Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite - Gameplay Trailer 2 (Ultron, Chun-Li, Hulk, Chris and +)

Damn, again I'm being misread.

I'm all about these games catering to casuals - even though I don't believe the method of simplifying the gameplay works. Do it. Fine. Whatever. Ultimately, it won't make the difference developers always seem to hope it will.

All I'm point out is that FGs are in a precarious position atm it seems, and need to sell in order to perpetuate. You made it seem like the sales of the game don't matter in that quote.

Nope, sales matter. Of course they do.

I was simply saying that if this doesn't sell, for whatever reason, then the game we have won't lack depth because of trying to reach a more casual audience.

What did they do to Chris?

The game overall looks bland for some reason sadly... I hope later on trailers are better than this
Man this is almost ps2 level graphics. Worse than kofxiv. Tremendous downgrade from mvc3 graphics wise imo.

Autocombos shouldn't do as much as standard combos, hopefully that is just for the demo build.

Naw autocombos should, however autocombos shouldn't be optimal combos. And it sounds like they aren't, unless optimal combos are short as fuck in this game.

A more casual friendly fighting system is music to my ears.

There are more than enough traditional fighting games on the market to appeal to the hardcore and not anywhere near enough fighting games made for us filthy casuals.

I feel like the natural evolution is to spin off MvC into a Marvel only, casual friendly, fighting game. I bet it would sell well.

But does it cost meter to do an auto combo, maybe half a meter or something? Seems odd to get it for free. Or maybe it's just that those auto-combos over time will likely end up being sub optimal, so that'll end up being the difference between the auto/manual?
That's what happened to SxT, the magic series and auto tag in that game quickly became subpar.

Really? It looks like his face is wrong somehow, I went to watch a trailer of the remastered version of MvC3 and it looks way better for some reason, maybe because of the differences on lightning and shadows.

I mean the body etc. Maybe they're redoing the face to match the new artstyle.

Not to rain on the parade too much, but while you will be able to pull off some fun flashy stuff with friends using the more "casual" mechanics like simplifies controls and auto combos, using those would still get you crushed online against people using the full system.

Did... Did I just saw Hulk tagging in DURING Chun-Li's hyper?

Mid-season tech is going to be absolute bullshit

This kind of thing existed in UMVC3 to a limited degree. DHC from a character with a persisting projectile hyper to one with an install hyper. Storm's Hail Storm into Wolverine's Berserker Charge. It's not really that much different from mixing up someone who's locked down with an assist. Some characters won't be able to take as much advantage of it as a character like Wolverine who has a four-way mixup.

I know that's what you were saying. I was just adding a snarky appendage to that. I know you don't really think the sales don't matter I just wanted to make that explicit.

There's more. MvCI has a universal combo string designed to offer newcomers an easy entry into the world of manual input commands. Pressing light punch, light kick, heavy kick and then down heavy punch does a ground combo that launches your opponent into the air.

Reminds me a lot of Rival schools' Combo system which also had a semi universal combo like this that would only change whenever the launcher was HK o HP depending the character. I can live with this.

They wouldn't even know what the optimal combos are. Fighting games take time to evolve.

I'm expecting the character count to be in line with Street Fighter X Tekken since MVCI seems to have a lot in common with it (2v2 fighting, reuse of assets from a previous title, lots of characters to draw on from two brands), which had one of the largest rosters of any Capcom game. It launched with 40+ characters and DLC for 12 more characters.

That's a good point and Capcom had to create at least half of SFxT's cast from scratch. I think there's only 4 newcomers out of 14 so far for MvCI.

I think that's the case for most of the English VO in SFV. Only Cammy is any good.
Urien, Alex, Balrog, Ken, Birdie, Karin, Kolin, Ed, Zangief, Dhalsim, Rainbow Mika, Juri, Guile, Rashid, Vega, Nash, & F.A.N.G all say hi.

19. You can break out of a combo by holding down the tag button, but it costs two meters to do so.
Seems like a questionable decision to me. Having to choose between saving for burst or Infinity Storm by tying it to the Infinity Stone gauge seems like it would've been more practical than burning meter for it (comparable to having to choose between burst or Overdrive in BBCP and BBCF).

PR woman: You’re always asking me for more Dino Crisis!

ME: Dinosaurs are cool!

GC: Okay, so Dino Crisis is definitely in it?

ME: [laughs – followed by elongated conversation on how to pronounce Regina, ending in no consensus]

Wow, these Iron Man buffs sound great!

I've always loved using him but I often felt like conflicted on what style of play I should prioritize with him, seemed like a mish-mash of different tools to just create a character.

Now that he's gonna be prioritized as a true keepaway character has me real interested in him. If Dormammu turns out to be a no-show then I might just use either him or Captain Marvel as my companion for She-Hulk.

GC: When this was first announced some fans theorised that the Marvel characters would only include those that Marvel has the cinematic rights to. That is the case so far, but is that going to be true for the whole game?

ME: No…

GC: It’s nothing to be ashamed of, if it’s all down to the lawyers.

ME: Totally, totally. No, but it’s not. And if Marvel were here they would answer as I’m going to. It’s not based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We take a lot of inspiration from the cinematic universe, but the game is a completely original universe.

GC: So you could have the Fantastic Four or X-Men in the game, if you wanted them?

ME: I can’t say about that one.

GC: You can’t say if you could?

ME: I… can’t answer that question.

GC: You can’t say if you could say if you could?

ME: Exactly! [laughs]

GC: [conspiratorially] You can have Doctor Doom though, surely?

ME: Oh, ah… I would say stay excited. We have many announcements coming. But you’re not the first to ask that one!

Made me laugh a little bit. I respect the bait though.
