Regal. Hitting one good mod is hard enough, hitting two is much, much harder. There's a good chance that you'll hit a shitty suffix that you can wipe, regal again, etc.
Makes sense. I assume I would have to utilize Haku's master mod to retain the prefix, before wiping?

Died in Hardcore Breach at lvl82 on my Berserker.

Felt real bad mostly because I have no idea what actually killed me. Looks like a combination of a ton of Bleed stacks combined with some sort of corpse explosion. I was kinda blazing through a tier 7 map and didn't know what happened.

Though the death was coming anyway between the server lags and the close calls I had before.

Also I did not know that dying in Hardcore Breach sends you all the way into regular Standard League, not even Breach Softcore. That kinda dampered my excitement because I wanted to take on the breach lords and finish some challenges (ended up doing like 13 before dying).

Yes I really don't understand why this is the case, seems like Hardcore league should go into Softcore league.

Maybe they want to keep the two economies separate whereas Standard Standard is just the dumping ground.

This is pretty cool though I expect significant differences between the two versions. Seems like it will come to PS4 as well.

Also I figured out how I died. It was Volatile Blood plus lag. There's like no significant animation for Volatile Blood which is kinda lame.

Yeah already stuff about targeting for certain skills are different and only 4 flasks due to d-pad. Will be really interesting to see the meta form in that version since you probably can't go as fast as on PC. Also what will be the equivalent to logging out/how fast can you do it?

Yeah Volatiles are lame, one of the most debated about mods. It's stupid but it's like the only roadblock in this meta. I still find it stupid that it's so hard to mitigate it due to limited elemental damage mitigation forms.

They are probably going to use the D3 consoles as a blueprint. Despite some issues I think Blizzard did about as well as a job of porting over D3 to consoles as possible.

The thing with ARPGs that is always lost when transitioning to controller is mobility. The precision of move/jump to cursor in my opinion cannot be replicated and inventory management unless heavily changed is a bit of a mess too.

Ever since after Diablo there has been this growing demand for the genre to play on controller, which is fine, but not something I could ever get used to or agree on. I think ARPGs are always better with M&Kb.

Hmm, I'm not really a fan of the move since I believe having console as a target platform can possibly affect design decisions for the full game, including PC, based on how easy or hard they are to implement on console or how well they expect such features to be received by the console audience.

Chris posted a manifesto promising precisely that the above wouldn't happen, but you never know.

The way I see it is they'll have more resources to put into the game and they said they'll remove skills from the console version that require mouse precision I just don't want it to affect their skill variety/mechanics going forward. Although I am a tiny bit skeptical just because you can tell d3 was clearly created to be ported to consoles eventually due to the dumbed down mechanics and limited number of skill slots and it wouldn't make monetary sense for GGG to have 2 separate teams at all times.

I would be extremely sad if PoE ended up this way as it is the only game that has scratched the D2 itch for me. But all good things must come to an end...

I started putting in tons of time into Grim Dawn and completely forgot about this game, I really enjoy the MMO aspect/community part of it.

I hear it's a bit harder to level up then in Grim Dawn and I'm looking to do a Necromancer Type build similar to Diablo 2. I really enjoy a build like that but would also like powerful spells, is this something that exists? If so, are there any build guides I can follow? Or entire builds for me to mimic?

Aside from that, any tips for a beginner? I've read a ton but a lot of it a little bit much and confusing (albeit I'm sure once I jump in it'll make sense).

Leveling is rather easy in this game if you know/have a general idea of what to do. There are quick leveling guides for you to look through as well. It sounds like a witch with summons and the necromancer ascendancy would be right up your alley.

Here is the witch forum that contains builds that you might be interested in.

Leveling up to 80 is pretty quick these days especially if you know which side quests you can skip. In a few days of decent play (like a few hours a day) and then Dry Lake running with a public group (there's always a group running Dry Lakes on Merciless) is a quick way to get to lvl80. After that you need to start mapping to get not terrible experience gains per run.

You kinda just want to get to lvl90, most builds are kinda complete by then anyway. It's just additional min maxing from there to lvl100.

Wow you Dried Lake until 80? I only go up to 72 before I hit the maps.

Well I was playing Hardcore before so I tried to keep it safe with the leveling.

I think upto 77 Dry Lakes are perfectly fine. Easy monsters, easy lay out, easy density, easy boss, easy currency... easy life.

Ah I only play softcore so I just yolo into maps as soon as my build's up and running.

So I've been REALLY into this game especially after finishing RE7 but I hit a bit of a snag last night. So I'm following a CI SRS Witch Necro build (which seem to be super powerful and fast clear speed) and I'm currently level 40. I tried to do the ascendancy map last night and somehow made it to the boss (or a boss?) after just 2 rooms and got completely demolished, I mean it was not even close. I only got him down 15%.

Is this normal? Is Ascendancy clearing something I have to do at higher levels? So far I've been clearing everything at pretty much lightning speed (also note I just got my Lightning Golem so he makes things brisk with the + cast speed).

