Persona 5 Social-Link/Confidant discussion |OT| Laughing Banana is Makoto's husbando

Hmm.. the more I think about it - Makoto can still be your favorite character overall even if you believe that Haru is the better romance option. Haru's story just works better and provides a happier future for the protagonist than Makoto's. (Works both ways honestly)

Hmm...

I feel like Haru's, and Hifumi as well for that matter, Co-Op played out like some type of Shoujo romance.

Ryuji was probably the most fool hardy and reckless team member, especially mouthing we're the phantom thieves when ever he got the chance. #teammorgana
Morgana :"Ryuji you're a fucking idiot for exposing our identity!!!"

*Meanwhile MC rank 10 confidants all know he is a phantom thief*

That is some double standards right there.

Trying to max up my other Confidants - I have 10 days left before the next countdown, and I can't find Ryuji at all, it's like he's just stopped wanting to hang out.

Is this a thing that's meant to happen?

I have him at Rank 7 and he's nowhere to be found to rank up.

Sorry I can't stop complaining about Ann/Ryuji but I can't help being bothered about it in so many ways.

I have that theory that MC doesn't exist and that he's actually Ryuji, just like in Fight Club. When they go celebrate at the buffet after their victory over Kamoshida, MC feels like the biggest third wheel in the history of mankind it hurts. He could've not been there it wouldn't make a difference.

I just watched the scene where you friend zone Haru.

Why would Atlus make it so heartbreaking? I was thinking of jumping ship to Makoto, but now...

I've only just met Ohya and Mifune, but so far all I know is that I'm not going with Makoto. She irritates me. Now between Ann and Kawakami.

The correct answer here is Ann.

I saw this scene on YouTube, it's pretty damn savage. Actually, it's the only one out of all of them I've seen thus far that I'd consider savage. I haven't seen Ann's because I chose her on my NG and my NG+ run.

Ulterior motives. She obviously wanted to become part of the Coffee Family along with Sojiro, Futaba and MC so she could use that information to ruin Sojiro's business with her line of cafe's she was planning to open. When MC shut down such villainous intent, she couldn't cope with the failure.

Honestly Haru might be the true final boss of the game.

I keep hearing Ann is heartbreaking too but I just don't understand, she took it in strides if you reject her, unlike Haru. Moreover I really feel like the MC's declaration of love towards Ann on her Confidant is so abrupt.

Well, that's just me tho.

For me it was mostly that she was all "I'm alone again" while basically cradling herself, and your best response is "well like you've got idk the other people I guess." But I agree, after watching how the romance version works, yikes.

the beginning of the romance is awkward, but Ann is super sweet in all of her romance scenes because even though everybody wants to essentially bang her and you'd think she'd be super experienced with dating and boys, just like most other (if not all of the) younger girls you are her first romance so she very much is still awkward and adorable when the MC is with her in a date.

This makes it so much worst that the game has these issues of acknowledging romances in non-romance scenes. Confident/playfull Ann you see in every scene all of you are hanging out in public is the complete opposite of the scenes you get of just with her while she's dating the MC.

Her social link as a whole isn't all that great, but neither are the majority of the others. I don't know why they opted to make so many of them so boring and random. I don't mind so much of the effort being put into like papa coffee and geek sister, but come on man. Put a bit more effort on the other girls. Even Haru has a good confidant.

Yup, it's great. The Ann romance is super sweet, I love it.

I never really considered romancing Ann so her friend scene didn't really seem that harsh to me. I'm still not going to go for her in NG+ just because I think there are 4-5 better options, and after 4 I'm not about that 2-timing life.

Yeah.

Makoto is like "whatever" whether you chose to date her or not, which is fitting for the WHATEVER quality of her Confidant storyline. Futaba is cute, tho I don't know, I haven't seen her romance path but some people do find it ehhhhhhhh due to her situation.

See, the safest and most correct answer is Haru all along :p

The jarring disconnect of Confidant scenes and main story is much more pronounced with Ann, especially with how she acts on numerous occasions such as during the Hawaii trip. Any other girl you can kinda head-cannon it and not make it clash with the main story, but not her. Personally that is my biggest reason of not choosing her ever because I am the type of player who don't like (too large) of a disconnect that can be really immersion-breaking in my RPGs.

I don't understand Haru haters. Haru is super adorable. Yes, she got shafted story-wise but as a character she's a nice girl.

