Nope I started that one pretty late so it's still at 4. Damn I didn't think that ability that helps with Confidants unlocked so late.

You should have like... 40-50 days available? Not counting story stuff.

Level up the Fortune arcana and keep your own pace. You should have plenty of time left.

P6 definitely needs to completely overhaul the romance system because honestly the romance in P5 is overwhelmingly trash. For such a big selling point (don't pretend it isn't) it's baffling how bad it is.

- Outside of a few exceptions where the girls display interest beforehand (Chihaya, Futaba, I guess Haru) the romance "confirmation" is always awkward where the girl suddenly admits that she totally likes/love you.

- The romance branching path is barely anything, basically being identical to a regular rank 10 except now with some extra dialogue about how much they love you or whatever.

- The "dates" are like a minute long and basically consist of all the girls telling you how much they love you/are nervous about being alone with you. It's the worst kind of waifu bait.

- As everyone says, the lack of any story interactions being affected by dating a character is really annoying. Maybe they could make acquiring a harem a challenge and set up "flags" that you need to work around by dating certain girls at certain times.

- They need to set the romance flags earlier, at like rank 5 or something. To prevent "locking in" if there's someone you like more later they could actually let you break up with girls.

I think my favorite romance in the game (despite the ethical issues obviously lol) is Kawakami purely because it's the only one that isn't just "oh you like me? I like you too!" and actually feels like it requires some work to confirm even if I don't think it's possible to fail the romance at rank 10.

The harem scene is the only good part of romance in this game tbh, it's absolutely hilarious.

I agree with all of this

What I find funny is that there is ONE scene in the game that has a flag if you're dating someone.

December spoilers

during the study session if you're dating of the party members and say you plan to get married all your gfs get flustered

But that's it

Well besides for the bad end harem scene :p

I declare you my best friend. Holy fucking shit I want this so bad for P6 or even P5 expansion if they can manage it.

Romance really needs to be its own bar or something. Mixing it into the S link doesn't always have a good payoff or makes things awkward since it feels like the girls reward you with their love for helping them instead of establishing the relationship based on mutual attraction and respect.

Like you see it in the rejections too with the MC being fucking cold as ice in saying "It was for the meds", "I only wanted the good reports", "Everyone else will help you" and so on so forth.

Romance really was my biggest disappointment with P5 since I loved everything else completely.

2000% this. Hit it out of the park on each & every point.

Though I'm more excited to see how the Persona team handles Re Fantasy, an entirely new fantasy game, rather than P6 just yet.

It's not even just the romances. It's so odd seeing Mishima texting me about the Phantom Thieves as if he doesn't already know he's speaking to one. They could've easily changed up the dialogue for that.

To be fair I think that might be a flaw of the localization.

Also I asked in the official ot but nobody responded

About xmas

That's some goddamn Truth right there. If i had a time machine i would go back and tell them to give hifumi her rightfull place , even if it meant the game pushed back by 6+months . it would have been worth it.
If they cut some of the unnecessary long dungeons in a few places we would still get the same length game just with a better story.

If anything, that's something that they can hopefully fix in the remaster - several characters are underdeveloped and underutilized in the main story, and several more have lackluster social links.

Balancing it out more would do wonders, IMO. Maybe they could do something like P4G's extra months & dungeon?

The things that flesh out Makoto's character is the sort of thing I didn't like in Persona 5 funny enough haha. I mean coming off of Persona 4 Golden, where you rarely ever see events that your character himself is not directly about to view, we're treated to scenes with Ann, Makoto, Haru etc that show some character development/motivation which could have been in their S link instead (Oh yeah the villains are the worst with exposition exposition exposition!)

I think more needs to be added definitely, maybe the early nights Morgana just forces you to go to bed can be dropped, I'm sure that frees up a lot of time during the game.

Can't disagree, the social link system needs an upgrade, imagine dating Tae early on in the game and not seeing her for the next few months :p

Also felt weird I'm besties with a lot of people like the politician and the Ohya but I never see them again

Yeah I agree it isn't just the romances. In general they really need to make social links tie into the main game more. It's just so fucking jarring that they don't.

As for romances, it's bizarre to me that they feel so tacked on. When you look at the confidant list, nine out of seventeen confidants(that aren't tied to story) are potential romances, that's basically the majority of them. Yet, despite such a large focus on making romance-able confidants, they didn't really focus that much on the romance part? I don't get it.
(Oh yeah the villains are the worst with exposition exposition exposition!)
I burst out laughing every single time I saw the (11/23ish spoilers)
SIU Director doing one of his evil phone calls on my second playthrough. He didn't even get a name and dies off screen, yet you see him so bloody much with his "Look at how amazing our evil plans are" scenes.

