IGN Stellar Blade Drama Part III - Korean fashion magazine Maxim responds: "Eve's body type is indeed realistic and exists in reality."

It’s literally in the Eastern Hemisphere…stop it. Also, you read my comment all wrong. I was saying the person I was responding to was saying “the rest of the world separate from Asia”. If you are going to quote me, read and quote the other person I responded to as well…Again, like I said in my last post, I’m leaving it at that because I’m not trying to derail the thread. We can agree to disagree.

Telling people to "stop" when you cant be bothered to even think about the point the other post is making isn't a good look.
Europe (including France) has been considered part of the western world for decades now.
You being contrarian for the sole purpose of being contrarian isn't going to change that.

Again, not trying to derail. I discussed it with an earlier poster, and also made myself clear that I wasn’t going to discuss it further because I’m not trying to derail the topic. That’s why I’m not thinking about the other post. Plus, that person 100% skewed my quote and made it completely opposite of what I actually said. That’s a bad look. It’s also a bad look to keep pushing when I said I wasn’t going to keep talking about it. Seems rather contrarian.

I don't understand this obsession with wanting to fuck your video game characters. But it's why I avoid Sonic fandom like the plague.
I want my fucking woman game character to be FUCKING HOT, if I want reality I would not playing games....I will just walk down the street.
God bless Koreans & Chinese developers because westerns don't know what are they doing. No wonder game sales are crap. Wonder how much copy's will Fable sale.
At least it can get GOTY for ugliest main character...... :messenger_tears_of_joy:

It's very realistic and achievable, they're just too lazy to get off their fat asses to get that body type, that's why they started the whole fat pride campaign or that they don't have to satisfy the male gaze.

The lengths fat/out-of-shape people go to to try and draw attention away from them. My god.

What's more difficult:

- Trying to change everybody else's opinion
- Working out and dieting

I swear these assholes put in more effort in the former, than it would take to do the latter.

But yeah, gotta try and subvert everybody and tell them it's bad to be in good shape/attractive.

This reminds me of some Planet Fitness level BS, where fit people can't insult fatties, but fatties can insult fit people.

The same that complain about her body, like the IGN guy, probably jerk off on onlyfans or watch some weird anime porn daily..
Why everyone assumes he is being hypocritical? Maybe he's married with someone who is double his weight and he just defends that.

Well for starters he's writing for an outlet that literally sells anime dolls showing their "unrealistic" ass, tits and panties.
Real thorough research as usual from the hard-hitting gaming "Journalism" outlets.

Secondly, let's take your hypothetical at face value - you'd think he would instead write about the rise of the brainwashed simps , the mentally ill and their bizarre quasi-puritan crusade against fictional games they don't even need to consume in the first place. Just like being overweight, you can't lose the pounds by trying to force everyone else around you to eat more.

It’s not real so there is no reason to defend any real person because of a game.

Imagine if people brought in real life aspects the same way regarding violence. The whole AAA segment of the hobby would crumble and we would just be able to play Tetris and racing games.

Let games be games. Enjoying a nice jiggling game booty is in no way worse than enjoying a gory kill animation. Ask your grandma or anyone else who isn’t already desensitized on movie and game violence and they’ll 100% be more upset over the gore.

Anyone thinking Eve’s body is not realistic needs to step foot in the gym and look around. Actually, thats probably the problem- most of these people couldn’t fathom the idea of eating healthy and working out for body goals.

Take a look at old school pictures- these body types were basically standard. I don’t understand why we champion a lazy lifestyle with eating habits that directly drive diabetes and heart disease.

To be fair to the IGN France guy, he's surrounded by fat ugly westerners at Mcdonalds eating Royales with Cheese. Also, he works in gaming, so half his female coworkers will have face piercings, weird hair and major attitude. When youre surrounded by fuglies, it gets to a point you dont believe there's good looking women anymore.

This game gets so much free promotion that the creators are probably ordering rounds of beer at this point.

The director already bought his entire staff a PS5 so they could play Stellar Blade. Might as well go all out and order a round of beer for them at the pub too 😀

I was just about to post that nobody talks about music, the story or anything else about the game. 2B from Nier was a great character and there was so much more about the game people would talk about. Same with Bayonette. I’d be careful about what you post because one comment of mine was deleted for “projecting”. I guess the game really is about nothing more but the characters backside and not the backstory.
game's not out yet afaik my dude. What story is there to discuss at this point?
I haven't played the demo yet (it's downloaded waiting for a few minutes of available time), but from what I've heard the combat is pretty dope.

