The fact that it doesn't match the subs makes it even better. I know it's almost certainly an error in the text, but I like to think the VA just got really into character and adlibbed.
So does anyone else see Emils shop song being the original Niers theme as... kind of depressing?
Like, it's this beautiful amazing song, but it's like Emil can only remember the tune without context, so he turned it into a jingle to sell his junk.
He should team up with pascal. Really turn those child cores into big business.

Finally got to that second Emil fight. Think I've just about done everything, ready to delete that save file.
Honestly for how long I spent play thing game, I can't believe I feel so excited to play through it all again sometime soon.

Disclaimer: I still need to get through ending E, am trying to finish up all the other joke-endings first.
So just to be clear, the 'cycle' of Android/machine war --> one side gets an advantage ---> wipe everything out --> re-build-up --> restart the war has happened more than once already? Or just 2B killing 9S during a bunch of missions via some form or another.
Because A2's dialogue to 9S only indicates that 2B has killed him a bunch of times, as does the 'this always happens' espoused by 2B in ending A....
And the overall cycle of androids vs machines is perpetuated (either the original conflict, or the 2nd/3rd/etc... variation therein) by this machine consciousness (that is also faking being the humans on the Moon) for....what purpose?
The two holo-girls are kinda obtuse (though they also mention evolving to a higher form of consciousness via conflict with the androids) and my mind was trying to take it all in at the time. Ending D indicates that they want to leave Earth, but I'm still not sure I get their intent (as machines who have gained consciousness after the aliens landed)

I was honestly dreading getting Ending D because of how vicious 9S was.
If you chapter select into ending E, it shows the last scene from ending C before starting the credits fight. So yeah, if there's a canon path it's A = B > C > E
D is the worst case scenario. It definitely not supposed to end like that LOL

Yea. It's pretty cool, or dark.
I'm not sure what to think about it haha.
It was my favorite track of the first game. It was so full of emotion.
And here comes Emil being Emil. Turning it into a hilarious little song.
So I'm playing again on my double dipped PC version after playing all the way through on the HK ps4 version and I noticed something really odd. The robot philosopher in Pascal's village had a name change from Sartre to Jean-Paul. Obviously this character is a direct reference to Jean-Paul Sartre but why change his name for the US version?
Is this some really strange form of censorship? It's a bizarre conclusion but I can't think of any other reason to do a name change from the much more identifiable Sartre to the less obvious Jean-Paul. Maybe making it less obvious was supposed to make it less "on the nose" but I find it extremely odd.

It was a bit immersion breaking though cause he came around the crater just as A2 was going into the tower...they were trying to have this somber send off and here comes emil singing that damn song lmao
Yeah i think D is probably not the intended route. It makes me feel better cause A2 didn't deserve to get offed like that. And 9S just looked like even more of an idiot falling on someone else's sword and dying by accident

Beauvoir had a name change of similar fashion. NA version changes the name to Simone. Both still being a reference to the same person (Simone de Beouvoir). I kind of feel you may be on the money in assuming they wanted to be less on the nose.
I see no issue with it, but an interesting change nonetheless.

Man I'm buying a new GPU so selling off some of my stuff to make it easier and that includes selling this game off, but I don't want to for some reason eventhough I've done everything and got plat (semi-legit way, didn't bother to get trophies for grindy stuff).

It's one of the few games I'm actually really glad o have a physical copy of to keep. I'm still thinking about it. It's got 1-2 minor flaws, but I think it's this guy's magnum opus, the best game SE has released since at least FFXII, a masterpiece, and probably one of my favorite games ever.
The replicants died of age and new ones weren't created as there were no Gestalts to gather the data from for the Replicant creation system.
So Replicants weren't made to reproduce?

I think the plan was that reproduction would come back once they were reunited with their Gestalts. But I haven't seen anything confirming or denying that.

This is indeed the case.
According to Grimoire NieR the Replicants are taken to a facility and put to sleep by their overseeing androids, and then they're handed a Replicant baby.
Actually I've now just realized that the whole thing about Replicants is really in-line with this game's themes of endless cyclical content (they're even called the Recycled Vessels). The same bodies are constantly reborn over and over until the Black Scrawl kills them and wipes their DNA out of the pool.

Just beat the third playthrough, and it's an amazing game.
I wish they did something more different in the second playthrough. It became a chore doing it back to back with the first one. The third picks it up amazingly though!

Out of all of Taro's protagonists, I think Zero wins the Sufferlympics. She deserves freedom from Yoko Taro's wild ride.
The best thing about Zero is that
Caim and Nier are presented as traditional heroes who are eventually revealed to be messed up, but for Zero it's the opposite. The people she kills are all already dead and there's nothing she can do to save them, and her sisters are all monstrous fakes. She's arguably the most traditionally heroic Yoko protagonist.

I was referring to the main characters of the series. Emil probably wins overall, but at least he found happiness as a truck (unless you murder him, I mean).