Between
hitting her friend
, bossing everyone around, her short temper, and telling you you're not attractive enough to pretend to be her boyfriend?

Yeah, she's, uh, not that nice. I do like her design though.

Not that nice, but OH SO SWEET.
#teamslap 4eva

Also, I mean, come on, she doesn't literally mean "you're an uggo."

Anyways: NG+ finally hit Hawaii, still don't get how the Hawaii date works. I'm starting to think maybe your answer matters in TWO questions, not just one:
the one with Ann and Ryuji hanging in your room is obvious, but I wonder if Ryuji's question on the beach also matters, because both times I answered "not interested" and I don't get nearly the array of options other people seem to get.
Though I just realized that another possibility is that all the other people I could've gone on a date with, I've already shot down as romantic interests. Too bad, it'd still be nice to hang out as friends, but whatever.

This time around, I only managed to get two options. But hey, could be worse. (spoiler image) This was actually a really sweet date.

Suck it, Ryuji and Mishima. I won.

Where are your social links at and are you on the romance path?

I'm still pretty sure Hawaii is based on social link rank/relationship, to be honest.

Not sure if I'd put any P5 girl above Rise or Mitsuru just yet, but then again I'm not finished just yet either.

I'm gonna have to think on this... Hmm.

Honestly, she reminds me of the type of girls I was super attracted to in high school by-the-bye: The older honor student tsundere 😂.

Comparing/Contrasting my record main romances, I'd choose Futaba over Chie, but I don't know about Aigis. She appeals to me in a different light. I'd have to think on that one.

Ann: 10/friendship
Makoto: 10/friendship
Kawakami: 10/friendship
Hifumi: 8

I think those are all the options, right? Last playthrough I dated Makoto, but maybe I had her at too low a rank by the time we got to Hawaii.

Also the
principal who they build up as well as being some kind of antagonist and he's killed rather abruptly

the SIU director really irritated me because in Japanese I only understood half his dialogue and thought he was totally a dude being forced into a bad situation by his higher ups (I guess I mistook him for Sae)

come eng version and he's pretty much evil villain #3 and
then gets offed in five seconds without anything really going on there

It's pretty clear from his facial animations imo.

Yeah, indeed.

That said I felt the
principal
was at least slightly better since -

A) You actually got a name!
B) He at least tried to redeem himself by going to the police station. Sadly he got offed minutes before he got there...

With Ann and Kawakami you need to be in a romance else you won't get the option. You should have gotten Hifumi as a choice though, I had her around that level and got her as a choice.

Makoto you should have as a choice too considering I had her at rank 5 on my first playthrough and got the text. That said there's a possibility that choosing friendship will lock her out. Bit shit if so.

The social link system definitely needs an overhaul. I think the rigid 10 level structure is...well, way too rigid. Some characters could use more levels and others could use less. I think a lot of the problems stem from trying to cram different stories into a uniform structure. Ann could definitely use more breathing room. Ohya, on the other hand, could use less.

I think it would be better if links were much faster to level up, but you have to maintain them in order to prevent them from going down. This gets rid of the issue of completely ignoring maxed social links for the rest of the game and gives players incentives to retain their battle perks.

But for those willing to put in the effort, you can "lock" a social link at max level if you invest enough time into them, but you could only feasibly lock a few links through a single playthrough.

I think the Confidant system feels lacking in P5 only because other aspects of the game have leaped forward. It's time for a change.

Is that.. Ann and Makoto kissing?

People prolly think that because Ann and Makoto have nice friend moments from time to time. Lol

It only takes a small moment to trigger fanart and shipping.

the thing about the internet is that if two males or two females talk to each other in something cartoon-y and they don't immediately talk about someone else and/or seem uncomfortable then of course they are D T F DOWN TO RICKITY RICKITY FUCK GO TUMBLR GO DEVIANTART CLEARLY THEY ARE ATTRACTED TO EACH OTHER.

True... but sometimes there is BAIT. Where there is very clearly BAIT and it's almost as if it's a big sign that says, "You guys see this? Make some sexy stuff outta this!"

I got that bait feeling when Becky was laying down on Joker's bed and I thinking... "Lol this is bait." Somebody is gonna see this scene and do something about it.

At some point I want to match up the party characters by arcana (or if that doesn't work role in the team) and see which character is my favorite across P3-5.

For instance:
Lovers: Yukari, Rise [x], Ann

Top Bottom