I literally said "D'awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww goddamn girl" when she asked about how everyone's doing
after her father got murdered on live television
. Goddamn that was something else.

Yeah, I chose Kawakami as the partner on my first playthrough and all the other girls seemed to take rejection in stride except Haru. I'm currently working through my first NG+ run and I'm trying to decide between Makoters and Hifumers but I'm definitely not looking forward to rejecting Haru again. D:

The only option for NG+ is to run the Narukami route and be a man-whore.

I just wanna finish this 5th Palace so I can romance Makoto! Every time I see her next to the MC it just looks so right. Haru tho. So fucking sweet. I wish I could touch her fluffy hair.

... and seeing that synopsis makes it all worth it.

You chose wisely.

It's crazy the swings I (and this thread, I guess, lol) made going from Makoto as the indisputably the best girl to praising all the things Haru, hahaha.

Best girl!

Figured I'd post this in this thread but I think I'm going to make Haru my girl. It was going to be Hifumi based mostly on character design alone and didn't think I would like Haru as much as I did. But seriously this girl is the sweetest, and she's tough especially with
her dad going into mental shutdown (killed? Still not there yet just finished 5th palace). But the way she just toughened up and was worried about the company employees, funeral arrangements, etc...feelsbad man...

Haru's
saddled with the worst ultimate persona in the game, her father's dead, and she drinks coffee made from shit.
She deserves all the sympathy.

Her Confidant is quite great too. And quite fast to level up I'd say.

No point in hanging out with a girl you already maxed and romanced, right? I think I already gave every possible gift Ann may like, and seen every scenes they have after you romance her lol.

hey Ryuji can you please stop staring at my gf smh

Do it - Makoto is still probably my one of my favorite characters in the game, but none of the romances work as well with the MC & his living situation as Haru's.

Makoto may have more main story moments, but you'll get hooked on Haru's sweetness.

I saw this scene on YouTube, it's pretty damn savage. Actually, it's the only one out of all of them I've seen thus far that I'd consider savage. I haven't seen Ann's because I chose her on my NG and my NG+ run.

Haru's is the worst - Ann's is more a case of mis-localization of the platonic option. (Should have been "You have all of us" rather than "You have the others") Ann takes it well, in the end.

Honestly Haru might be the true final boss of the game.

True final boss of my heart, more like it.

I don't understand Haru haters. Haru is super adorable. Yes, she got shafted story-wise but as a character she's a nice girl.

Yeah, she's super nice, and has a dream that the MC can support her in. I can only hope that in the handheld version she has more time to shine in the main story too.

she comes in way too late into the game and main party, and whenever there were scenes of her during her introduction scene all I could think about was this

See above.

I'm currently working through my first NG+ run and I'm trying to decide between Makoters and Hifumers but I'm definitely not looking forward to rejecting Haru again. D:

I can understand going for Makoto, but Hifumi's romance is sudden, abrupt, and kinda dumb. It's so short that I came away kinda offended when I tried it for shits & giggles.

Haru tho. So fucking sweet. I wish I could touch her fluffy hair.

Do it.. do it.. do it...

Don't do this to me. Don't. Please don't T_T Haru..........

She was just too sweet to ignore.

She gets better in her social link - she's probably the best rounded female party member, just a shame she joins so late.

Beat the game last week at 125+ hours (lots of reload-saving, so add 10+ hours to this if you want lol), lvl 99, all confidants maxed out, all social links maxed out, 90% compendium complete, max money, 85% trophy completion.

Major gripes: End-game DRAGGED on for way too long. Late-game dungeons were a total slog and uninspired and boring. This game is definitely is too long to its own detriment sadly. It's very poorly paced especially end-game. Overall, 9/10 lol.

Music: God-like. Best soundtrack for a game, aside from Bloodborne

Gameplay: Won't go into details, have a lot of gripes with the combat that only become apparent near end-game.

Characters: All great aside from Haru. No offense to her as a character, but all offense goes to Atlus because she gets the least amount of character development + usage. Ryuji can get a bit annoying and so can Ann.

Best waifu: Makoto (The real answer are the Niijima sisters!)

Ok I'm on my way to find a new girl on new game plus. Have hifumi and Ann for design and haru and maid for personality. I selected makoto previously hence she sits this one out.
