How much are you spending on a Switch day one?

Been doing a lot of flipping games when I can. I would guess I paid $175 for the console and about $35 for Zelda.

Oh and like $10 for a screen protector and $15 for a hori hard case.

Not sure if I'll get anything else but not looking likely so far.

I couldn't bring myself to buy another game aside from Zelda. So currently $380. I'll probably pick up a screen protector, case, and call it a day. So $400 I guess.

All from Best Buy with GCU taxes included

Nintendo Switch™ 32GB Console - Gray Joy-Con - $318.74
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Special Edition - $84.99
Super Bomberman R - $42.49
1-2-Switch - $42.49
Pro Wireless Controller - $74.36
All Breath of the Wild Amiibos - $71.35

And while not quite Switch related, I'm getting it at Best Buy on the 3rd too so I'll count it
First 4 Figures Breath of the Wild Link 11" Figure - $95.61

=

$730.03

A lot, but I've been saving since the reveal so it doesn't hurt the bank much.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
Just console and Zelda for now. Not even an SD card until a second game exists that I care to buy.

Zero. Haha. My brother is very into it, though. He's locked in for Zelda, Mario Kart, Splatoon, and 1-2 Switch. I'm happy about it because I get to use him as the guinea pig, since this time around we're not sharing a console (like we did with Wii U, Wii, GC, and every other one beforehand) and he was willing to jump in day 1 while I wasn't, mostly due to my budget and not being convinced that I need a Switch right away. I believe my bro bought additional controllers so those, plus the game preorders easily puts him in the $500 range once everything is paid for. Crazy. But, he was also the type to spend endlessly on additional controllers for Wii U and PS4 without a second's hesitation.

By the looks of it, I'll be having a damn good preview of the system without having to buy one myself. Gotta love enthusiast family members. We'll see if that translates into a purchase for me as well. As much of a Nintendo fan as I am, I'm still convinced that I'll be waiting until the holiday season to grab my own system. Time will tell.

Switch Console (Grey) - $300
Pro Controller - $70
Joy-con Set (Red/Blue) - $80
Elite Player Backpack - $50
Hori Playstand - $13
Sandisk 64GB Micro SD - $16

Zelda - $48
1-2 Switch - $40
Super Bomberman R - $40
Binding of Isaac (Delayed) - $32

$689 total.

I feel like the only thing I have left to make a decision on is a screen protector... never had one on my Vita though and it's been fine.

I'm hosting an Extra Life pay-to-play 1-2 Switch tournament on the 5th and I wanted controllers for people to try out Bomberman after the main event.

If the store is live I'll probably be grabbing Snipperclips and I am Setsuna launch weekend also.

Console Neon 329€

Carrying Case/Screen Protector 20€

And probably more if the Virtual Console is up day one

Neon Console $300
4 Games (Breath of the Wild, 1,2 Switch, Bomberman R, and Snipperclips) $120 - Thanks Best Buy!
Neon Controller red/blue pack $60 - Thanks BB
Joy-Con Charging Grip $25 - Thank BB
200GB MicroSD card - $65

Total $570 day 1.

That still leaves me $30 in the budget to pick up any other accessories I may need (like a carrying case, scratch resistance screen, extra straps, a spare charging cord, and so on.)

Skiesofwonder

Walruses, camels, bears, rabbits, tigers and badgers.
Amazon:
Switch (grey) - $323.99
Nintendo Switch everywhere messenger bag - $43.19

Best Buy:
Breath of the Wild - $34.82
1,2 Switch - $32.39
Pro Controller - $54.28

Total: $488.67

I might cancel the messenger back for a cheaper carring case, but the messenger bag has built-in departments for the dock, pro controller, cables, game carts, and a separate case for the actual switch. Very handy.

Edit: Snipperclips as well, just not sure if that is hitting on launch day or not.

I'm actually fairly shocked the amount of people buying 1-2 Switch.

In all fairness this game should be a pack in. But on the other hand, I really want a game to play with friends in between classes at my college and 1,2 Switch is only $30 for me so what the hey? It looks like one of those funky Japanese game shows. My friends and I are going to have a riot.

447.99 switch grey joy-con
71.67 Zelda
100.79 pro controller
58.23 1,2 switch
58.23 Bomberman

So that's me all in with Canadian dollars and all taxes.

My wallet is crying.

Looks like that will be € 0,-

Still have a preorder and I'm probably going to cancel it. Can't justify a full price day 1 purchase.

I don't have that much time to actually play games and by the time I can give the Switch the attention it (hopefully) deserves there will be more games available and it will probably be cheaper.

In the meantime I'll figure out where to spend my reserved 400-500 on. Probably on upgrading my PC or get a UHD TV.

