This system is such a departure for Nintendo. Not to sound like one of those guys but they really have made a console for adults. Great UI. Simple, clean, fast. Great hardware. Really excited about finally paying money for a Nintendo console and not feeling like I'm buying a compromised mess of plastic and poor TFT screens.

They've just absolutely nailed so many things. We can just hope their online thing just works and this requiring a smartphone thing is blown out of proportion (because that seems like madness).

Can someone tell me why RGB settings are exciting?

Not really....its not like he stole the system.

But yeah was surprised to see him record the wifi spots, thats a no no.

I don't know about the poster you quoted but I was thinking more along the lines of a burglary <_<
The only switch in the wild, worth more than its actual price, you never know.

Well, I'm not worried as I didnt do anything wrong, didn't expect this thing to be so big (I assumed I wouldnt be the only one who got a switch early) and new that the wifi would show up but didnt want to skip over that area of the UI and disappoint GAF.

The smartphone app should be an option, and perhaps it is, or will be. So no panicking yet.

I can see absolutely zero pros to having to use an additional device, it's not more convenient that using one device no matter how Nintendo try and spin it. I saw an interview with Reggie recently and he was getting so excited about it (I know he get's paid to do that lol) but nah it's not good, like at all.

How can you not love the Dark Theme?! Does anybody else set Neogaf to Dark Theme too? Lol

Oh yeah and I'm so happy for the dark theme. I hate bright white backgrounds for UI. Don't set NeoGAF to the dark theme though, my eyes can't handle too much white text on black backgrounds, I literally have lines across my vision for ages afterwards (my eyes definitely are quite sensitive to light I think..).

Is the update actually available to download yet?

Interesting, I must have missed some updates to My Nintendo then. And as for points vs. coins, they may call them points but the icons sure look like coins! Don't they even go into a coin bank?

Hah I don't think I have enough coins (errr points) for anything but I guess I'll check!

Yep, that is what routerbad and I were discussing above! It's really strange that they're called points and not coins ... as you said, they go into a coin bank. A point bank, I guess. A fishbowl to store your points in, just like in real life. -___-

Here are the reward categories:

https://my.nintendo.com/reward_categories

All of the discount coupon ones:

https://my.nintendo.com/reward_categories/coupon

These are tied to the account.

These are the downloadable software ones, I forgot it's not only for gold points, in fact the ones here are only platinum points at the moment, but in the past for the full non-exclusive VC games they offered, you did need gold points to get those:

BTW, if there is a plat reward at the link just above that you're interested in, I don't think those are tied to the account and I have plenty of coins so I can get one for you if there's one you want.

Also, missions are here:

Many thanks for sharing this with everyone, man!

Too bad they didn't early-ship Zelda as well. :p

UI looks slick, lacks a lot of features though, I can't wait to see how the new E-Shop will look.

Also, Mii are still a thing! :D

Wii U had limited RGB output. Makes the image look more washed out which is kind of a bad thing since Nintendo's games rely so much on color

Only washed out if you use a limited (16-235) in a display expecting a full (0-255), predominantly pc monitors. The flip side is crushed blacks if you send full (0-255) into a display expecting limited (16-235).

Most modern TV's expect 16-235 so it wasn't an issue, besides most tvs have the option to change the video signal they expect, and even modern monitors have the option of changing the rgb signal too.

But it's something that should have been there, and will be good to have in the switch for certain people.

"Boo-hoo Nintendo left me"

We eatin' fam. Ain't no one telling you to stick around for dinner.

lmao, not sure why he even bothers considering his other gems.

My hype was obliterated by the conference, was planning to pre-order that night but now I have zero interest. Same old Nintendo, not making the mistake of trusting them again.

I'll play BotW on my PS5.

As well as this.

More on topic, I'm wondering if the "TV Resolution" options can go up to 4k if hooked up to a 4k set? Obviously the games won't render at that resolution, but maybe menus and media streaming can go up to 4k? I haven't delved into the specification leaks.

Well, you should be fine but if someone comes knocking you probably don't have to tell them anything. Nintendo may be able to trace the retailer due to the MAC address though.

But I'm a little surprised you thought other people might have their consoles already! It's over two weeks from release, that's unusually early.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

I wanted to thank you immensely for your kindness and availability to just make a bunch of jokers happy. Thanks.

Also, a (I hope) small request: I saw a Nintendo eShop window in the News menu. Can you click on that and check it, if possible? I suppose there could be images of the new eShop, a tiny but possibly interesting sneak peek.

Basically the best thing to hope for is that Arcanum lives half an hour from hiphotherobot and he was like "hey I didn't get the Switch, but Zelda was sent to me early..."
