Probably won't be available till late/post-game very OP otherwise.
they said "the spell" was late game. we've seen a cinematic of noct putting on the ring, and we know Luna has the ring, and we know noct gets it. Whatever you gain from that isn't a spoiler.
If you want more cadence to your point, look at the esrb blerb about the game. lots of implications there.
Other than slight lighting improvements, higher resolution, and ever so slight better draw distance you're right
I pretty much expect that pc build to be what we get for ps4pro users
Hmm, seems the difference isn't as big as I thought.
It really doesn't. I'm not seeing a difference outside of time of day changes.

It's not like they are exploding in some blood splatter.
Not really. It's grim, sure, but lots of FFs have had a death spell. It really isn't graphic at all a la MK, but it IS extra creepy, that's for sure.
I'm curious about any lore associated with the spell. It looks less like a traditional FF death spell, and more like some kind of gravity attack, as if the enemy is collapsing in on itself.
Noctis was legit laughing as he was casting Death on one of the Goblins. Anyone catch that?
Where do people always see the better lighting, draw distance or higher resolution on small, low quality screencaps? XD
It's like with the shitty quality Pro footage that we got to see a couple of weeks ago and everyone was like: "OMG, that looks so much better, the textures, the lighting, the foliage, the draw distance!! O:"
Yeah...surprise, the Pro version of FFXV will very likely just get the 4K resolution bump plus HDR and nothing more. Everything else is the exact same as in the PS4 version.
Has anybody thought of the following...?
What if they run their PC captured footage with the specs of or close to the PS4 or Xbox One, so that the players will get a good picture of what they are actually getting too instead of running their PC footage of the game with specs that the consoles will never be able to handle?
That's what makes it so disturbing. You can see their bones and flesh WARPING, before exploding into a bloody mist.
And that makes this problematic because death should not be a laughing matter like this. Disturbing and absolutely disgusting. I hope Square doesnt take the future of FF down this path.
I thought FF7 death magic was way more disturbing,
playing a vinyl record backwards like the exorcist movie and this huge shirigami cooking humans on a caldron or whatever.
Both of these points are true here. The Pro footage they showed off did indeed look like a better build than we had seen to that point. NOW we know that the same general build should be available for non-pro owners as well, but people didn't know to know that at the time.
It looks more like a magenta firework and some black specks, to me. It implies grotesquery without being literal or gory about it.That's what makes it so disturbing. You can see their bones and flesh WARPING, before exploding into a bloody mist.

4 guys slashing away on a monster while it's lying on the ground doesn't look less violent either. Or setting them on fire or electrocute them with magic. That's what makes it so disturbing. You can see their bones and flesh WARPING, before exploding into a bloody mist.

They haven't really officially detailed the Pro enhancements yet. That's just some others and my assessment based on what we've seen and heard so far from them and other developers.
Well first off, he was laughing after he got hit not as he was casting the spell. But death is a laughing matter to demons and monsters. In FFX, the death spell calls down a reaper that chuckles before it takes the soul of a monster. You seem to be exaggerating to me, but opinions I guess. And that makes this problematic because death should not be a laughing matter like this. Disturbing and absolutely disgusting. Regarding the Pro footage maybe, but what about these small, low quality screens of different locations and at a different time of day?
You can't possibly see if the lighting there is any better. There's also not more vegetation than in the Xbox One shot (on the contrary actually) and LOD is also near impossble to judge when everything in the background in these images is too small and too blurry to make out.

