I can't believe we all thought we were getting a female playable character after that androgynous Linka was shown in the first 2014 trailer along with Aonuma's dumb ol' "who says that was Link?" comments.

Nope. Link. Zelda. Ganon.

But now you have to wait a while to get the green hat.

Baby steps, nahhh. These are prenatal kicks.

What's wrong with saving females....

Is the trope just not allowed period anymore? We havent even seen how the game plays out.

It would be fine if they wrote the story right. Have it be so Link died trying to defeat Ganon, and Zelda is the one who saves him, and then goes off on her own to try to defeat him.

Fuck. Let's go save the girl again

Fuckin' Aonuma

MAN it must suck to be a girl in this world right now

Zelda looks very active in this game. And Nintendo bothered to program cooperative/friendly AIs for this game. There’s a good chance Zelda…and even that white fox in the beginning can/will be helpers and or playable.

Also…

A GERUDO VILLAGE! F*** YES! They’re all back! ;___; YESSSS…And there’s no doubt the sages are back too and will probably be way more hands-on. I”M SO HAPPY! J@IWjadifjsl?Fgjn

This is everything...AHHHH...

Breath of the Wild is 13.4GB on the Switch and 13GB on the Wii U. You'll need 3GB on your Wii U in order to download the update.

No, this shouldn't be a "crying is bad no matter what". In the trailer it sounds like she's been fighting for a long time and finally broke down for a bit, which could easily happen to anyone of any gender. For all we know that's the only moment of "weakness" that Zelda will even have. It gets really old seeing people overreact to a 2 second scene in a trailer and turning it into "Zelda is nothing but a damsel in distress, Aonuma is the worst, Japanese are the worst, etc".

I kinda get the sense that someone died and she broke down

Ummm, no matter why she is crying, there's still a "classic crying woman" IN THE GAME dude

Are we seriously judging everything in life by these completely arbitrary standards now? Since when do women not get emotional in times of great personal turmoil

I'll be going for the Switch version for the near-certainty of a better frame rate than Wii U.

I'll bet the Wii U version is going to be rough.

The official trailer was uploaded at 1080p on Nintendo's Youtube, hopefully it also means the game is native 1080p when Switch is docked.

That was my take, even though I was a bit uncomfortable about her being in such an emotional role in comparison.

In the end, it's TLoZ. You'll have to save her at a point, but that doesn't mean she can't take care of herself.

it's people voicing their annoyance with an overused trope, especially in the context of today's sensibilities. It's not a matter of it being allowed or not - it obviously is. But if this is the story they want to tell, people have a right in criticizing it.

Amazing!!! Absolutely beautiful!! Never played zelda but this really made me decide to buy Switch as soon as I can. Xenoblade is the icing on the cake.

I hope it's dual audio. The English voices are looking good so far, but the Japanese voice acting will always be superior. And Zelda's voice in Japanese is loooove.

Trailer was great. Honestly, at the beginning a lot of the environments they showed looked plastic-y and sort of ugly, but all the gameplay shots and story shots look so much better. Music was hella stirring. After today I know I'm getting this on Wii U, can't justify the Switch at launch for just one game, so hopefully the framerate's respectable.

Alright we got it, heard you the first 3 times. Maybe wait for the game to actually release before forming such a strong opinion on it's story/characters? All we've seen is a few of out-of-context cut scene clips from a 3 minute trailer and already you're this upset?

what the heck, grow up. You talk like women are the biggest minorities ever. Hilarious. Go outside and breathe some fresh air.

Why didn't Link break down tho?

It's a trope. Unemotional male hero comforts overly emotional woman. Stop defending it.

Yeah, women not being minorities really affects their positive representation in the media. Great point.

Theory, since the preceding dialogue before every Zelda scene is "You're ready to find out what happened 100 years ago," what if every single scene with Zelda in this trailer is from a flashback and she's sacrifices herself so that Link can make to the shrine of resurrection?

We need a link for that CE...
The collector's edition or me? :p

"Today's sensibilities."

Are we allowed to be okay with it?

I have a terrible feeling Link might actually die in this game...

:| And I also haven't figured out a timeline place for this. All of Hyrule's races/tribes are in it...

Holy cow, they really went crazy with that story trailer.

Because we should be more positive towards women? We have thresholds that change. That's a natural part of society. It's not morally wrong to expect women to actually be strong. Zelda's always been a nice character since Ocarina and I don't think that'll change, but it's worth noting and pointing out the trope.

We hear her voice at the start of the game, no? She might be trapped somewhere, communicating with Link telepathically.

I'd stop while you're ahead.

Lol it's a Zelda game. Link will get beaten up at most but since when don't these have happy endings?

I'm hoping that's not the case. Seriously hoping she's not a damsel in this game man.
