Palmer Luckey issue statement on actions on Nimble America

It frustrates me that people treat white nationalism/white supremacy as merely a "difference of opinion". Like preferring pizza over pasta.

As long as a presidential nominee spouts these rhetorics, this will continue. It's ridiculous how normal and accepted these opinions could become.

They ran with the "The SJWs wanna take away your DOA volleyball game, buy from us" approach to marketing.

They still go with this type of marketing too. They've even made call out and mocking posts of people too. Their PR guy will never get fired for any of the crap their doing though because it's clear from the higher ups it's bringing in money.

Wait, what's that about? Is Play-Asia a shitty company?
They're owned by gamergaters who took advantage of the controversy surrounding doax3 not getting a US release by making a series of tweets along the lines of "those baby SJWs don't want you to have your anime boobs but we're here to save you!"

When people called them out for being shitty they doubled down and started retweeting GGers

Months later they did an "April fools" where they said they'd stop selling controversial games to make their site a safe space for SJWs

Just a really shitty company

"We believe that the VR community needs to stick together and if we fight among ourselves then we could cause harm to this new medium."

Ahh yes. Because this is all about VR. Let's stick together and fight the good fight!
Ahh, to be so unaffected by the issues at stake in this election that one's chief concern could remain to be video game platforms.

So glad that I haven't bought into VR because I probably would've gone for the oculus. Now I get to never make that mistake!

It looks like FB is gonna keep him on board, which is disgusting. Get that shit outta here.

The only reason I believe Nimble Rich Man isn't him is this:

I doubt that Luckey's ever known Trump, been in contact with Trump, or would be in the position to give him advice of any kind.

But still, he's fallen far from where I thought of him before. :(

Douchebag. Yes, me.
All morning my head has been spinning that Oculus and Facebook are supporting this guy after he admitted to funding a racist alt-right organization.

I mean what the fuck is going on?

Have we as a society seriously entered a place where being an outright racist/misogyinist is just considered a slight "difference of opinion"?

This is the literal email Palmer sent to the Daily Beast journalist:

Which makes it just mind boggling why he would lie in his statement yesterday saying he didn't post as NimbleRichGuy when there is direct evidence from his mouth saying he did.

The biggest problem of this election is that people are behaving like Dodo birds. We've gone so long without a crazed maniac wanting to basically usurp power for his own personal gain that the rest of the people simply don't know how to respond to a clear predator. They either choose to do nothing or insist in treating him the way they've treated every other politician before. They don't realize the clear danger when they see it.

Having a successful kickstarter is apparently "working his way to the top".
He got insanely Luckey that John Carmack just happened to be doing research into HMDs at the time he was putting together a prototype Rift on the MTBS forums. Were it not for Carmack asking Palmer to borrow his prototype to take with him to E3, the Kickstarter might not have even happened.

1) It's easier than ever to get in touch with anyone. Tweet at celebrities, email them or their representatives, send letters to them. Dream that maybe they saw it. The statement doesn't imply that NimbleRichMan personally knows Trump, only that he "encouraged" him. You can encourage Hillary to do something right now if you like, just hop on over to Twitter.

2) Palmer didn't own the account. It's possible his own posts were vetted in advance and edited by Nimble America, perhaps even in an effort to hide who might be the NimbleRichMan.

How are we even questioning this any more. The Daily Beast has an email where Palmer explicitly states he is NimbleRichMan to the journalist:

Having a successful kickstarter and demoing Valve tech is apparently "working his way to the top".

From ages 11 to 16, he experimented with a variety of high-voltage electronics projects including coil guns, Tesla coils, and lasers. He built a PC costing tens of thousands of U.S. dollars with an elaborate six-monitor setup. He had an intense interest in virtual reality (VR), and built an extensive private collection of over 50 different head-mounted displays.

Yes I know. He lived in a well off family and is well educated in what he does. That doesn't equate to starting from nothing and becoming a near billionaire by himself. He was in the right place at the right time in terms of what happened and who knows if Oculus would had been bought by facebook if Valve weren't working with them at the time.

Don't fault the guy for pulling himself up by his bootstraps at age 6.

I'm well past teenage years and I've only got two monitors. If only I had pulled a little tighter.

My point was that he didn't "start from nothing". I think we are in agreement.

Well, his parents had money which certainly helped him along the way but you're really selling short the things he's done. Krejlocc broke it down well earlier in the thread.

Has it been proven conclusively that it is out of the question that specific post was written by someone else than him?

Seriously, read the thread. I've literally posted the email that Palmer sent to the Daily Beast reporter verifying that he is NimbleRichGuy twice on this very page.

It looks like you can just outright lie about stuff you said even though there is evidence you are lying and it changes the narrative these days.

Fucking sad.

Apologizes. Thought you meant he was working hard at a young age or something and that's why he's where he's at.

Yes I know. I'm not saying he did nothing. He's very intelligent and played a role in where he is now, but he didn't do it alone and it wasn't without a lot of luck.

Taking my rift to the gun range tomorrow, Cuz murica. Will youtube.

Why not just sell it and make some money off it yourself, robbing them of a sale. seems better than wasting your 600 dollars cause dude himself is a racist. or if you're feeling charitable, sell it to someone for half the price.

Okay we have the mail where he admitted to writing and sponsoring Nimble America, but what if it was him under coercion by the government aliens controlled by unchecked Muslims?

I think we know who is REALLY behind this smear campaign... The Annunaki have infiltrated the media completely.

Some super cool developers announcing support for Oculus because of this shitshow.

We believe that the VR community needs to stick together and if we fight among ourselves then we could cause harm to this new medium.

...and if that means our fearless leader is a total racist shitbag then so be it. As long as nobody says mean things about about our expensive toys because that's the most important thing here.

fuck. you.

i wonder what the train of thought is for someone to deny something and then confirm it through mail immediately after (or it's the other way around?)
i mean it's the internet we are talking about here..whatever you say in whatever place is gonna be screengrabbed and preserved

He sent that email a long time before making his "apology" lol. Maybe he thought they'd be nice and not point out that they already mentioned the emails.

I think it's a cynical ploy to make people question the validity of the actual truth. He is attempting to change the narrative... and it is unfortunately somewhat working as evidenced in this very thread with people asking if it's been verified after reading Palmer's lie.

He's attempting to take the narrative from "Racist misogyinistic reddit poster Palmer Luckey" to "alleged racist misogyinistic reddit poster Palmer Luckey"

Plus, NimbleRichMan supports Trump while Luckey is simple a Johnson (and freedom) supporting libertarian.

Since they are in a way supporting Trump, this means they are racist right?
I think it means they're desperate for PR and probably stupid.

He has already shown as confirming being NimbleRichMan in an email conversation with the daily mail from before this story broke.

That may be him just establishing an "alibi" of sorts. In another comment made by Nimblerichman, he says he's aware of how damaging it could be if his name came out. Since he's favourited pro-Trump tweets and attended a rally, some people could make an educated guess that NRM is Luckey. To prevent that, he makes up a line about knowing Trump for years.

It was Lucky, he lied and got caught. The guy is seemingly a pathological liar if you look at the kickstarter campaign until now. He's lied about almost every single thing he's said in public, why wouldn't he lie while disguised as NRM? This is ridiculous, stop trying to apologize for this guy.

Him admitting to funding the racist alt-right org but then lying about being a Trump supporter and saying he isn't NimbleRichMan may be a ploy to get people riled up and talk about him lying about things that aren't as bad as him giving miney to racists, thus shifting the narrative away from the worst aspect of this thing.

EDIT: Jesus this whole situation is so unbelievable look at that ridiculous theory my brain came up with to make sense of it.
