Amazon Cancelling Master Edition's of Zelda: BotW Orders

I think Amazon sucks at managing preorders.

I remember on Wii U, on Amazon France I preordered Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water like 5 minutes after the preorders went live, they cancelled my order 2 DAYS before the release date, without giving me any discount coupons, and friends of mine who ordered like 1 week before the release go it...

Amazon just sucks sometimes. Often.

Damn I should always keep my preorders so I can get $10 when they are cancelled XD
I had it but decided no to get it because I'm spending too much already.

This is a fuck.

I ordered within like three minutes of it being available.

Fucking NoA.

EDIT: I just checked the thread – the first "IT'S UP!!!!!!!!!" post was at 3:23am, and I posted that I got one at 3:24am. And I still wasn't fast enough? Christ.
Yeah I mean I might go to town on Amazon and challenge them somehow. It would be interesting to see what on earth happened behind the scenes.

NOA decides they don't have enough CE's because they're NA. They can either get bad blood with multiple vendors by cancelling or they can just tell one vendor.

Wow, if that were true I'd totally not blame Amazon for blacklisting Nintendo after that. Seems like a bad idea to do it one vendor who also happens to sell a lot. But then again, hasn't Amazon been pissed at Nintendo before and not carried their stuff so maybe they don't sell much Nintendo stuff usually so Nintendo felt they were expendable?

Honestly, with Nintendo's rep I'd have thought Nintendo... but it does seem weird that so far it's just Amazon with the problem. Some one though messed up badly though cause it is wrong that they only waited til now to tell people (when there is absolutely no chance of them finding another pre order somewhere else).

I feel for you guys who have their order cancelled :(. That sux. I've never had it happen to me but I know with a few special editions I bought I'd be very upset if it happened. And I'm guessing with what I got there was still more chance of grabbing one than this item.

The worse thing is Zelda: BotW Switch is starting to sell out everywhere.

So now some people might not even be able to play Zelda on launch now....

WIi U version wins yet again.

Also yeah Angry Joe did a video about his Titanfall 2 collectors edition getting randomly cancelled on amazon. Their video game division is some of the worst on the internet unless its a common game.

It was up for like an hour at 3 AM. Mine got cancelled despite placing it the moment it went up. It's now being canceled a week prior to the release date and Nintendo has a history with this.

It's very doubtful that this is Amazon's fault.

either scenario is possible, but i know it happened in the way i mentioned at least once. i'm not sure how it functions, but if the system on their side doesn't cap properly, it will keep allowing preorders long past the actual cap. plus, if this is an amazon-only issue, i think it points to a problem being on their side. if this was widespread and happening at other retailers too, it would definitely point to it being a nintendo issue.

When has Amazon taken too many preorders?

Some googling showed me a weird sku, and someone changing their billing info on GAF during preorder which screwed up the order process.

And this is why some of us buy rare shit from more than one source. Some think it is all about greed. No, it is because shit like this can happen.
Still doesn't justify people trying to sell it on Ebay after the fact.

"Got an extra. Might as well exploit the shit out of the next guy!"

Wasn't there huge problems with the Zero Time Dilemma watch edition too? And also Amazon US has had a weird relationship with Nintendo since the DS Lite iirc (might be 3DS).

Yeah did something similar recently, I changed the shipping speed of Nioh right before it shipped from 2 day to 1 day and then back to 2 day, ended up getting stuck waiting for a restock. Ended up getting it cheaper during the Best Buy visa checkout + GCU deal though, so it worked out ok.

I've pre-ordered a crap-ton of stuff from Amazon.

I've only ever had trouble with Nintendo products.

Amazon has the most advanced e-commerce software on the planet; they run a good chunk of the internet on their back-ends, have great software all around.

I don't think it's logical to suggest this was an Amazon issue; it sounds like they got shorted on supply they had negotiated.

Why Amazon and not others? Because Nintendo favors retail giants, not online stores.

I'm thinking Amazon expected to get more from Nintendo than they actually are going to get, so they set their pre-order limit too high. I'm more compelled to think Nintendo is up to their shenanigans of controlling availability of their products than that Amazon just completely whiffed it.

As the above poster said, it seems to always be Nintendo products that Amazon has issues with, so something tells me this lies on Nintendo.

There does not seem to be on the surface any rhyme or reason to who got cancelled. People who ordered in the first minute got cancelled. people who ordered 8 minutes later got cancelled. people who ordered 3 minutes after safe.

So what's everyone think the Amazon pre-order cancellation selection process looks like?

Throwing random darts at a board?

So far it appears every third minute is safe!

Maybe that's how it seems online at this moment, but I really doubt anyone is going to be hard pressed to find BotW Switch if they live in an area with at least a few retailers.

Yeah I was able to order it from walmart.com, they have free release day shipping.

Still pretty BS that Amazon is sold out of the regular edition.

And Walmart has the NES classic for sale I noticed as well...for 166 dollars. REDUCED PRICE it says on the ad lol.

This happened with fire emblem limited edition on Amazon.

Then they made it available for 5 minutes before it was sold out.

So keep hitting refresh page.

LOL at all those Amazon preorders that were sold on eBay.

Am I a horrible person if I smiled when I read the title because this is what I was thinking of

So soon to release too. I'm furious. I ordered the same night as the original Switch reveal, right when they went up. They gave a $10 credit for the inconvenience.

This is why I always do system/special edition orders with GameStop.

I put principles/economics aside for these types of things - GameStop has yet to do what Amazon + Best Buy, do en mass: cancel orders.

I always preach this, yet many never listen.

They are by FAR the most reliable.

Wait till switches start getting canceled

Well with the Switch they had pre-orders available the day they first were able to and then a few times afterwards as well. I think if you ordered on the first day you will definitely get one. And the digital version of Zelda will be available on day one as well.

This would be less weird if Amazon had the listing up too long, but it was lightning fast.

I'm expecting more cancellations for Switch Consoles.
Horizon Special Editions.
Persona 5 Collectors editions

Zero Time Dilemma's...er, dilemma happened because the watches were damaged before they even got to Amazon. That was a crazy saga though. People couldn't even get the game by itself for a long time.
