At the moment I'm considering waiting until summer to get one so I can have Mario Kart, Zelda and Splatoon at the same time. I actually quite liked the presentation, specifically all the cool joycon stuff, but it's only really Zelda that interests me at launch so far. Hopefully the treehouse stream shows a bit more.

Also I fully anticipate at least two or three games to show up in the next few days that'll make people go "why wasn't that in the presentation!?"

It ONLY mentions the app. If the app were secondary, they would mention it as an alternative. Under Voice Chat the first and only thing they talk about is the App. Put 2 and 2 together.

Look at their own chart:
4b3oXa0.jpg

Online Lobby and Voice Chat App

Right but that will be an app on the Switch, I imagine.

I don't get where the assumption is coming from that it's just on available on phones. That makes zero sense. I mean they had a chat app on WiiU.

Longer thoughts now that I'm on my laptop.

Shin Megami Tensei is the biggest draw for me right now. I got up and screamed when Atlus' name was revealed. If it's Shin Megami Tensei V, then there's no doubt that I'm buying a Switch unless it happens to also come to the Playstation 4. If it's not SMTV and rather a spin-off game, then my hype will pretty much be completely deflated.
.

It's definitely SMT V, the website Atlus put up a couple days ago had I II III IV then NEXT

And it's the 25th anniversary. That music made me think MegaTen before the Atlus logo I was so pumped. I just beat Digital Devil Saga 2 today too, and haven't played Nocturne yet!

Dear God as someone who isn't even a huge fan of Nintendo, Kinda Funny Games (Colin and Greg specifically) are annoying the shit out of me on Twitter

No reason to buy a switch if u have wiiu already till fall. Unless u need the portablilty but id be shocked if the battery life isnt bad.

That's probably what Nintendo thought too.

Okay, as far as the hardware goes it wasn't very interesting to me. In fact during the first bit of the presentation I was completely uninterested in the switch. Seeing the games changed my mind though. As a whole, I think this is classic Nintendo. Hardware that isnt going for the bleeding edge of capability (which is disappointing) with games that look fun and creative.

I preordered Zelda and Switch on best buy as soon as they came up but noticed that the pro controller wasn't on the site yet. Hmmm.

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
Very Japanese centric conference means we got shit all info on downloadable/indies/virtual console.

I feel like we need more info on this especially in the West.

Look one of the best if not THE best PS4 launch game was Resogun. We need some stuff like that to help fill out the launch lineup.

KingSnake

The Birthday Skeleton
I wonder what happened with Ubisoft? Why were they completely missing from the event? Especially since they have 3 games at launch.

i'm sorry but this is an awful line up, it's going to be the next wii u.

That was a pretty bad conference as a blowout of Switch.

Zelda and Mario looked absolutely amazing. $300 price point and everything else though? Yikes.

Right but that will be an app on the Switch, I imagine.

I don't get where the assumption is coming from that it's just on available on phones. That makes zero sense. I mean they had a chat app on WiiU.

the section on voice chat specifically mentions "mobile devices" so unless they are terrible with wording and consider their own new console just another "mobile device" I don't see it. If the app were available on the Switch itself why would anyone need a phone? What purpose would it serve to offer voice chat over a phone when the system could do it itself? The writing is on the wall you are just seeing what you want to see.

I mean when it release WW I'm pretty sure SE is going to have a Switch port as well so I don't see why not, you just have to wait a little longer that's all.
True. But im super impatient :p
Plus i feel like the WW release won't be until next year since DQH2 will be $60 for awhile.

Can someone do a quick size comparison .. side by side between the vita and switch .. I'd like to see how much bigger the switch is.

For their big reveal after the biggest flop in Nintendo history (wiiu), their turning point, the most important moment in the companies history, this event was just meh.

It should have been a bombardment of first party Nintendo games, many out at launch or near with a appealing mass market price of 249 at most.

This was THE MOMENT and Nintendo didn't grab it. So I have a feeling they never will.

1 2 switch is 100% launch, this is incorrect.

It's really hard to imagine how the "HD rumble" works but if it's as good as described it could be really great. Getting a true level of feedback from the controller in that way could be amazing.

Toma

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...
Switch launch is up vs other games in a 1 month time frame before/after launch:

resident evil 7
gravity rush 2
DQVIII 3DS
Kingdom Hearts 2.8 & remix
Yakuza 0
Nioh
For Honor
Berserk
halo wars 2
horizon
torment
nier
atelier firis
mass effect

None of these are on switch. You can buy 7-8 of these games + Zelda for your WiiU or a switch + 2 games and extra controllers. let that value proposition sink in.

I think I am less disappointed because I sort of new all this stuff going in. I had been saying Switch will be expensive for months and not to believe that "surprisingly cheap" rumor. Which meant the stuff that did catch me by surprise, like Xenoblade and what Mario actually was, I really dug.

*shrug*

Even if the thing only ever gets the games that were shown tonight, that's probably fine for me. It will collect dust and occasionally be cool.

This is fucking hillarious. After the trailer last year I thought Nintendo had it, this launch lineup (outside of Zelda) is pathetic.

I think there's so much future potential - they just didn't make the case for Day 1 outside of Zelda.

Will be buying with the hope of a revamped Wii Sports game taking full advantage of the joycons and eventually a Mario Tennis / Golf. Praying for Mario Strikers down the line.
