So behind the 3DS and Wii U, mostly in line with the PS4. I'm oddly surprised. Must be supply constraints.

Lol @ that 3DS graph. That price drop was the best decision they ever made, I think.

Meanwhile one can see how the Wii U still started strong but then slowed to a crawl, and the PS4 trailed behind it for quite some time but has gradually caught up.

All in the legs.

I wouldn't compare the opening weeks too much to the Wii U seeing as that released in the holiday period. If it falls off in to the 10K region like Wii U did then that spells disaster. If it can keep 40K plus then it looks good.

It's amazing to see those Switch numbers for a non holiday release. Did the PS4 was launched on a similar period in Japan?

...Now that you mention it, yes actually. February 22nd, so less than two weeks apart from when Switch launched, sans the year. So that's probably the most apt thing to compare it against for sales performance.

There has been a break in tradition of Nintendo's portables having a backwards compatible successor, which will probably help.

Well that is definitely one of the reason but imo bigger is that Vita is also selling way worse than PS consoles historically sell during their late life. Without Minecraft though Vita would be pretty dead already so it's already living on extra time.

3DS also launched in late february (2011).

Same thing can be said on 3ds. It was released on February

Perhaps, but that doesn't account for the 3DS.

Monster Hunter XX, sold less than 1 million ? And Capcom is expecting to sell 2 million by the end of April ? Good luck with that.

I confess that I did not pre-order Monster Hunter XX, because I was waiting for Capcom to announce a Switch port of the game.

Zelda is doing good on Switch, and on Wii U too, maybe it reaches 100k on Wii U. Bomberman also is doing great.

I am curious to see how Disgaea 5 and Dragon Quest Heroes I & II sold this week.

Capcom should tell that to their investors.

"900k is bad for MH but Idea Factory would kill for that!"
"1.3m in two weeks is bad for MH but Square Enix would kill for Final Fantasy to do that!"

So at first I said "Capcom will probably throw MH up on Switch once 3DS production ends" now I don't even really think it matters. They could keep adding X's onto their title and bank off the existing install base. GL Switch

I find it strange that we are so optimistic about the Switch sales. Is it because it's sold out? That doesn't mean we know how much it would have sold if it wasn't sold out though. Isn't it fair to compare it to 3DS? Or is this a different situation because it's primarily a home console? The Wii U launched with NSMB U which is bigger than Zelda in Japan and also was Wii U only, and Nintendo Land which is pretty much equal to 1 2 switch. What makes us think the Switch is doing OK at the moment? I know Wii U launched in the holiday period and that's why I didn't compare numbers to it, just the current games.

Can't wait for MHXXXX to sell 40k FW.

Also, 5pb Games announced more than 40,000 sales (maybe shipped ?) for YU-NO even though there are less than 20,000 sales here.
The 40k number includes digital, which means if mc numbers are accurate then the digital versions actually sold more than the physical. Not too surprising though considering that even amazon jp never stocked any version of the game and it was only available through a handful of third party sellers.

Edit - and now the famitsu numbers put physical on top again. Though still a very high digital/physical ratio.

the optimism generally comes from it being a more attractive product overall. Also, the first year lineup is a lot better than the Wii Us

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Perhaps, but that doesn't account for the 3DS.

3DS had a very good first week and an amazing second week (Japanese launch being one month before Western's helps in stocking the system), then the system started falling down, going from around 90,000 units in its third week (Week 10, 2011) to around 23,000 units in its 9th week (Week 16, 2011). It actually went below 20,000 units sold right after Golden Week holidays ended (Week 19, 2011). Strong start, but quite frontloaded. Still a lot better than PS4/PSV/Wii U's first weeks as a whole, of course.

Chris1964 can you please correct Yu-No's title? It's "Kono Yo no Hate de Koi o Utau Shoujo Yu-No", not "Hashite". Thanks!

I could see shipped + digital not being too far from 2 million

Great hold for the PS4, was expecting sub 25k's by now.

Senran Kagura with a nice debut.

That SAO collab launch is rough though.

A great week for the 3DS! The Switch doesn't seem to have affected its momentum at all, they definitely appear to have different audiences.

MHXX boosted 3DS sales again.
Imagine MHXX being a Switch only game from the beginning.

Yeah, I can totally imagine how worse shortages would be. Definitely a "good thing" there's no MH at launch.

Here we go again. MediaCreate and Famitsu's discrepancies lol

3DS hardware is 56k and MHXX over a million.

Wow, 166 117 units discrepancy. I think that's the worst discrepancy ever between Famitsu and MC, and no download cards to explain it.

Switch numbers match between Media Create and Famitsu for 3rd week: Shortage continues. 4th week is supposed to be the one supply increases, maybe it won't be only a 10k rise.
