Since Nagoshi was on Nintendo Switch event i bet this will be ported to Switch so ill wait for that instead now i cancelled my preorder

Im playing the japanese version right now and I think gaf will be triggered. OT will be full of wtf japans unless they censor the game hard. Ive played all the ryu ga gotokus before this one and the erotic humour in this one is on another level.

I love the game by the way.

there was one time when a yakuza game was on a non playstation platform and i think it flopped. i don't think this franchise will be multiplatform

I really want everyone to know how much more Titanfall 2 sold than Nioh. It was a staggering amount.
To be fair, I think Yakuza PC could eventually happen in (relativity distant) future but the Switch version of older games... yeah I don't see that happening.

Sega already move to next step, the Yakuza6 out in my country still has "Only on playstation" label

I don't know what they will deal with Yakuza7, or will it exist.

BTW,Yakuza Kiwami can ship 200k Asia version day1 is because Sony localize Yakuza0 to Chinese and PS4 doesn't has pirate.(And Sega didn't want Sony do this at first.)

If this never happen,Yakuza6 maybe just get lower budget as other jrpg(Tales)

But several negative things happened in Yakuza6, I concern this series' future in their second biggest market

Sega said they want to know why Asia gamers love their game,I doubt it would sold 20k if pirate happened.Yakuza series seems already earn more than GTA series here

HEY GUYS I HEARD THERE WAS WEIRD SHIT IN THIS GAME

There's a small sidequest where you encounter and help a
professional dominatrix who's struggling because she's too nice to her subs.

That's just the tip of the iceberg. This series has so much crazy and wacky shit and Yakuza 0 is no exception.

I played through the first game back in 2007 I believe. Got Yakuza 2 as a gift some time deep in the PS3/360 days when I was already swamped with games and never got around to play it. I would like to get 3, 4 and 5 before moving on to the PS4 games. But I am afraid that if I play through the series in a short time span I might get burnt out before reaching the newer games.

So I'm considering to just ignore 2-5 for now, play 0 instead, get Kiwami in summer and then move on to 6 when that releases. I have a massive backlog as it is, and lots of noteworthy games are coming out in the near future, so I believe that's the best way to go.

Not Asia,I mean China (day1 localization only include Chinese) GTAV PC version sold 500k here with 10-30 dollars (China is steam low price region).Console version no one knows but also influenced by pirate heavily. The other GTA games all for pirate.
Yakuza series seems already sold over 500K with 30-70 dollars.
(day1 ship:0-100k,Kiwami-200K,6-?)

do you mean this in regard's to the game itself or the game as a product? as in, it sold significantly less?

Glad to see many people use it :)

Also, I've noticed that the sizing is a little off and doesn't cover the sides of avatar so I've fixed that if you and others want to update your avatars. I'll edit the original post with this one too.

There was a sentence in Yakuza6:"What do you think of the Taiwan Nation ". And Sega fixed it after Chinese(mainland) complain.
But it just make both sides unhappy, and Yakuza6 banned in the biggest online retailer(mainland).

You know Trump also did that.

Yeah, I'm going to wait for a little bit after the holiday weekend before calling them up. I have Prime as well but still have the message so we'll see.
oh yeah that's right, tomorrow is a holiday.

oh I see, damn. so if it were not for those dialogue mistakes the game would've hit it off better in china?

and yeah, trump has done a lot of things.
lol wat is this supposed to mean

Sony's Third Party Productions is helping Sega bring these games to the west..

Hey guys, Sam Mullen here, producer at Atlus USA managing SEGA's JP lineup. I keep seeing this restated and I feel like it's causing a lot of misunderstanding, so I want to just set the record straight once and for all.

Sony has been an amazing partner, and we infinitely appreciate all their help and attention to this series. Without them, Y5 wouldn't have made it.

But their third party production team's involvement was limited to Yakuza 5. They have no involvement with 0, Kiwami, or Yakuza 6. For that, please direct all your love towards Atlus USA and SEGA themselves.

And keep rockin' YakuzaGAF. See you all in the 24th.

Thank you for clearing things up and thanks to you and all the wonderful people at Atlus USA and SEGA for porting these fantastic games over here!!

It's gonna be a very good year for Yakuza in the west, I can feel it.

Thanks to Atlus and Sega!

Just wondering if Yakuza 5 did really well, or better than expected, to influence a western release for 0, Kiwami, and 6 in relatively quick succession.

Yakuza 3 was one of my favorite playstation games from last gen, I really wish this series was more recognized & popular

Wow, didn't know that. Hopefully that doesn't impact Yakuza 6's sales in that region too much.

Thank you for clearing that up. It's good to know that Sega itself is so invested in bringing the Yakuza series to the west. Also, don't worry we have all the love in the world for people who have made these games happen :)

P.S: I was actually wondering where did you go cause iirc you posted once in Yakuza community thread. We love talking to you guys (you and John) so please, do visit Yakuza threads :)

I just got the game (US)!

My support is official. Gonna start as soon as I get home, if anyone has any immediate questions on the US version, let me know and I'll see if I can give some answers

have you played 4 ? Because its considered the best Yakuza and the third is considered one of the low ones.
i know the 3rd is considered one of the lows, but i don't care. the story is great.

didn't play 4, played 5 and lost interest after i had to play as someone other than kiryu. i don't imagine it'd be different if i played 4

lol wat is this supposed to mean

Kiryu is coming to get that preorder back.

I just wanted an excuse to post that gif.

This is really encouraging to hear, hopefully this renewed interest in bringing the series to the west pays off.

Y4 starts with the GOAT Shun Akiyama so that instantly makes it a better game than Y5.
Wow. That music is amazing. Does the series always have good music?
I always find them enjoyable. Especially the few battle related ones that I've heard from Y0 have been so great.
How you can download the demo ? I want to try it first
Make and HK account and download it off of HK PSN. You can find it in the demo section of HK Store in PS4. It's called Ryu ga Gotoku Zero: Chikai no Basho.

I decided that I don't really feel like playing the game on day one since I'm in a bit of a gaming rut right now. Preordered a gift copy for a friend instead though.

Hey, thank you for bringing Yakuza 0 over. I've bought all euro released Yakuza games, and imported two of them too.

Please do think about bringing Ishin over some day :)

The point is, the characters in 4 are amazing. the best in the series, far superior than 5

In terms of the whole Yakuza 3 opinion, its probably one of my favourites in the series just for Rikya alone (loved his character). It has its flaws for sure, but I personally loved the slower, more personal start with the orphans, and some of the fights later in the game were just as epic as ever (I loved the final boss). Its just a pity that it was so butchered when it was released in English, I replayed the game a year or so ago and did so with my Japanese copy and wow at the amount of extra stuff in that game. Probably spent a good 20-30 hours more on the game at least (mostly due to the hostess/club management stuff and Mah Jong) but its definitely a game I'd like to see remade one day, just so it can finally get the English release it deserved.

I also really enjoyed 5 though, a lot. It bloated in terms of content sure, but I loved the cities, characters and wealth of stuff to do. 100%ing that game felt like an achievement in itself, took me 140 hours... The only time I really wasn't enjoying myself was when I was trying to do the arena stuff - doing it once was fun, doing it a second time (with Seijima) was also fine, since he's a beast. Doing it two more times with Akiyama and Shinada was really bad, they aren't really suited to this mode yet the arena wasn't tweaked to take that into account, so it made some battles darn hard.

That's really cool to hear, especially seeing that you guys had Kiwami and 6 confirmed before 0 was even released (which was really awesome to see).
