Pathfinding is the age old problem RTS games always have and Starcraft probably did it the best out of the 90's games. I even have a local magazine review from back then where they were praising it compared to other titles back then. UI is classic, many other games use it. If by UI you mean how you can only select 12 units or train 5 units at a time, thats not UI, thats some of the games dumb design decisions that Blizzard employed, they were bad then and bad now. Thats how the game was made. We always had to play the game around this shit. The way "dated" is thrown around seems as if its some unplayable piece of shit that you cant spend 5 minutes in before quitting in disgust. Which is completely false. The games playability is immense. Same as with most RTS games.

You're proving my point. BW pathfinding was great FOR THE 90's. It's not great by 2017 standards. That literally means the game has aged.

Your statement that PC games don't age and console games do is rediculous.

what are the 2017 standards of pathfinding in rts games? Please. About the age issue, if you think about it thats what people on this forum mean. Just now theres a topic about the best looking ps2 games and people are saying most of them are hard to get back to. And those are few year old games. You can fire Maniac Mansion from 87 and play it the same way you do an adventure game that came out last year. You fire Doom from 93 and play it like you do now. Fire Red Alert from 96 and you play it just as you played Grey Goo right now. Pathfinding and small quality of life improvements over the years dont warrant a "the game aged so bad its unplayable" how a lot of people like to exagerate.

1v1 Lost Temple Gosu only!

3v3 BGH! Let's go!

Match making would be cool though!

And UMS? Please let us UMS, I'll even maybe make some more maps...

I'm amazed at them making it compatible with the original BW. Proves that the gameplay is perfectly unchanged even if the rendering isn't.

It's a bit unfortunate they didn't polish the animations, but it looks pretty good. Being able to zoom out a bit is certainly an improvement.

I played the shit out of that game back in the day, but last time I tried going back I found it unplayable.

I have adapted to modern gaming conveniences..... like units going where I fucking tell them to go.

Hope its a boxed release and not digital only. Usually Blizzard does box release on their games.

Also, didn't hear anything about the FMV's. Are they remastering those are no?

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
This is cool. I like this.

I'd love for Warcraft 2 to get the same treatment, but apparently they are less inclined to do that because the gameplay isn't as compelling today as SC is.

Was I the only one who loved Starcraft 2? Crazy.
No, not at all. It's just the vocal minority saying it sucks.

When it comes to the highest level of competitive play then it might suck compared to BW for all I know, but the rest of the game is fuckin stellar (story being the exception).

SC:BW has shitty pathfinding, and the fact that it does is actually integral to the balance of the game.

I don't suppose they'd do a cheaper upgrade for people who still have valid copies of Starcraft and Broodwar. Giving away the free versions is super cool, but when remasters come up on PC usually there are free upgrades to those with the originals.

I wonder if the use map settings/custom scene will be reinvigorated. The SC2 version never really seemed to catch on.

As someone that missed the original when it came out, I'm happy. I tried to play the original a few years ago, but it was too much of a pain messing with it to getting it to work right on modern hardware.

Welp, time to get addicted to this game again. Hopefully the community will come back strong for it. Anyone want to recommend a good PC or Laptop for someone who doesn't want to build one? My 7 year old laptop will probably not be able to play it since the integrated graphics card sucks.

Were you trying to run these from original CDs or?

I bought the digital versions. I forgot what issue I had. I think it was some sort of color issue or something. I did get it to work eventually, but it was very "retro". For whatever reason, I can enjoy black and white movies and even silent films, but older video games turn me off. The remastered HD graphics will help for StarCraft.
