Splatoon |OT4| You're a detriment to your squad

I'm pretty sure that just indicates the number of slots for perks that they start with. Of course, Spyke allows you to add additional slots to 1 and 2 star items to bring them up to the max of 3.

Yeah I've added slots, it just seems off that all my gear is 2 star and not 3 star

I assumed 3 star gear was better even with me adding slots to 1 and 2 star gear

There's no practical difference except for two things:
1. lower star gear have a lower experience requirement to level up each slot (even if slots are added. The third slot for 1 star gear that is added on takes less to fill than the third slot of a 3 star gear).
2. It will affect how many slots the gear will have if someone buys it off spyke and they're unlucky (if they're lucky, it will have the same number of slots as who they bought it off of).

So upgraded 1 star gear with 3 slots added is the same as 3 star gear? If both pieces had the same 4 perks they would be exactly the same?

God it sucks when you get someone on your team who is crap. Why do some players think it's a viable tactic to avoid all action and forever build up an inkstrike?

The inkstrike is good and all but when it's 4 v 3 for the entire match because muggins over there is miles away painting the far corners of the map it never results in victory

Correct. Except, one piece will look fresher than the other. Which is the most important.

Part of what I like of Splatoon is that it has room for different play-styles. Even ones where a player can contribute without going on a murder spree.

Yeah and that is great, but sometimes you come across players who just seem to want to do one thing regardless of whether it helps the team or not

Another question, on the results page, does it line up the players based on who performed the best to worst, and if so what metric does it use?

Sometimes I end up at the top and have 2 kills and 6 deaths, but I took that to mean I captured more of the splat zone than my teammates, but then sometimes I'm 3rd or 4th when I have 12 kills and 2 deaths, so in that case does it judge me to be the 3rd or 4th best player because I was too busy getting kills to capture the zone?

If you're talking about how players are organized on the scoreboard in ranked modes, the order is determined by your win/loss record over your past 10 games. So if you've been winning more of your matches, you'll appear at the top. It doesn't really amount to much.

As true as that probably is, I'd like to believe that it's this crap-ass meta that really killed the squids.

Fuck carbon roller
Fuck custom hydra (and whoever decided to give it light loss what the actual hell)
Fuck bamboozler having the range it does
Fuck carbon roller
Fuck the 2.7(?) patch that destroyed the .96 Gal's bullets
Fuck N-zap's run speed advantage giving it Naked Dunban levels of magical evasion
Fuck wonk-ass inkzooka hitboxes that kill you well beyond where the shot actually goes
Fuck carbon roller.

I still think Squiffer vs Bamboo is a bit lopsided, especially considering the Bamboozler's ability to hit 99.9. Squiffer really needs the charge speed to be buffed to .6s, have some sort of movement buff, or have equivalent range to the Bamboo. I mean, I know there are Squifferbots around, but DaUp Bamboo played optimally outclasses any Squifferbot IMO. The only advantage Squiffer has against DaUp Bamboo is a guaranteed OHKO shot from corner peeking.

I'd like Ryechu and SM to share their thoughts on the matchup.

I used to love tower control but now I think it's the worst mode. I always seem to die a dozen times and scrape a few kills, and my team never seem to know what they're doing

If I'm on the tower alone and we're a few seconds away from taking the lead and i'm screaming "to me" over and over as we just need to keep the tower going for a few more seconds and none of them come it's infuriating. Do they not want to win? Do they not understand the rules of the game?

At least you can somewhat act alone in the other modes (though it's much easier with the help of your team when they decide to play as a team)

I played a few hours of tower control last night and saw my rank fall from high B+ to low B, then back to high B once it had changed to splat zones

Does anyone else feel this way?

The Squids can vacation in Alola and do their Turf War when their games release on Switch.

This is me, except other games too.

Yep, and the sad part is that some of this mentality exists in higher ranks as well. =/

I don't understand why they can't have 2 game modes in ranked at any one time

Keep the 2 maps for each mode, but why not have Splat Zones or Rainmaker both active, each with their own 2 maps, and then Turf Wars, with it's separate 2 maps, then rotate them

If the maps or mode in ranked are not ones I enjoy, then it's disheartening knowing you could have to wait up to 4 hours before they change them

I also don't find Turf Wars that much fun so when the ranked mode sucks there isn't much for me

The whole game was designed around the assumption that it would only be a moderate success or less. That's why the mode options are so limited at any one time and why Spyke is such a troll.

I'm sure the map/mode situation and Spyke RNG would've been altered if they had estimated a big success. Still, they really should have just done 3 maps per 2 or 4 hours after Splatfest support ended.

Sad day for Splatoon Koshien as the 7 regions have finished and despite increasing the teams allowed to compete in the Finals by almost 50%, only 1 female has made it versus the 3 from last year. There's still 2 new slots up for grabs at JumpFesta and the usual 3 from Kanto, so hopefully something happens.

squiffer vs bamboo is terrible. squiffer needs move speed and charge speed buff.

The more I play the worse I'm getting

Sometimes my team mates are crap but when you lose 4/5 ranked matches in a row you have to look at yourself and wonder if it's down to you

My wife and I roll as a pair (mostly only playing Rainmaker), and my god, it's absolutely hit or miss if you end up with a decent team or a couple of dog fuckers.

I've been using the Sploosh-O-Matic 7 a ton lately and god damn I love it. I sometimes switch in the Heavy Splatling Remix. Sheldon's Picks are all pretty great.

And yeah, fuck carbon rollers forever.

I want to like S7, but I think I'm just not good with Splooshes in general. I used to play them more often, just to contrast against my usual play style and force myself to do something different, but I don't play them often enough to have lessons stick to me.

Heavy Splatling Remix I like a lot for sure though. Imo it's better than the Kelp Splat Charger. I don't get OHKOs, but I kill very quickly anyway and I get much more flexible turf coverage.

Don't forget that run speed.

Fall down (you might have to do it from a decent height to better notice) as a squid into ink and you'll see. *plop*

That's a dramatization, and at best it's a representation of spreading out into the ink.

There's no depth to the ink, you can't sink in.
