The only person who politicized this entire situation was JonTron. He was the one who went on Twitter and wrote those things. Nobody was asking for his hot take on the issues at hand, the grand majority of people weren't even thinking about it. But he put himself out there, he made those statements, and now he has to deal with the consequences of having voiced those opinions.

You can still just play video games, also. Nobody is forcing you to have these discussions, just like nobody forced Jon.

It's pretty much like business, since being a popular Youtuber IS a business after all, you don't mix your job and politics, you'll end up facing conflics and losing colleagues if you go against the grain.

I know you're disagreeing with Jon, but it sounds like you're painting a bunch of others with a wide brush. Agreed. I really don't understand the people who are trying to suggest that 1) there shouldn't be any consequences to what he says, and 2) Playtonic has no right to decide who gets to be in the game. I just don't understand why anyone would disagree with Playtonic's decision here.

They are under no legal, moral, or ethical obligation to keep stick with JonTron if they feel like that association would negatively affect the perception of their team\project. Hell, even if it's a personal decision because they think he's just a vile shitbag, that's still perfectly within their rights.

I just have to assume that anyone that has a problem with this also shares the same views as JonTron, because this seems like a perfectly reasonable course of action to me.
