TumbleSeed |OT| A Friend in Need is a Seed Indeed

I just wish, maybe in a patch, the paddle would move slightly faster. I may be nuts, actually I am nuts, lol, but, anyone else think the left thumbstick moves the paddle faster than the right? May have to play with deadzones, but thats how it feels right now.

Nah, we're not (at least for this!). The icon changed, you can see the original if you delete the game and go to redownload in the eShop. The game got a patch. It was 1.00 when it launched, now it's 1.01n.

Ok so the bouncing spiders can fuck off. Just had one right at the start, and had two appear at the start of the second section during the daily challenge (btw assuming the daily challenge is identical for everyone?)

I wouldn't mind if you could out run them, but they follow you even if you Hearn up as fast as you can. And the way they land seems to make it difficult to hit them (had three thorns and still got splatted)

I love this game. I know Dark Souls comparisons are over used, but in this case totally warranted.

So if a game is hard then it's like Dark Souls, I hate to be one of those people who are nit picky over classifying games but this comment just seems weird.

I wouldn't make that comparison myself, but maybe in terms of how you should approach the game? Both games are incredibly more difficult if you just rush in quickly, but are not games where you really need to be fast.
They reward being slow and methodical, both games require a similar mindset when you are starting out.

Also this is awesome on the GPD WIN, except it doesn't recognize the controller in XInput mode unless Steam Controller Xbox support is enabled. Though with the regular KB/M binds on the GPD pad, you can play with the D-pad and ABXY.

If anything that's a good thing. It's a sign of how much Dark Souls has permeated the medium. It's akin to Lovecraftian or Orwellian for literature and other mediums; when you think difficult and challenging but fair, you think Dark Souls

"Nintendo hard" for the current era

Man, if this isn't the coolest thing I've played all year.
Made it through the first area after like ten tries and then died at
a skill game where you had to collect crystals within a time limit.
Not doing that one again until I get way better at controlling my dude, which I slowly am.
It's really addictive. The sound and art style are great, this really is a special game.

Edit: Does anyone know if there is a way to tell how much fall damage you are going to take or do you kind of have to guess how long ago you placed the last checkpoint?

I'm still wondering if I'll spend 15 euros for this game. I can get quickly irritated by that kind of game and just drop it after one hour, but at the same time I want to try the challenge and the great combo of HD rumble-art style-beautiful OST. Damn. Wish there was a trial.

The Flytrap seed is my favorite so far.

Those damn jumping spiders and worms die in one hit with that seed.

My best so far is 357. I didn't think I would be this addicted.

Cant say it enough: such an awesome game!

Well this game is hard as balls.

Do you have to restart after you die? I just got to a new area with a checkpoint and died to a worm and it brought me back all the way. If that's the case I'm not wasting my time with this.

Well that's some major bullshit.

I assume the game is short to complete then? Guess I wasted $15 because I can tell I'd end up breaking shit getting far then dieing and having to restart everything. That's not fun at all.

This is much more difficult and confusing to play than I expected. I'm going to save it for when I'm more awake.

Regarding HD rumble, it feels like there's a rumble dead spot in the centre of the pro controller. Anyone else notice this?

Don't play game this with the pro controller if you want to feel the HD Rumble awesomeness.

Tumbleseed is a strange game, in a good way. Out of any logic of scheme, it amazes at each small steps done right, stamping a stupid grin our your face, due to its minimalist artistic graphic accompanied by its fresh and original gameplay. Mind your steps! THe game requires all your focus!

I am so frustratingly bad at this. I routinely die seconds into a run. I really want to like this but I just can't wrap my head around the controls :(

Like when the seed is in the middle, or when the rumble transfers from left to right or vice versa.

I only play in portable mode and I just notice the rumble is stronger when the seed moves quickly to one of the sides, which makes sense.

Man I did not know that when u die you start all the way back at the bottom of the mountain. I don't know if I have it in me..

The game compensates for the fact that there is no rumble in the middle, which could be weird when you're holding a pro controller only.

I am easily getting to the second level of the mountain now. I feel like I can safely say I'm pretty good at the game now. I'm absolutely loving it. My only gripe so far is that it feels like a lot of the passive abilities are more harmful than useful. Like the bouncing buddy can hurt you and the dropping mines every 7 seconds is super dangerous too. I usually skip em at this point unless it will only clearly benefit me.