Let’s be honest here, the only people who are posting this kind of content are those who are upset that the character doesn’t represent them.

TV ads, music videos, movies, EVERY media uses good looking people. Why? Because we are mostly a visual species.

Just because I don’t look like Brad Pitt I don’t think they should not be hot men in media?

Also it’s a video game! I don’t feel threatened that Mario represents Italians as little fat plumbers.

It’s time we just ignore these people. Stop promoting their stories and content.

Exactly.

Dieting and exercising/working out requires discipline, and people lack discipline.

I understand lacking discipline to an extent ... but looking just at people's diet, a lot of people go hard as a motherfucker consuming garbage like there's no tomorrow.

Not saying you can't enjoy alcohol, coffee, candy, fast food, etc., BUT it absolutely needs to be in moderation, and not on a daily basis.

The reason why you get a lot of uproar in gaming compared to other media who do the same comes down to three things. Take your pick:

1. They know what they are doing and do baity articles desperate for views and clicks.

2. They are mental. Gaming has a lot of weird manchildren whether it's employees making games or writers/social media whores talking about games. Let's face it, you arent going to get a similar amount of weird people working at banks or oil companies or big companies like Coke and Pepsi even though those companies have exponentially more people working there.

3. The most likely answer. Both 1 & 2

I have seen almost zero discussion about this game that doesn't revolve around how fuckable the main character and/or defending how fuckable the main character is.
It's a meta reaction and a backlash to woke culture. If such a thing weren't so frowned upon in today's climate, it wouldn't be such a big deal to see a genetically gifted woman represented in a game.

Excuse me, maybe I am stupid, but wasn't Eve born and raised on a different planet than Earth? Do we really know how human bodies would evolve in other environments?
Based on the demo, they have “body frame“ and when you see Tachy get her hand cut off you see metallic frame rather human bone underneath….i don’t know Eve and Tachy are androids like Yorha in Nier but I’m pretty sure their bodies are not human.

Can't wait the full game to find out. Hope the story is gonna be on par with Niers.

The contingent of "yeah, but plastic surgery" comments here make me sad. It illustrates just how commonplace and normalized unhealthy, overweight, body types have become that when anyone deviates from it, it's automatically assumed that there is body manipulation involved.

Is plastic surgery the case here? Possibly.
Is it possible to be fit and fine without plastic surgery? Of course it is.

I dunno, man, I don't think anyone is intentionally trying to make women less hot in games, it just isn't as much of a focus as realism and getting a good match for the actor to convey performances better.

A game like this, they probably don't give a shit about acting or story so whatever, make her hot, right? It's clearly working as the game's main selling point, but I don't think it's the rebellion against the woke warriors that you think it is.

You can have good story while still have attractive character design, like Nier Automata and 13 Sentinels.

That wasn't what I said, though, was it? Nier Automata had a good story but it certainly did not have good performance capture or life-like cutscenes in the way that Western AAA games do.

Most Japanese games (and I know Stellar Blade is Korean but we don't get a lot of those) don't do that much facial performances capture, and have a lot ofc stuff scenes of dead-faced dolls loosely lip-synced prattling back and forth with long pauses in between, so yeah they are not going to have a compelling reason to make their character models compatible with the faces of the actors for the sake of better performance capture.

Or, in this case, they aren't going to be as concerned with finding a woman who can act well, rather than just be very pretty.

similar as in they are human and eve is human-like.

but Eve's proportion are not realistic at all. they are stylized.
They won't understand unless they know about art or are artists, so it's not worth trying to explain. Hyung Tae Kim exaggerates the proportions in his drawings...

...but it comes across so subtle to the average online gamer that there is not really a good case to be made, especially not here. The model for Eve was slightly modified to HTK's art style after the model herself was scanned. However, it would have to look like Vanillaware proportions for your post to be taken seriously by the majority. That's why I didn't even bother making the argument myself.

It's better to just sit back and watch people poke fun at IGN for making the wrong argument.

Also, I didn't even realize you strawmanned me. What I was saying is there's a backlash to the woke media -- which is what this whole thread is about. Seems absurd to argue the opposite.

Wouldn't this just be mid-30s asian genetics vs late 40s non-celebrity caucasian genetics?

if you want to you can even compare it to Death Stranding which they use actual actors

Asian devs dont actively make character look old and beat up most of the time.

Let's do this one

I don't even see the freaking point of this. It's not like MJ in SM2 is way more mature and seasoned than the first one. She has exactly the same type of personality, motivation, and behaviors. And pretty much all other returning characters remain the same faces from Spiderman 1.
