How does it charge in the dock? Do you have to line it up just right with the connector on the bottom? Is it like the wii u game pad on the bottom? Does it charge wirelessly, like a Samsung Galaxy phone can?

ive been trying to stay positive today despite the barrage of terrible news, but this... this is when the tears started welling up. its almost difficult to breathe like im having a panic attack or something. i hate nintendo so goddamn much. they're ruining everything the rumors and my imagination had made up.
Saying "it has Nintendo games"is not really the selling point you seem to think it isGawd people need to calm down with these threads. Think about it, this is Nintendo's next home console. You'll be able to play their big franchise main entries on the go, in HD, and the whole thing is about the size of a WiiU controller. It's really a marvel, both technologically and industrial design wise.
It's not being touted as a handheld, and it will probably charge when you come home and put it in the dock anyway. It's a home console with mobile capabilities and it will do its job just fine for most people and use cases. Some posters here seem to have really unreasonable expectations on what they have built, try to be realistic please.

I was going to buy one last night to scalp but the presentation was so bad I couldn't pull the trigger. Even this morning I thought about it and still couldn't. Good luck reselling these things dudes.
I'm talking about the hardware design and capabilities, you're talking mostly about details such as included storage, pricing and launch games. I feel like people are trying to find every angle to shit on because they dislike some completely unrelated aspect of the console.32GB Storage.
2 hour of game time portable.
Longer charging time than playing time.
Paid online for what will surely be horrendous infrastructure - it's nintendo ffs.
Must use smartphone to talk online (hope this one isn't true)
Same power as a Wii U - meaning this "home console" is now as strong as consoles released nearly 10 years ago.
$299 overpriced and $59.99 games (are they serious with this bullshit?)
$70 for a pro controller - more than an XB1 or PS4 controller. $90 for a set of JoyCons.
This thing isn't a marvel at all. It's a goddamn disaster with an abysmal launch lineup. I had such high expectations for this thing and was ready to buy it day one but now... now I'm gonna have to avoid buying it on launch just out of principle.
Too expensive and bulky for a handheld system (especially with $60 games), and far too weak for a current gen console. Nintendo thought they were being smart but instead they screwed gamers on both spectrums.
Nintendo truly never learns. I never thought I would say this but I honestly hope they die off after this thing fails and just starts making software. I wouldn't mind seeing Zelda/Mario on a PS4P and Scorpio.
God damn. This hammer. Hahaha.
All that is true. But I'll buy it.

Do people really play games on their phones while out and about, 3hrs at a time, without getting a chance to charge their device?
USB ports are everywhere. I'm always looking for a place to charge my phone. I already make sure to take a power bank with me if I know I'll be somewhere I can't charge. *shrugs*
This really seems like a non-issue.

Yeah, that's the thing I don't get. This isn't any different than the Vita and 3DS, but people are having meltdowns over it.Many own and love the Vita too.
What's wrong with $59.99 No seriously... what is wrong with it?

Yes, if you play extremely demanding games on max settings.
But anyone who doesn't configure their console to save even a little battery life shouldn't complain.
Many own and love the Vita too.
They are already selling for $400-$500 on eBay. Actual Sold listings.
I guess quick charge is magic.
Yep! The goddamn thing already costs $300 without a game. Now you want to spend another $20 on a decent USB-C battery. Want another set of joy-con? $80. Oh you want to play a game on your new Switch? $60. $30 for the wrist strap things? Seriously Nintendo??? Why do you hate those who grew up with you?
Am I missing something? Can someone explain it to me?
People already get plenty tethered to these with their smartphones nowadays. For gaming it's even less of an issue.

Just tell me this: I can play this in portable mode while it's charging, right? That's how I play my 3DS at home.
So you chose to not consider their games because you couldn't look past the hardware spec numbers. All I can say is "OK".I've gone a generation not playing Nintendo games due to the hardware being such a poor offering (as have most people looking at the sales). Honestly haven't get like I've missed much. Maybe 1-2 games
A few of those are just sniping for the sake of sniping.
You've gone from being ready to buy the console on day one to now honestly hoping the company dies.
"Hurt me more"God damn. This hammer. Hahaha.
All that is true. But I'll buy it.
While it's in the cradle the machine will do as all tablets do, charge and operate at the same time. It's not solely running off the battery when playing a game docked. Just like the the WiiU gamepad, the 3DS and every single tablet going. The battery is NOT BEING DRAINED WHEN IN THE DOCK.
what the fuck is this?
Yes, if you play extremely demanding games on max settings.
But anyone who doesn't configure their console to save even a little battery life shouldn't complain.
How does that work, 2.5 hours playtime and 3 hours recharge? Is that even possible?
I honestly have no idea. I mean neither the Vita or 3DS have great battery life. Whose 3DS really lasts a journey and back?
This thing's a mess.
Just wait for the next hardware revision people.
