Has anyone had the promotion claim go through? Mine is saying under review. Just wondered how long it usually takes.

Phone is amazing. The 8+ is a phone that finally feels comfortable in my hands.

Received my S8+ a couple hours ago.

So far all I can say is...wow. Nicest piece of tech I think I've ever owned. The screen is unbelievable.

Only thing I'm not crazy about is the fingerprint sensor on the back. It's tiny and difficult to locate, especially with the case on

But other than that, wow.

So from what I can tell the only way to fix the clock format on the lock screen is to buy a theme that changes a bunch of other shit. So basically use always on screen and ignore 'll lock screen for time.

I used the Shop Samsung app to sign up for the promotion. When it said Choose Which Promotion, there were two options: Gear VR w/ controller and the free content.

I assume the free content comes with the Gear VR, yes? Is it a code or something?

yeh with the syncing that happens for apps via the google store anyways when you log in on a new device i don't really see the need for these extra syncing services.

maybe to transfer sms etc, but apps, photo's ..hell even google apps these days have that password sync thing. i'd just skip the samsung transfer stuff

Mine has now "Departed the facility" in my city, don't know if that means that it's out for delivery or not though.

EDIT: NVM, now it's out for delivery :D

So, do you guys think I should use the Smart Switch or just treat as a new device? And maybe get a backup of a few apps here and there to set them up easily?

got my first one today, it's a thing of beauty.

one thing i noticed is that it's at 1080p by default? is there any reason to increase it to 2k?

I'd actually love to trade in my 6S for this in the U.K.; the design is so good. The prices for the 6S here though seem appalling.

Seems here in Australia Samsung broke their own street date and have loads delivered already, as have Woolworths and Vodafone, Telstra and Optus are sitting in distribution center limbo..... I want my new phone!!!!

Got mine this morning and I have some valuable informations for people intending to protect the S8.

I tried to go without a protection with my S6 ans it was not a success, I broke the screen two times and it was full of micro scratch and little dents.

With the S8, I want to keep for a long time and protect my investment so I ordered the Spigen Crystal Hybrid Metal Kickstand case https://www.spigen.com/products/galaxy-s8-case-ultra-hybrid-s?variant=30615916353

And a glass screen protector https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WV78236/?tag=neogaf0e-20

Well it didn't have all those bad reviews when I ordered it, but I can confirm it is really bad and don't work at all with my case...
People who absolutely want a glass screen protection should wait for more products and reviews because I think a lot of the products on the market day one are garbage...

Because of this mess, I still don't have set up and played with the phone yet.

The G Color curved tempered glass one gets good reviews but it's pricey.

I'm currently backing up all my data so I can't fiddle with the screen display, but I'm noticing a red hue all around the edges. It's very distracting on the setting menu and I wonder if others notice this too, or if I will be able to correct the flaw.

New buyer stress is at high level right now !

My S8+ has arrived but no sign of the clear view case I pre-ordered from Samsung, order status on it is still Processing.
If I see the case for sale in town I think I'll just grab one and send back the one from Samsung when it comes, or try to cancel it before it ships.

Refreshing my tracking page by the minute waiting for an update. At 3am it got given to courier. As of 6am it was in Royal Mails hands.

Can anyone who picked up the crystal clear Spigen case post real life pics when you get it. I have the neo-hybrid at home but might switch.

I've had an iPhone since the first gen except when the s4 active came out (liked the bigger screen and water restance) . I had that until the 6 plus came out. The s8 looks incredible but I'm too heavily invested into ios given all the $ I've spent on apps and that my wife and friends all have iPhone and iPads which is nice for face time. Otherwise I would get this phone

Are you getting from Samsung direct?

The only indication I have is on my order tracking page it says all items shipped but dispatch info is still processing so I have no idea who the courier is.

I'm seriously considering changing myorder to an s8 instead. Alot of the battery life comparisons seem to indicate there isn't a significant improvement on the s8+. Why else would you get the s8+ if battery isn't a reason? I think the smaller screen is a lot better.

I want to see a comparison from gsmarena and anantech and then i might switch it.

Given that more people pre-ordered the S8+ I guess most people like the larger screen.

Me, if they made one the size of the S6 edge, I'd be getting that one, but S7 edge wasn't too big for me.

Because I better believe a better larger screen and better battery life is more better.

That's the edge notification. It's also active when the screen is on.

I've never gotten edge notification to work when my phone is upside down. Is this due to not using a supported app or does the lip of the case prevent this from happening?

Ugh, everywhere I go they only have the black, silver and violet clear view case. Looks like the Blue one isn't actually coming out for another week.
I don't want to go a week without a case really, should I just bite the bullet and get the black case?
(Got the S8+ in black for context)

Edit - Found a listing for it on Amazon and should arrive Saturday. I can handle tomorrow with no case.
