and what makes them racist?

Legit question because I don't have a clue, never heard of them and can't find a real answer online.

I didn't realize Palmer Luckey could induce more cringe in me than he did with that TIME cover.

Oh Jesus... Thank you for pinpointing the exact feeling I'm having right now. Cringe.

Also, can someone Photoshop that TIME image to one of him pulling a dumpster on fire? Or in one? Please and thank you.

Along with Luckey, Nimble America was founded by two moderators of Reddit’s r/The_Donald, which helped popularize Trump-themed white supremacist and anti-Semitic memes along with 4Chan and 8Chan. A questionnaire to become a moderator at r/The_Donald posted in March had applicants answer the questions “Is there a difference between white nationalism and white supremacy?” and “Was 9/11 an inside job?”

Nimble America says it’s dedicated to proving that “shitposting is powerful and meme magic is real,” according to the company’s introductory statement, and has taken credit for a billboard its founders say was posted outside of Pittsburgh with a cartoonishly large image of Clinton’s face alongside the words “Too Big to Jail.”

So he apologizes, but had nothing to do with it. Got it.

Well, to be fair, he does acknowledge the donation to a controversial group. That's the basis of the faux apology and why he's not being remorseful. He's acknowledging that any association with that group might reflect poorly on the company, and he's sorry about that.

Anyone that supports trump is a white supremacist and bigot, duh.

Man, Facebook better do the smart thing and throw Luckey's ass out of the company if they want to protect the future of Oculus. If not, they are not going to forget this for a long time.

If this PR bomb doesn't get defused soon (if we can even still talk about defusing and not cleaning up the debris), I could honestly see Facebook just taking Oculus' VR tech and completely rebranding it. After they've gotten rid of Luckey, obviously.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
I feel like TDB getting tricked by a poser is pretty unlikely, because Palmer admitted to donating the money. If it was somebody impersonating him, it would have to be someone close to him, or at least with knowledge of his involvement.

I feel like this is what is happening.

He should respond directly to the Daily Beast' email screenshots, and clarify on whether it is indeed from him directly or someone pretending to be him.

..this whole fiasco has actually gotten me interested in VR, haha. Who would've thought. I'll have a look at Vive and PSVR and see what that's about.

What on earth are you talking about? You do you, but don't try to tone-police the rest of us.

The fuck are you talking about. Support whatever you want, just like I'll blast you for supporting hate filled ignorance.

I think his contributions are gross and this apology read as an "oopsy-daisy and non-apoligietic" I'm not quite sure where you got that reading from my post. the Nimble America stuff is gross beyond belief, as well as any and all Trump supporting. I'm not sure what prompted your responses. Last night when this broke, I offered my utter disgust.

Edit: I have no idea I was quoted on this. What he did with Nimble America is gross. Are the people quoting me mistaking me?

Keyword "internet" The source of all truth that would never mislead us in anyway. Sarcasm.

"The Internet" meaning Palmer Luckey and his girlfriend's Twitter accounts along with a yet-to-be refuted Daily Beast piece that claims Luckey himself as a source. Not Yahoo! Answers, your uncle Terry's Facebook page "The Internet."

Lol, he's sorry this shit is going to impact public perception of Oculus, he's not sorry about his actions.

Why would he be sorry about his actions? He's completely delusional. He's gonna be sorry when the shareholders start asking questions, though.

Maybe The Daily Beast is just more incompetent than we're giving them credit for. We're going to look mighty silly when the email address is revealed to be XXXTheRealPalmerLuckey69XXX@hotmail.com.

Somewhere a diabolical overseer is reading this and saying" Yes, my plan worked. Yes my children, spread hate throughout the world, it gives me life"

That's true. I haven't read through the thread in full yet, so I may be a bit behind if there's been any updates or further information. It's a very questionable statement, especially when calling into question The Daily Beast. That might bring out verification and corroboration on their part, which he most certainly will not want.

Edit: Seems that process has already started!

The Hollywood Reporter said:
When asked for comment, a representative from Oculus directed The Hollywood Reporter to Luckey's Facebook post.

That doesn't seem like a good thing to do. We need an official statement from Oculus/Facebook themselves.
