You can't mess up the stats as each one has it's own cap you can give. You can however waste part of a pot if for instance they can only go up 1 more point and you feed them something that gives more than 1. I wouldn't worry about it though Pots are literally like candy other than Burst. ATK pots seem to be rarer than the other regular ones but I still have a shit ton of extras just sitting around. As for the units Hayate is probably better than Zidane but not by much. If the no companion is just some extra lapis I would do it later if need be.

Yeah every unit can have all stats increased they just have a cap for each character for each stat.

You can look up what the cap is but otherwise once they are capped it won't let you add any more pots.
I had same problem since we have so many great companions on GAF that I blew by story while a bit underleveled. I just started concentrating on leveling someone one person at a time and soon enough I had everyone at 4* to 5* max and he was a breeze.

I think this is a fantastic idea, especially the last bullet point. I love reading about people trying out new teams or putting together some crazy units. Would be fun to read up on what people find strangely effective. I don't know if I will contribute much, but I'd be happy to help in any way that I can.

Do you have unit that has Full Break. If so maybe use it in that fight?

Break + Friend unit should be able to get it done. Noctis has 'break'-like abilities that can be used too.

Well, I will probably spend a couple of tickets trying to get Dark Fina (Not a prayer), and a few more attempting to get Seven. I'm just going with a mage team, because that is what I have. Even Light chains well with a mage team. No decent 5* base physical units like Luneth, or Noctis, or Greg...
Why fight it? I'm just going on a nuking spree.
Also, I am quickly losing interest in this game, but at least I really don't have to put any time into it, either. All I do is farm TMR after doing dailies. It is starting to get a little boring - just going through the motions.

I'm basically in the same place. I have 60-80 of each 6* awakening mat with no one to use them on except spare Exdeaths and already have 30 gigantuars taking up space.
I almost feel like if I don't pull something worth working on soon I'm gonna get bored pretty quick. The problem is the banners aren't worth pulling on...
I can't use a friend because it's when he fights you in town. What level does Noctis get his break ability/ what's it called. I don't think I have any units with break.

He gets Warp Break at 100, Thunder Flask at 30. Thunder Flask will reduce the enemies SPR (magic resistance basically) and their MAG (magic attack power), so that might help you survive the aeroga

I remember that fight. Was tough. The story bosses were actually challenging for a while.

Agrias can Full Break at 5*/76. Noctis gets Warp Break at 6*/max. Both are a ways away for you. When I hit the Veritas of Heavens wall, I went into the xp vortex and didn't return until my team was all at least 4*/50. That's what I'd recommend.
What units are in your box? Also, did you pick up the Masamune from the White Dragon in Farplane yet?

I think I'll do a single 10+1 on the Type 0 banner, to see if I can snag a bonus unit or two. I'd like Ace, but he is really, really not worth whaling for at this point. The worst part about this event is that most of the event gear is way worse than what a lot of us have from farming TM's for so long. In for the 6* materials and Gigantaurs though.

Not going to lie; this is the worst lull in the game I think Global has had since launch. There's really not much to do at all right now, which is annoying. I haven't played so many other games in ages. TMR farming is *******so******* boring (extra asterisks added for extreme annoyance and sarcasm). ZzzzZZZZzzzZZZZZ. All for ~3% to a TM per day + 1% for every 100 lapis I throw at it.
Giving up on Dark Fina, who I really wanted to save tickets for needing to roll FFZ gold unit to have any chance to get at least the mid-tier rewards without grinding for all 14 days of the event. Disappointed, but those are the breaks in any gacha game.
I'm currently in the subway and thought to myself...well there is no reason to pull on the type 0 banner, you spent so much lapis and tix trying to get mercedes with out getting her.

I guess I'm in the minority that I like the lull we've had recently. Would be nice to have a better banner at some point, but those kind of bum me out because of all the "I spent x $ trying for x and didn't get it screw this game" and people quitting stories.
If it's like the cover mechanic, the game will try to proc Provoke (70%), then if it fails it'll try Draw Attacks (50%)

Question for anyone that has some knowledge on the Gilgamesh trial. I know you have to "lock" elements to beat by using those elements against him. So do elemental weapons count or just elemental abilities?

People like using rain for example as he has a fire/earth element attack. Then when you combine in two elemental weapons ( + duel wield) you're knocking out for 4 elements with one unit.
