Amazon Cancelling Master Edition's of Zelda: BotW Orders

Sorry, not sure I follow - Zelda won't be available at midnight?

Buying Switch and Pro Controller from BestBuy at midnight, got it all preordered but hoping to get a case at that time. I just enjoy the whole waiting in line with like minded fans.

Breath of the Wild is coming via Amazon as a Master Edition (all things hoping)

Also picking up a BotW on Wii U at midnight release.

Gives all the fucks
Sent an email expressing my disappointment in the situation (though I did so while stating I understood part of the problem was the supplier), got another $10 out of it. Well, $20 total is better than a shrug & "sorry, we can't do anything about it".

Maybe sometime next week, they'll have a new wave of at least the Special Edition from people cancelling pre-orders & I can get that. The figurine is give or take, I'd be content with just the other items. Otherwise, guess I can pre-order Nier Automata & pay only $10 (or Super Bomberman R & pay only $1.79) since I had $20 in gift cards that were put towards the Master Edition.

I started a chat with Amazon customer service, here's what the guy said:

I'm filing a complaint. Our team will work on this and email you with any updates
If there is any issue they will email you.

So he's filing a complaint with...Amazon? Amazon's customer service track record, particularly as a very early adopter of the Kindle, has been incredible, though I'm not hopeful in this particular case.

I tried to change the shipping address on my standard edition pre-order but the system won't let me do it AND it caused the status to change to:

Delivery estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you via e-mail as soon as we have an estimated delivery date.

Great. FFS Amazon

I chatted with customer service, person wasn't able to help, suggested to connect me to "the supervisor" to which I agreed... been waiting for 10 minutes

I feel like Amazon has a sort of Apple approach to customer service. It's better than most companies, but nothing amazing, except occasionally you get the right person or they're encouraged to go above and beyond. See the guy in this thread that had a rep searching for a replacement for him and then giving $90 in credit. That's crazy good service.

Want to hear the solution to these, I've got a couple of these. I know that if you complain enough sometimes they will somehow give your order back.

Ohh, gotcha. Hopefully it comes from Amazon a day early or something for you!

Since it's somewhat related...

I've had Wii U Breath of the Wild pre-ordered since June 18th 2015, and I've moved a couple times since then. When I updated my address back mid-December, my pre-order went from having a delivery estimate (Which was, I think, Dec 31st 2017 at the time since no real date was out yet) to the same "Delivery estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you via e-mail as soon as we have an estimated delivery date." thing. It's been this way ever since.

I've been getting a little concerned so I sent them an e-mail on Monday asking when I can expect the game to ship or an estimate, or if there's been any kind of complications and this is what I got:

Amazon said:
Hello,

I understand that you want to confirm the package delivery date for your pre-order.

I checked and confirm that the item has placed with priority shipping and the item will be released on March 3, 2017.

In this case, once the item getting released, we'll ship the item which is placed with priority shipping within one day and getting to be delivered. So, I can confirm that we still expect to ship your order in time to be delivered to you by March 3, 2017.

We'll send you an e-mail when your order is shipped with your tracking number.

You can always check the status of your order in Your Account. Here's a direct link to the order details:

<some url to my order>

We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Broken grammar aside, it doesn't really instill much confidence and gives no real information. The rep is pretty much saying I just gotta trust it'll come on time. For comparison, I ordered that Art and Artifacts book on the 1st, got an estimate on the 10th, and it shipped on the 20th. It's night and day between the two. Only difference that I can see is that Nintendo isn't the publisher in the case of the book, so it's my speculation that Nintendo is withholding shipments due to fear of leaks (Especially the Wii U version since it's so easy to copy) or just supply incompetence. In regards to the cancellations, I'm afraid I'm leaning more in Amazon's favor given they never have issues unless it's Nintendo related, and due to Nintendo's own track record.

