Rumor: Hidetaka Miyazaki (FromSoftware) and Kentaro Miura (Beserk) working on collab

OK, If this turns out to a Berserk Souls game I will sell my soul to obtain it.

If this turn out to be true that Fromsoft is working on a berserk game then it will be unlike any of the souls game in most areas. Summons wouldn't make sense, expect one playable character with one build meaning guts and it would lose a lot of the weapon variety in usual souls game. I'm all in for berserk from them but Berserk souls as a expectation would be naive based on the concept.

Unless it's a Bloodborne sequel, I can't muster much enthusiasm for whatever this is.

Wow everything souls including Bloodborne owes it to Berserk for existing in the first place.

I'll believe this dude when he proves he leaked those Bloodborne webms.

I'm going to side with this rumor being true-

I did a similar summer program in Japan as the reddit poster damn near 10 years ago now. We got to go to Madhouse, FeelPlus, and a couple other studios... and while we weren't allowed any photography once you're inside- they didn't make us sign any kind of NDA... I definitely saw stuff that wasn't announced at the time.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
i enjoyed Gigantomakia a lot so i would ok with that.

taking the feedback from KT's Berserk game, i hope they didnt blew any chance to make repairs.

I would love something based on Gigantomakhia as the world Miura created in basically 6 chapters was incredibly cool. That and it would be awesome to have a game that focused on wrestling moves and then scaled it up to Megazord/Godzilla sized battles where you're pile driving your opponent into the planet from outerspace.

If true I doubt it will be a game. A Berserk game, or any game with Berserk-style art, would be too similar to Dark Souls, and they're tried of making Soulsy dark fantasy stuff.

My bet would be on an original manga one off series or book, or maybe Berserk spin off book or short anime series or something, with Miyazaki having writing credit. Or a Miyazaki film documentary about Miura, or some kind of fashion line. Or Idol Master, as someone said.

the disgusting fucked up things these two men can come up with, it will be glorious.

Its going to be a dating game where you have to manage your relationship with Lovecraftian monsters and balance romance with not going insane. Also who gets what gift on Valentines Day.

If true hopefully it isn't a Berserk game made like a Souls game. Berserk should play nothing like that, the player as Guts should always wreck. If Dark Souls is "Prepare to Die" then Berserk should be "Prepare to Kill." That said, From has made different games before so no reason they can't make a more standard hack-n-slash action game. Just don't pull a Ninja Blade on us and make it full of QTEs.

I hope it's not a Berserk game, the Souls games and Bloodborne already have all the good parts of Berserk without the gross characterisation and tone of the manga.

I would like From Software to try create a new and refreshing setting more than anything else, a Berserk game is not that.

So the guy removed the post...

Honestly showing up uninvited and without an appointment to try and meet your "heroes" is a bit creepy in the first place. And then turning around and leaking potentially confidential information you gleaned during those visits all the while talking about how much you love and respect these people is kind of fucked up.

Dark Souls is great because it lets you be any type of character in that sort of universe. I dont understand the point of From making a Berserk game just to limit themselves on what they could produce. I agree, its time to hang this franchise up and try something new.

Best reply.

End me. How did this get lost in translation? I wonder if that's not the case, and perhaps they just don't want new information leaking out? ...Lol, what am I saying, this project was just a fantasy too real to come true.

Bring on Bloodborne 2!

oh wow, here's hoping they didn't just sit down to have a cup of coffee.

edit: ah, nevermind then. There's still Berserk Musou coming so I'm not that disappointed.

Gigantomakhia was a 6 part one off series Miura did a few years back as a bit of a pallet cleanser. It takes place on Earth 1 million years in the future where humanity has evolved into several different species and technological super civilizations have come and gone. Its very different in tone and style than Berserk as its not nearly as dark or gruesome and the main character is a burly wrestler goofball who is accompanied by a super computer like organism that happens to look like a little girl (of course).

The basic story is the two protags are searching for a civilization of bug people that they're trying to help stave off the advances of a world spanning empire that uses... well giants and other monsters to take defeat and conquer their enemies. Eventually you get some crazy giant fights with even more wrestling. There are also golden showers...

Well, there is the whole evil spirits come out at night thing with berserk. Guts also trabels with companions, so co-op vs other players as evil spirits is possible and would make sense. Don't just say unsubstantiated stuff.

Still, too bad there is no collaboration going on. Couldve been sweet.

Yeah, just wanted to share his newest blogpost and you guys beat me to it lol. He says that it was an mistake on his part and he had no malintent to spread bullshit rumors (which I believe since he's an enthusiastic artist and not a news outlet or insider).

So yeah, let's keep on dreaming brehs

LOL, in retrospect it didn't make any sense when Tecmo Koei are the ones making Berserk games right now.
There are a couple interpretations that range from plausible to dreamy headcanon:

  • Fromsoft making a literal Berserk game -- this depends heavily how publisher licensing is negotiated in Japan. A Tecmo/Koei game doesn't necessarily lock out a game by a different studio if the JP manga publisher is the one calling the shots.
  • Fromsoft formally collaborating with Murata on a random game - possible, and explains why he was hanging around
  • Murata occasionally hanging around the studio, giving some friendly feedback on concepts for various games -- plausible, and possibly has been going on forever but without a gaudy public statement
  • Murata coincidentally visiting the day that guy was there -- what the guy is now inferring

I doubt even the guy isn't fully aware of what he walked in on, although if we're realistic, it's more likely the more casual end of that spectrum.

Just want to point its Kentaro Miura who is behind Berserk. Murata is the artist behind One Punch Man.

God dammit all.

We're never getting a good Berserk game, are we?

PS2 Berserk was good, and you can now even play it in English via a translation patch.

Also a Berserk game from From wouldn't be a guaranteed good game. I feel like its style would work better with Platinum.

Oh well. Thought it was too good to be true.

Dark Souls isn't the only game From have made you know; Otogi and Ninja Blade had fast paced combat systems and were good (especially Otogi). I think From could do it.

Makes me feel like he could actually adapt Conan The Barbarian pretty well.

Moral of the story: don't try to leak something if you don't speak the language or are 100% certain of your translator.

Also don't leak it under your real name if you ever hoped to have anything to do with those people again.

Also don't believe things you read on the internet.