Oh, I'm totally with you in general. Especially when you get these clips from these horribly compressed streams. Some of the comments from some of the people when they showed that cave footage, I wanna say during Gamescom, make me shake my head.
But, honestly, it's always driven me nuts when people are focused on the graphics on all of these demos (more the older ones, now it's actually appropriate) when they're trying to show us some new mechanic or something and all people are doing it critiquing the graphics they're flat out telling everyone haven't been optimized yet. It's like people go out of their way to miss the point.
Why is that likely?
They've had kits for a while now, somehow I think it'll be more than basic after Game Watch's report. They were particularly harsh on the Gamescom build.Yeah, I know. I'm not claiming anything here, I'm just saying, I think the Pro patch It's going to be the bare minimum of checkerboard upscaling and HDR support.
I would be glad if there's more...but I very much doubt it.
I'm actually pretty focused on graphics, lol. ;D I'm a designer and illustrator, I can't help myself. I think the visuals of a game are actually a very big and import part of any game.
If I directly compare something, which I actually have often done in this forum before, I try to be reasonable and fair though. I would be very careful comparing two small, low quality screenshots with different locations and different times of day.
Because the Pro patch does not seem very high on their priority list, they said so themselves, and because with other developers it is also the exception that they offer more modes than checkerboard upscaling. A 1080p mode with additional graphical bells and whistles or a 1088p mode with 60 fps but similar graphical quality to the base versions...nah...I really don't think so.
Anyone else think that this trailer was too violent?
I mean, making something explode from the inside out in a final fantasy game seems... iunno.. a bit much. This isnt Mortal Kombat. So why have that spell?
Can't wait to see the improvements. Been waiting to get this and a Pro together. They've had kits for a while now, somehow I think it'll be more than basic after Game Watch's report. They were particularly harsh on the Gamescom build.
Benzy, my man, where are your new open-world games comparison collages now with the recent footage, especially compared to TW3!?Bring on the Pro upgrades BD2.
Alright, guys, let's remind ourselves how the Witcher 3 actually looks like on console (PS4). Images are by me:

Just stumpled upon this comparison from weeks ago, lol:

Btw, I'm not shading TW3. It's probably my GOTG (let's hope only until FFXV). Just curious how they compare and if FFXV will be the new gold standard for open-world RPGs.

Thanks for... clearing that up?
I think I saw the Wasps in Kingsglaive, right ? they were looking a lot like those in the movie...

Waiting until they show off more open foresty areas to compare which is where Witcher excels, probably won't be able to get anything until release day though. Also I dislike using youtube captures compared to lossless direct-feed.

I dunno if they made some significant lighting upgrades since a month ago but the lighting in Xbox footage looked awesome in the forest dungeon.

Beach resort in the beginning area:I think the game looks pretty good, if not incredibly diverse in its environments.
Have they shown any beaches?

They showed the beach near Galdin Quay. I wouldn't be surprise if there are more beach areas around the map.I think the game looks pretty good, if not incredibly diverse in its environments.

LOL, oops. I mean... not that I would say no to that, though.eeeh!?

If you want to blame someone, blame SE for parading around with Luminous Engine as it were a gift from God.
why death works on a machine? anyway, not a fan. makes the enemies looks like glitches
It is weird, which is part of why I'm wondering if the spell is actually some kind of gravity manipulation/black hole spell.

SE definitely gets a share of blame as well, but I don't blame them ultimately. I really don't. The marketing has been up and down, but quite frankly, a huge section of this fanbase is absolutely toxic. Just one of the most toxic fanbase for anything I've seen out there, and it's coloring everything to do with this game.
There are actually precious few places on the internet where you can have an intelligent discussion about this game without some kind of hyperbolic meltdown over something that has nothing to do with the point. You could easily make the argument that that is also because of SE's track record prior to the organizational refocus and I won't argue against that, either. But, it doesn't matter that they've done everything humanly possible to show how they've turned it around, it doesn't matter what they do, they're damned either way.
Besides, when was the last time they paraded Luminous? Not to mention that it's looking pretty good lately.
So, I keep coming back to this. We all seem to be on board with there being more Ring based spells, but all they did was equip the ring in the demo. I wonder if it's something that has some of the effects at first, like slow, maybe a demi, and that death spell is just all of them put together?

They talked about it recently at CEDEC.

And honestly, all fanbases have their corners of toxicity. Let's not single FF fans out here.
