Hopefully they take this opportunity to slow down the pace of the multiplayer.

Playing COD4 Remastered, after having played every Call of Duty game after and including Modern Warfare, I was surprised by how often I had the time to think about doing something then get the chance to execute it, for example "I'm going to take this route to get there".

Call of Duty has been getting quicker and quicker such that it's at the point, now, where it just feels like you're flinging yourself into engagements and flipping a coin on whether or not you won or lose, over and over. The death, kill loop is so fast.

I had the exact same experience with MWR. That's why I stuck with it for several months instead of dropping it immediately like IW's.

TTK is so low past roughly WAW that the game's essentially feel like virtual laser tag at this point. I don't even bother with the multiplayer anymore because it's just boring. I probably wouldn't even bother with the games at all anymore except on steep steam sales but somehow they almost always end up as a stocking stuffer from someone around christmas time lol

I had a blast with the Advanced Warfare campaign, but I'm still looking forward to going back to the WWII era. CoD2 was probably my favorite entry in the series so far.

I feel you brother but we've gotta let it go:/

But I feel so cheated...
Haha, unfortunately I've only seen up to First Class feel like I'm missing something.
Yeah the whole movie's plot was basically to fix everything that X3 goofed on!

Actually it looks like someone already explained it to you so great!

This is the first time I've been interested/excited about COD since MW2. I played the bejesus out of COD, COD 2, COD 3, and MW, but lost interest shortly after that. I've always enjoyed WW2 as a setting (that sounds slightly odd), so I'm excited in a way I thought I never would be again in regards to this franchise.

Black Ops 1 had terrible weapon balance. So many pointless guns.

After Black Ops 1, it's incredible how Black Ops 2 made every single weapon in the game be unique and fun to use... then Black Ops 3 somehow went backwards with how many weapons I don't find interesting.

I hope they wow the shit out of us with a new engine and new tech! I hope we'll be blown away by the graphics and that they are totally photorealistic and that the sound design has been some kind of epic undertaking in immersion!

This inspired me to watch a 45 minute color documentary about D-Day this morning while lying in bed, lol. Got me hyped for this game.

I feel like your setting yourself up for like... massive, extreme disappointment when it doesn't meet all of that.

99.99% chance this uses the same engine as AW and MWR.

Yeah, I can't imagine that it''s running on anything other than the existing modified engine. Although many view AW as being the best looking of the current-gen CoD games, so they're starting on a solid foundation. But it's definitely going to look like a CoD game.

Eh, AW looked better than BO3 IMHO, but IW, at least the SP, looks far better than AW. On PS4 Pro IW looks phenomenal. It's still crazy how it reaches native 4K at times. Super good Pro version.

However I have no doubt Sledgehammer will knock it out of the park with the visuals this time. I can't wait to see it on the Pro. :)

BO2 is so much better than BO1 sorry.

If getting killed instantly its more up your alley, then that is totally fine.

We are different type online gamers.

Call of Duty 4 and Black Ops 1 was pure perfection for me simply for the ability to counter-attack a person shooting at you.

When Blops 2 hit, Treyarch went full casual approach with whoever sees who first, gets the kill. No skill required. Thats the norm now with Call of Duty.

That was what I intended to substract here.

I've been playing MWR and BO1 on BC and that isn't true. Like. At all.

You die instantly in both MWR and BO1. In fact the only recent game that actually let you fight back is ironically, Advanced Warfare. I've been playing it with my friend lately since it's the last CoD he has and in comparison to all the others, I felt like there were more chances to survive.

I think you're looking at BO1 and CoD4 with rose tinted glasses. They were just as bad if not worse when it comes to that.

You honestly can't tell me with a straight face Blops 1 and 2 had the same kill time.

We must have played very different versions then.

I died a heck of a lot more in Blops 2.

So MP won't be a jetpack jumping around shit fest? Nice.

No, now it's going to be tons of drop to your stomach shots while you camp for half the match.

And i love how they're promoting "boots on the ground multiplayer" as if this is some type of novelty. There's a ton of "boots on the ground" first person shooters already out there, more so than not.

.

Oh, sure. I mean, unless that person is using the extremely common M16A4 that kills in one burst across the map.

Time to kill has always been 3 shots. Hardly any meaningful difference in rate of fire either.
I don't also get this counter-attack argument. On console it takes like 0.25-.5 seconds to do full 180 degree turn. So how are you supposed to counter-attack that headstart on someone that shoots you? take a headshot? Cool now time to kill is zero since no one likes to take 3-5 shots to head to kill.

Ironically, Black Ops 1 weapons, on average, have faster TTK compared to Black Ops 2. The problem is that BO1 has garbage hit detection/netcode in comparison to other games that you wouldn't even know it.

I wish people would just say they preferred one game over the other instead of denigrating the game they don't like. BLOPS2 definitely had a skill curve and gap.

I prefer BLOPS1 over BLOPS2 largely inp art to the maps which I think were a lot better in BLOPS1; in fact that's the last CoD game where I really enjoyed the maps.

For fucks sake Activision.

For. Fucks. Sake.

It's not the setting that makes people stop playing COD ... it's the lack of innovation. We've had the same engine since BO2, the same specialist bullshit since BO3 and the same scorestreak loadout since MW2.

Again, not the setting ... but the lack of innovation or "new" stuff is slowly killing this franchise.

I hope Sledgehammer Games has something cool up their sleeve.

Its kinda funny because honestly back in the day it wasn't near as bad as it is in Remastered.
Everyone said for nearly 10 years how op it is to the point Remastered comes around and literally nobody uses anything else.

At least the G3, AK and RPD were very common back then.

It was for me.

Not for me. One of the main reasons why I stuck with CoD for a long time was because of the reliability that came from not using a new engine whenever possible. Sure it left the visuals a bit behind, but the series holds the title for being consistently smooth and having a reliable online infrastructure (aside from the launch week hiccups).

Personally not a fan of the WW setting(Modern Warfare is my favorite), but will most likely pick this one up to see what they got.

You know I just thought about this while jumping back on MWR.
What are they going to do about female characters/players in multiplayer?

Call of Duty made a big deal about it going back to Ghosts and it has remained since,
and it was definitely something they had over Battlefield which DICE just said was too much work essentially.

Even went so far as to add them in to COD4 with their faction specific voices and language.

There were women who fought in wwII, same as wwI. Some officially and some secretly.

Maybe I've just been lucky but I've been playing a lot of MW:R over the last few weeks and whilst there are some M16 deaths its nowhere near as bad for me as it was back in the day. People are using a whole variety of weapons from the P90, AK, M4 etc.

However the quickscoping cunts are out in force as per usual, that's still not changed :p

Nah, you can definitely get away at times in COD4 and BLOPS1 in a gunfight. Now if someone catches you offguard then yeah 99% you are being dropped unless they have fucking terrible aims, but I've definitely had some close calls and got away. However I have been playing this alongside Infinite Warfare which is basically instant kill so the difference is noticeable straight away of course. Not played BLOPS2 in ages so I wouldn't speak in confidence with that one but I remember it's TTK being shorter. One of my favourite things in Advanced Warfare was being able to boost to the side to get away, so much fun :p

It's almost as if they're promoting something that the fan base wanted to return to. The nerve!