That's my order for the moment:

- Switch (Grey Console): 319,00€
- Pro Controller: 69,90€
- The Legend of Zelda: BOTW: 59,90€
- Samsung EVO Plus 128 GB: 45€

So 493,80€. But I am quite confused with what comes in the box and what doesn't. AFAIK, that's what it includes:

- Console
- Dock
- Joy-Con (Left and Right)
- Joy‑Con Wrist Strap
- Joy‑Con Grip
- High Speed HDMI™ Cable
- AC Adapter

Is that correct for all countries? (I am from Spain). Is the LAN adapter (29,90€) worth it? And the Joy-Con Charging Grip (24,95€)?

Too many questions...

Current plan:
Switch: $300
Pro controller: $70
Extra JoyCons: $80
Zelda: $60
Super Bomberman R (if reviews are good): $60
Just Dance 2017: $60
--------------------
$630

I can drop Just Dance, Bomberman, and the extra JoyCons if those games aren't good. The money will go toward a bigass SD card. I know I'd lose the physical copies almost immediately. I have enough trouble keeping track of my 3 Vita memory cards.

Go ahead and do that, champ.

Hey my family loves playing it, we got our money's worth every time we've bought one. There's a reason they keep making them (besides being relatively cheap to produce licensing costs aside). The only things that would drop that would be other unexpected expenses or a garbage setlist.

Canadian here, living in Ontario so we have 13% tax. I am also a Prime member on Amazon.ca so I get Prime savings on some of the stuff.

Switch - $399.99 + tax = $451.99
Zelda BoTW - $63.99 + tax = $72.31
PDP carrying bag - $19.99 + tax = $22.59
HORI screen protector - $12.99 + tax = $14.68
Zelda BoTW Amiibo - $17.59 + tax = $19.68
Link (Archer) BoTW Amiibo - $17.59 + tax = $19.68

TOTAL = $601.33

The Amiibos may go, and I may instead get a 128GB memory card. Price will still be around the same.

Switch: $300
Pro Controller: $70
Zelda: $60

Total: $430 before taxes

I might pick up the BOTW amiibo as well if they're in stock.

Can I ask: why do so many of you use screen protectors? I see people talk about putting these on smartphones all the time like it's an essential purchase. Gorilla Glass or whatever equivalent you like is more than durable enough to resist any scratches. Anything more than a scratch and the screen "protector" isn't going to do anything. Is there something I'm missing?

Switch (Gray) : $300
Zelda BOTW Master Edition: $103 (prime discount)
Probably Bomberman: $50

And definitely getting Snipperclips when it releases.

I dropped some pre-order stuff so I'm basically getting:

Switch (Gray) : $300
Zelda (digital) : $60
Insignia Go Case : $20
~ $380

I'll be picking up a memory card after impressions have come out and I can get optimum read/write speeds. I'll be getting a pro controller if I find I'm using Switch as a 'console' more than I anticipated.

Switch - $299.99 + tax = $330
Zelda BoTW - $99.99 + tax = $107
HORI screen protector - $9.99 + tax = $10.70
Zelda BoTW Amiibo - $14.99 + tax = $16
Snipperclips (If launch) - $19.99+Tax = 21.40

God putting all that in numbers almost makes me sick.

I will probably cancel my switch preorder but I do have a zelda master edition preordered and a pro controller and will keep those.

So 90 + 109 cdn
which is basically 200 cdn.

If I do get the switch at launch than we are looking at 640 cdn for everything.

I'm trying to help you out, my brother. You'll find that game for $20 by the end of the year.

Not too much.

I kind of wheeled and dealed though.
Gamestop had PS3 160 fats they were selling for 39.99- so I traded in some old stuff and got two of those. Would be 85$ but spent about 55$ because of trades
Amazon trades in for 83 and change- so 83 x 2 = 166
I also traded in my vita to amazon for 84$- 250

So out of pocket for this, I'm not counting what I spent on the vita years ago.

Is- 73.99 for the switch and 64.99 Zelda + the 55 I spent on the Ps3's

$194- as opposed to buying outright and spending 388.77

So I saved myself about 195$ by going to stores when prices were low and trading in while prices are high.- Pretty good.

$175
Switch and pro controller from GameStop credit.
$50 Zelda for $50 at amazon
$40 1 2 Switch at amazon
$15 for a Switch case at amazon
$50 for the Deluxe Zelda Guide at amazon
$20 for both the Zelda Amiibo at Walmart because of my discount and a sale.

Not bad for a Console Launch.

Just ordered a 200GB micro-SD card...

What's crazy is this little micro-SD has more storage than my OS SSD... ...and cost less...

While that may be true, there is actually a worrying trend that I see people often overlooking. Read speeds on MicroSD aren't comparable to SSD, like not even close. They're more inline with mid-performing HDDs (and that's the better ones). Then there's the question of the mediums reliability over the course of an entire gen (especially so for those who are planning on going all-digital for Switch and will be reading / writing constantly to it).

If I do end up getting a Switch myself, I'll almost certainly go physical and buy a capable sized MicroSD for patches / dlc. Then again, there's the question of Switch cartridge read / write speeds as well, which is currently unknown. Those tests should be interesting.
