What would be the perfect ending for FF VII Remake episode I?

Definately after the bike chase at the conclusion of the escape from Shinra HQ where we see our first look of the world beyond Midgar.

The entire will be about Cloud sleeping on the train and when he finally arrives at the station, it ends. Episode 2 will be about the walk from the train station to the reactor. By episode 2943 you'll finally meet Aerith(lisp).

They'll probably fuck it up and insert some of the Godawful Crisis Core nonsense I there too...
I swear, if Angeal or Genesis show up in the remake, count me out for part 2.

I'm with you. FFVII compilation addition to the overall story are garbage tier.

I can see them doing a 3 game structure.

Part 1: Midgar/Leaving to the west continent
Part 2: Everything up until Aertih's death
Part 3: Endgame

I think this would be perfect. So SE won't do it. We'll get them blowing their wad on Midgar, making that an entire part 1, and the rest of the better overall story will suffer and be a rush job.

End of Disc 1 would be fine

I think an episode for each disc would be fair
Nah, the disks don't spread the game evenly. Disk 3 is just endgame content and the final dungeon.

The natural stopping points for Episode 1 would be either to finish at the end of Midgar, leaving the whole encapsulated in the one city and leaving off on a climax, or at the inn in Kalm so that there's a bit of a breather before the next part. Aesthetically, keeping it all in Midgar feels a lot more neat.

Hard to guess without knowing how many episode's they're making or how much of the garbage from CC they're putting in. Either leaving Midgar or Junon probably

I'd be way hyped for an all Midgar game honestly. Take what's there, expand it to like a 15+ hour action game

I also think they will expand Midgar and add elements from Crisis Core. I would like if the game ended at Kalm (they would need to add something else to give the game closure and a final boss), with the vision of Sephiroth walking through the flames being used as cliffhanger.

Is this the general consensus? I enjoyed Crisis Core.

I enjoyed the gameplay and the pick up and play portable nature of it... But the story additions Crisis Core made to FFVII lore are trash.

The music was really good though, Zack's theme is the only Final Fantasy music I've bothered to transcribe for guitar... Well except Shadow's theme...

Having literally the first third of the game devoted entirely towards Midgar would be absolutely horrible.

You're probably right, though.

You realize SE never confirmed how many parts there will be. People just think it's going to be no more than 3 for some reason.

I can see them doing a 3 game structure.

Part 1: Midgar/Leaving to the west continent
Part 2: Everything up until Aertih's death
Part 3: Endgame

Too much happens in disc 2 for this to work:
Sephiroth summoning meteor, the WEAPONs appearing, the party breaking out of prison, the search for Cloud, the hunt for the black materia (including a journey to the bottom of the sea and outer space), the return to Midgar and fight with Hojo.

But considering the pacing of FFXV, this is probably what they'll go with.

Wait, has it even been confirmed it's going to be 3 parts? Anything more than that is overkill (especially if these are full priced titles), but still...

Leaving Midgar seems like the obvious choice. I think the flashback would be a good opening for the second game and it where it becomes more of an open world game.

I think Midgar will probably be the first part, leaving them time to dedicate to the environment that we'll by and large never be able to visit again, avoiding any jarring transitions between that section and any part of the second episode that takes place outside Midgar, and letting them focus on polishing other parts of the world for subsequent episodes.

I could see them taking the story as far as Junon, though, with the caveat that we never get to fully explore that section of the world map ever again.

I see many people saying the first game would only feature Midgar but this seens like a big mistake. Only Midgar would mean really thin content I guess.

That's assuming there won't be expanded content in Midgar. They said this is a remake, not a remaster, so it's very likely we'll get some, if not a substantial amount, of new stuff in Midgar

Thin on content? How? Assuming we get 3 games, I could very well see part 1 ending with them escaping Midgar. Everything up to that can be expanded upon, which I hope they do, because despite all the FF7 games I still want to know more about Midgar. I would say we can expect a very realized Midgar with a lot of places to go in the city.

First Jenova fight on the trip to Costa del Sol. Still think that cutting the game up by Jenova fights (boat/crater) give nice ends to arcs and the reveal of larger things to come. Maybe Aeris death in there instead of the crater fight...but that does leave quite a bit for the final game.

Absolutely agreed. Jenova Birth is the perfect cutoff point.

I love the idea of them fleshing Midgar out and letting us explore more of the city, but I hope that's not the entirety of the first episode. The moment where you leave Midgar and see that you still have a whole world to explore is a powerful one, and I think having an episode split at that point would destroy that moment.

Going with your arrival at Costa del Sol would add, off the top of my head, Kalm, Chocobo Ranch, Mythril Mine, Fort Condor, and Junon. That's not too big an ask to add, I think, and would allow for that sense of the game's scope before asking the player to wait another year (optimism). There's some important story to pick up at Kalm to get properly invested in your party (and in the villain).

Plus new players would get to hear J-E-N-O-V-A as the episode finale.

I think ending it after you fight Jenova on the cargo ship would be fine.

I really just want to see Jenova in the remake, I'll be honest.

Leaving Midgar would be the the reasonable choice. Especially if they plan on making 3 parts to the story.

That's what they said as soon as they were asked about how they're going to do things:
But with this method, players will be able to explore many different areas of Midgar that they couldn’t access in the original.
As you can see in the trailer, we showed Sector 1 and Sector 8, but in those areas alone, I think you can see a lot of density.

If they're going for more than 3 episodes, the end of Midgar should be fine, if its 3 episodes then I'd say after the attack on Junon

You're looking for Crisis Core...
Available right now on PSP...

(It's story is shit and lessens FFVII's story, don't play it)

Don't listen to this man, play it. Ending made grown men cry.

Bridge out of Midgar makes the most sense to me. I think a large scale Midgar is the main thing many people want out of the remake and this way they can focus on that without having to worry about dealing with the how to approach the world map.