Didn't Amazon and Nintendo have some disputes a while back where you couldn't buy any Nintendo hardware from them for a year? Maybe the two companies just have a poor relationship. Again, just speculation of course but... When I can't get an real answers even when asking for them, what else can a person do?

There's nothing much they can do. They can't materialize a limited item out of thin air.

Maybe it's just my luck, but Amazon has alwyas had the best cs in my experiences. Sending me items overnight when shipping got screwed, even sending me a new monitor when the one I got was fubar and not requiring me to send it back first (since I needed a monitor to work), etc.

This situation has got to be terrible for those affected, but it seems to be in Nintendos side of the court with the number they are making available rather then amazon screwed it all up.

I ordered a copy of the Special and Master Edition through Amazon. The first was at 3:25AM EST, and the Master one minute later. Had the Master canceled last night, and was sent that same email many were sent about extra orders were canceled due to limited stock this morning from Amazon.

I've called twice, and it was forwarded to some department that will get back to me supposedly in a day or two. My thinking is that if anyone ordered both editions, Amazon chose to cancel one as they viewed it the same SCU, which obviously it isn't...

Did anyone else have a similar experience?

I preordered both and both of my orders are still up. Not going to feel relieved until it shows up at my door.

I got the email, but I didn't order duplicates only one Master Edition. I'm in the clear. It'll probably piss off hoarders and flippers, but to hell with them. Everybody should be allowed 1 per copy

Well in my case I ordered two as one was for my friend who was not awake when they went on sale. And I had the opportunity to pick up three from Amazon and multiple from GameStop and BestBuy if I wanted to, but I didn't because I assumed Amazon could honor their pre-order since they were already limiting quantities. I assume others were buying for friends or family members as well. So it's not really just "hoarders and flippers". Not to mention the various people who only ordered one and got theirs cancelled.

Glad everything worked out okay for you though.

Edit:

Also from my transcript with customer support:

I do understand your concern. It is based on the update we receive from our suppliers. We received an recent update which has caused this cancellation.
I do understand that this should not happen at any cause and to prevent this in the future, we've already escalated this issue to concern team. We'll try our best to fix this from our side.

Pretty sure I'm SOL. I really didn't want to pay a scalper... I'll see how much I end up paying :/ Not that high, though..

I have now blacklisted Amazon from any Nintendo LEs, along eith my previous "bubble mailer-sized LEs" from years back. Screw Prime discount if I can't even get extreme limiteds.

I think my luck ran out when I obtained the even rarer Neptunia Re;Birth LE on Amazon. Was that ever a night on GAF!

Turns out the cancellations are part of the marketing for a new movie...

I just realized I'm part of that movie poster :D
I don't seem to have a proper role, but there I am!

Oh hey, me too!

*sigh* Still trying to decide on my options of how I'll get my copy. I'm going to get it, one way or another. I just always feel dirty giving it to scalpers. I tried giving some on eBay some best offers (since thry were offering!) One guy had the ego to say that he didn't want to go that low because he wanted to "break even" with the going eBay rate. What does that even mean?! He's already making bank from profiting!

Speaking of cancellations, I snagged a SE on ebay for a BIN of $120. But seller of course cancelled my order because someone apparently offered them more for it. Gah I'm heated. Thet are a new seller too. Thought I would give them a chance.

Woops.

Flag 'em on eBay. That's greedy. These Zelda scalpers....

It happens every once in a while. I've probably lost 5 limited items this way from Amazon before.

I've never had any limited item cancelled and have had Prime practically since day one.

I'll sell my copy of the game out of the Master edition. Ended up canceling my Switch pre-order. Going to wait for the holidays to get the Switch.

And now I got an email about the Wii U version no longer having a release date. What is going on at Amazon with this game?

"The item(s) you ordered is not yet released. We will notify you of a specific delivery date when one is available."

That's happen frequently to me and always end up getting the title on time.
I want to say don't panic, but the Wii U version looks to be sold out as well so who knows what's going on
