It's like the Wii never left.

Every time I open the shop on my Switch and see only 5 games in the coming soon section, including this, I just shake my head. I wonder how many copies of this they manage to move at this hilarious price.

No, because HD Remix was supposed to be a direct port of the arcade SSF2 Turbo, which didn't have them. This, however, is supposed to be the best version of SF2, so it should have them.

I find it odd that they spent the time to create way of the hado which is so out of place in the game but didn't bother to redo artwork for the bonus stages. What the fuck were capcom thinking?

Were the mini games in the HD Remix version? What an odd omission.

Edit: someone answered it earlier. Nvm. Wish they would add them in though. They were always fun little diversions.

They weren't in the original Super Turbo either, so not that weird of an omission.

The best part is the return of the MT Framework engine for a throwaway mode.

Clearly because of an exclusivity deal.

Yup. I have no doubt if it wasn't for that they'd be releasing SF5. SF4 on the 3DS did very well at the 3DS's launch. Above a million I think. They easily could have had a repeat of that with 5. In fact I think all of Capcom's 3DS games did very well for them. It's why the lack of Resident Evil Revelations 2 made no damn sense when the first one did so well.

This Japanese only book is full of amazing scans... but Capcom warns users that the team didn't bother translating the book's Japanese captions for anyone else. Enjoy the purty pitchers, that's it. (Seriously. It's a helluva book.)
Aw that sucks. I hate it when publishers don't bother to translate those books.

It's been said before no doubt but the HD Remix artwork is fucking amateur hour. Like basic figure-drawing stance and proportion errors. It's crazy the art is so bad on a release like this, when that's one of the big selling points.

Man, it does look bad, what bummer... for the price Capcom is asking looks like you get a much better deal buying the Neo Geo fighting games, GMOTW is dope...

I consider the original pixel art to be a bigger selling point.

I have this strange feeling that we are also gonna see Ultra Street Fighter IV on the Switch later on. $40 please understand

I remember them promising that HD Remix would have an original mode and it ended up being original sprites on the HD Remix backgrounds and it looked terrible.
That's one of the good things about this release, you can play with pixelated backgrounds, so the classic characters won't look out of place on them. Note though that they aren't the original backgrounds from older games - at least Guile's stage has been updated to match his Street Fighter V stage.

Yeah but this game won't have a Super Turbo mode as far as I'm aware.

HD Remix had an original Super Turbo mode, but you couldn't make it look like OG Super Turbo. This game has an original graphics mode but you still have to play the version with Evil Ryu and Violent Ken and none of the O. Versions of the characters.

The new stuff looks kinda shitty, it doesn't even have speed settings, and it's $40?

What I don't get is why this wasn't a collection of sorts. How about USF2, 3rd Strike, and USF4 instead of just USF2 and that Hado mode that nobody is going to play after five minutes?

Again SF2 seems far more appealing to me

I'd rather have V but I get why that's impossible.

I do believe SF2 will sell well though. SF2 is THE fighting game people remember and it fits perfectly in this Zeitgeist of people re-entering the world of Nintendo/video games again after a long hiatus.

Smells like fresh rosebuds
I am gonna buy this game, but if you are on the fence for that same $40 you can get 2 King of Fighters, a SamSho, and 2 Fatal Fury fighters. That includes 2 of the greatest fighting games of all time KoF 98 and Garou: MotW.

Here's hoping that's just due to the screenshots compression or something, looks weird. :/

Am I weird for kind of liking this effect (intentional or not)? The "new" art style is way too clean for my taste. It looks like a flash game.
