Capcom announces The Disney Afternoon Collection for PS, XB1 and PC [Port beg = ban]

Dunno if I can play chip and Dale again. For some reason subconsciously, that game scares me. I'll have to try it again.

I'm totally here on Day 1 for this.

For everyone complaining about missing Disney Capcom games not on this collection, please understand that this is the Disney Afternoon Collection. If you're too young to know what that is, it was a block of afternoon TV programming that Disney had on local channels during the 80's and 90's for 2 hours that included shows like Gummy Bears, Ducktales, Chip 'N Dale's Rescue Rangers, TaleSpin, Darkwing Duck, Goof Troop, Bonkers, and Gargoyles. At the time, Capcom made many good games based on these shows on the NES, including Ducktales, Ducktales 2, Darkwing Duck, TaleSpin, Chip 'N Dale, and Chip 'N Dale 2. They made Goof Tropp, Bonkers, and Gargoyles on SNES, but this is an NES collection.

Aladdin, Lion King, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Mickey's Mouscapades, amongst others are not on this because either they weren't made by Capcom, weren't on NES, or weren't in the Disney Afternoon block.

Careful man, people getting sniped in here.

EDIT: Oh I see.
I was thinking talking about the possible WHY might be ok, but not only was there that warning but the more I think about it that could end up derailing anyway.

Regardless I'd want to see how the port quality ends up before grabbing on either PS4 or Steam, since I'm assuming Digital Eclipse is doing it again.

So I didn't really play...Any of these games as a kid but I watched the shit out of the shows. Ducktails and Tailspin was my jam as a kid. There may not be nostalgia in the games for me, but I'm still in for this day 1.

I literally bought the NES version of Ducktales yesterday, what bizzare timing.

Huh? What territory is this from? I've only ever seen this version of the cart:

Man I forgot about that Chip and Dale game. I remember being terrible at it as a kid lol is it considered to be a difficult game or did I just suck?

Pretty sure that's the Euro version. The circle-round Seal of Quality with minimal text is the giveaway. The US had it round on the oldest NES games but it had more complicated text like "This seal is your assurance that Nintendo has assessed blah blah"

Ah, I don't think I've ever realized the Euro seal is more circular than oval shaped like the US until now. At a glance I assumed it was the same logo even though clearly it's not.

Nice, I'm trying to think of any other games that could be included... was there a Goof Troop game? I guess not on NES which is what this collection is limited to.

Hopefully this will make the NES prices drop for Duck Tales 2 & Chip N Dale 2.

Not a chance. Re-releases of expensive NES games haven't made a dent in their prices. Collectors specifically want original carts.

Can't watch the vid right now, what does "new and improved HD version" mean?

Is this just a simple scale jobbie, or did they actually update the graphics?

I had no idea there was a DuckTales 2.

Might get this day one.

It was fantastic. Had upgrades for scrooge's pogo stick in some levels and an optional subquest where you had to find all the pieces to a treasure map.

Would anyone even buy it there anymore?

Just scaling seeing the trailer.

Extras like sketches will be nice and crisp though, so there's that. Though that might be a rare case of wanting Pro support merely to be able to have super high resolution scans of that stuff.

All the "Capcom would never port Darkwing Duck/Rescue Rangers" and "lol Capcom don't like money" guys from other discussions regarding the collection when it was just a rumour must feel pretty stupid now.

Day one

I'm surprised Capcom somehow got (or bothered to get) the rights for this.

Kinda sad it's only NES and no SNES games though.

I doubt they feel all that stupid. Most are probably happy to have been wrong .

Surprised, though pleased, they got the DuckTales sequel included. I've heard so much about the first game (and I own and love the WFT's Remastered version in particular), but I've hardly hear anything about the second.

If you're referring to the Castle of Illusion remake, that was published by Sega, not Capcom. For comparison's sake, Capcom and WFT's DuckTales Remastered is still available; so I presume they may have a longer / more permanent lifespan on digital avenues.

lol yup, speaking of which...

I got you fam

OMG that image lol ok you made my day. Wasn't expecting it so soon lol I love my Switch and heres hoping it gets more love than Wiiu, but damn that burn fam.

Stupid twitter had me convinced they were remaking an NES compilation cart. Too good to be true.

This isn't a bad collection but I don't think I'll pick it up. The best game in here by a mile is Darkwing Duck. Such an awesome Mega Man clone but I already own it and the extras don't seem to be too enticing.

I also own Ducktales but never understood everyone's fascination with it. The music is great but the game is just a high score rush with boss battles, the controls are wonky and it's too easy.

I love how people are getting banned here. Drive by comments without reading the OP is my pet peeve.

I think i actually have some of the NES cartridges for these somewhere. I remember spending some good times as a kid play rescue rangers co-op and I think it was the first game i ever competed on my own.

Definitely gonna keep an eye on this for nostalgia appeal.

Man, I forgot about that Ducktales NES game. Used to play it in elementary during recess if if was raining outside. Loved that pogo stick.