This is the build I'm shifting towards as now really feeling going CI later on : https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1816896

I've already chosen the Lightning Golem but I should be able to buy Stone Golem from the vendor, right?

That's just the first fight. You fight Izaro a total of three times each time you Ascend. Twelve times in total if you go all the way to uber lab.

Anyway, I usually put off normal lab until cruel, cruel lab until merciless, and merciless until some time into maps (somewhere around level 80-85). I would probably do it that way even on softcore to not waste time. Uber is partly decided by RNG, so if my build is capable by the time I unlock it, I do it then.

There's a bunch of mechanics during the fight which can buff Izaro. They carry over into the next round. The most dangerous are probably curses (kill totems), charges (click statue just before you kill him, timing that sucks) or extra ele damage (golems that slowly walk towards him).

Bring a stibnite flask a granite/basalt and, my favourite, a decoy totem next time you do it. The flask will protect you reasonably well from subsequent hits and he all but magnetizes to the decoy, which is very, very useful to have more control over the fight.

If your damage is amazing because of twink gear, disregard everything and just burst him down.

Yeah, Izaro has a bunch of mechanics you need to be aware of to not make the fight harder for yourself (and eventually you'll want to for those extra keys if that is your thing). You also have to fight him 3 times, eating about 33% of his HP each one. (He doesn't regenerate it for the next fights)

Depending of the layout of the day's map there might be a couple of zones where you can find some orbs that could help make the fights a little bit easier too (by disabling his buffs much faster) but once you figure out the stages it's not that big a deal to chase these.

Like Rufus said, it is generally recommended to just come back when you are over-leveled to make things easier. There's no great rush get your ascendancy points right as you unlock the lab. I would also recommend watching a few videos on youtube just to be aware of all the different combinations of buffs Izaro can get and what can you expect each time you fight him. The traps in the last instance or not disabling his buffs properly can catch you by surprise. Learn to recognize his animations and what kinds of attacks he makes so you know when it is best to unleash. It's a very "stick and move" fight, but once got it down it becomes relatively easy to do.

They could have been fighting Argus as well, not that he's tougher than Izaro but he can be just as hard for some people.

I normally run lab once I'm halfway through the next difficulty. If you're adequately geared and smash through mobs, there's no reason to wait beyond that.

Futtbuck, not sure if you know about it but poelab.com is a good resource once you start running labs more and more. I recommend doing the first one or two on your own so you learn it but use the site if and when you ever start farming it.

Thanks guys, this helps a lot. I'm glad I'm not just hitting some insane difficulty spike or something out of nowhere :)

What do you all think of the build I've been following linked above? The only difference is that I can't use all the aura's at once yet and I'm using Zombies, I feel like they're solid meat shields. Stone Golem I cannot equip yet due to lack of strength.

Grab a cheap belt/ammy with implicit strength on it or grab one of the strength nodes to help you when leveling. Don't worry about stat requirements too much when leveling as by the time you are end game you should be able to buy what you need for relatively cheap these days. Builds like the one you linked are great but are usually generally reserved for people that are veterans or as a build that is a 2nd/3rd etc. character as you will most likely have enough currency from your first character to do as you please. Hybrid characters are harder for newer players to play due to their low defenses and survival.

I would try using SRS as soon as you can with the zombies to maximize dps. You can probably get most of the gear you need for your build very cheap. Besides shav's/united in dream.

Does anyone have any high-level strategies? This is the highest level (90) I've ever gotten with my character, but I'm currently stuck at T11-12 maps. I can clear the content, but I can't seem to get maps to push deeper on a consistent basis.

I ticked off a bunch of firsts like beating Atziri, uber ascending, etc., and like to push as far as I can, but don't know how to go about it.

I was reading the announcement on my phone and started thinking 'WTF' as I got down to the Act 6 part. Then it kept going, and going...

I don't know how long those acts will be, but having a bunch of new things to do will definitely pull me back into the game.

NO MORE CRUEL AND MERCILESS!

Damn, I'm hyped. I can't believe how much is being delivered.

Legacy league will be amazing.

3.0 will be even more amazing.

I'm so excited for the future of this game. PoE is putting D3 and MH2016 to shame with 3.0.

I've been hooked on this game since Breach started. Up to almost 200 hours now.

I plan on buying a second supporter pack now.

So excited for this! Also excited for legacy league, there are many leagues I never got chance to really experience but in retrospect want to try out.

I wonder how they will handle the resistances in one-difficulty-environment. Will we get an increasing resistance penalty in each act? Or will they simply scale down the resists and have no penalty? I think the increasing-penalty-per-act would be the easy way out, from development perspective. But I'm not sure it made logical sense.

I hope there's no sharp incline again, as they now have enough acts to smoothly distribute difficulty. That inevitably led to grinding or a trip to poe.trade.

I just started playing again. New expansion looks sick. I can't think of a comparable free game. Still don't get how people accumulate such ludicrous currency for some of the insane builds.

Getting ahead of the trading game and keeping on top of it.

Or crafting. Once you get a sizable amount of currency to start off with it isn't too hard to grow it through crafting. There's always a few pieces of non-unique gear that will fetch a bit of money.