This is pretty much exactly what I came to post, minus the 'I'm pretty good' part. I can now pretty consistently get through the first area, but everything after that is still tough. Made it to the third area once, but there are just so many different enemies from the second area onward.

The bouncing buddy, claymore, and mine seed are some of my favorites so far, but the friendly fire aspect means you always have to be focused on yet another hazard. My biggest struggle is staying away from those damn worms, but a line of well placed mines can do a number on them.

I feel like it's gonna take me a while to get to the fourth zone, but I'm having fun with the challenges as I slowly progress.

Oh rad! Hey I'm one of the devs and the passives are definitely hit or miss depending on your strategy. Like you could take vampire + RandoBud and have some really nice success since Rando is free you don't need to worry too much about your economy at that point. Some of that stuff is higher level too, there are a few ceilings in the game to break through and one of the later ones is being able to not look at your seed 100% of the time and be aware of your periphery more often than not (good for Bounce Friend, Ghost Friend and just... for enemies in general really).

Also! We're gonna try to stream some high level play most nights up until the contest this coming tuesday so maybe that'll be a way to check out some new strats or whatever might be helpful.

How consistently I get past the second area is all dependent on the items I get beforehand. I absolutely love the bomb seed during level 2 as it can be a huge life saver against the worms and the bouncing spiders. I've gotten to the fourth area only once but damn was it satisfying.

The vampire is definitely one of my favorite passives so far! And I definitely feel like I am focusing less on my seed as I'm getting better at the game, but I guess I just haven't gotten used to worrying about something like the bounce friend and the enemies at the same time yet.

Fantastic job on the game! Such a cool idea!

The few times I've tried to use the bomb seed I usually ended up harming myself more than the enemies. Those bouncing spiders are second on the asshole enemy hierarchy, but it is fun to coax them into landing on a mine.

Possible bug? My current quest is to pick up an aura (other than the teleport one), but I've done so at the town before the 2nd level and nothing happens.

And man, I don't know if I'm ever going to be able to make it past the second level. Those goddamn snakes are relentless killing machines.

Yea I'm going to keep playing it's hard but addicting. I really wish the switch would have a trophy system. Especially for games like this

Took me a while to get into the game, but now I really like it.

Only thing I find a bit confusing is when I suddenly die. It's not super clear how many hearts you lose. Seems a bit inconsistence.

Goddamit yes, got 5 hearts.

Also previous post, it's pretty clear how many hearts you lose. It's one per knockdown on tree, forces you to plant your flags, so you don't forget about those. The higher up the tree you are the more damage you're going to take until you hit your flag. Behooves you to plant a flag every few patches.

So has anyone downloaded this game and have any impressions? Especially for switch with Hd rumble. I'm definitely looking to get this game but I can't find any reviews anywhere.

Haven't played too much, but the HD rumble is ridiculously well done. You can really tune into it and play by feel, at least in handheld mode. I can't really give impressions because I'm still coming to grips with what it is - for whatever rrason I was expecting a Vlambeer type game, amd this is more Marble Madness meets Loco Roco.

I thought the Switch version would use motion controls for the tilting, but it's analog sticks only? Is that better suited for the game, or would motion controls end up making it easy?

Much like Binding of Isaac there are moments where I really dislike this game but a few minutes later, I'm totally in love with it. What an odd and fascinating game.

Nope, it'd make the game disgustingly hard if not flat out unplayable.

Still having trouble with getting past the 2nd area, but I'm still enjoying it. It's a good challenge and I like that >:)

Yeah. I just got to the second area for the first time on my GPD earlier today and immediately there is a snake chasing me at INCREDIBLE hihg speed.

Things sure do escalate quickly after the 1st area.

I don't last long once there are more holes combined with some snake thing chasing after me.

Best is 238 so far.

I was so close :(

What do you set the dead zone too if anything at all. I feel, and I've calibrated the thumbsticks, but I feel the seed always drifts to the left side of the screen, even if pressing both thumbsticks up at the same time, without fail seed starts rolling left.
