Every year, I watch sports games put out incremental updates and repackage that shit as a new game. EVERY. YEAR. EA JUST decided to implement Frostbite into their sports franchises.

Look at CoD, as well. That games been essentially the same mundane crap with random bullshit peppered on top.

Theres no way you guys should of possibly expected a complete overhaul of Destiny. What would WARRANT that much of a change? Its not like Destiny 1 is bad.

Damn that was a lack luster reveal.

3 moons and one of them isn't Europa or an ice equivalent.. Also they said how much the listen to the community, we'll see if they separate PVE and PVP balancing.

Also Io reminded me of Venus right away, even the architecture and aesthetics look like the exact same. And not a fan of crucible going 4v4.

I don't know if people are trolling or being serious anymore...

Hey, why isn't destiny 2 a WWII tactical shooter with 32x32 players? Lazy devs, lol.

I have no problem with how D2 has turned out as my expectations weren't as sky high considering how D1 hampered that studio.

I'm not a game developer but I don't think building a new engine from the ground up is as simple as people are making it out to be. Not only do they have to build an engine that is for the current gen systems, they need to have an engine that is robust enough to build upon so they can keep delivering content at a regular pace for the foreseeable future and avoid the pitfalls they had with the end of Y2 and all of Y3.

Give the game a chance at the very least. Considering how D1 evolved from the beginning till now with such a old engine, we could see some really good things come from D2 in the future.

Shit man that's every shooter ever.

I'll be frank, after playing Horizon, none of Destiny's bosses are going to impress me. There's nothing like tying up a Thunderjaw and knocking parts of it off to weaken it or use against it later. And the sense of scale and danger is maintained throughout.

The giant Vex dude in this strike has some cool mechanics and behaviors, but he's ultimately still standing in the middle of an arena shooting at whoever aggros him while adds spawn. Perhaps that's par for the course of MMO bosses, and therefore I don't really see Bungie doing much new there without making the level constantly change. I mean, if you could move super fast in this game you could get away with much cooler bosses, but everything is so tied down that you're stuck chipping away at health bars either way.

But yea, winning formula and what not. Destiny fans liked it.

such a dismissive post. you have plenty of people here who play the game and understand the changes made and how they supposedly change the game, that are completely underwhelmed

I never said those who played the game before were unified in their like or dislike of the game. You're implying something I never said.

I'm just saying that, like MMOs, those unfamiliar with the original Destiny game may not appreciate the more minute changes. It's a valid point.

The need to see "dismissal" where it doesn't exist is telling. That's all you. People really are looking to complain.

Yeah that strikes boss had a neat arena but the boss itself had practically no mechanics at all. Looked pretty bog standard just like most of D1s bosses.

More Trials lag switchers. I thought D2 would end this nightmare

Yeah, exactly.

Thing that just walks around arena, and turns its attention to whoever is shooting it.

Like, come on, 3 years later, and this is the best they got?

Have you watched any of the streamer vids of the strike or PvP? They didn't even tweak the UI. Everything looks like new maps/modes added to the base game. Looks identical.

They didn't tweak the UI? Are you kidding? It looks similar but it's clear that the UI has been fine tuned and polished far more than it was in the first game. And D1 had great UI already.

I'm part of the community and I don't want this.

They can't "listen to the community" on this because the community is very mixed. I love that everything feels and plays the same in both.

It's a different experience really. For example the Thunderjaw AI would have to behave in a completely different manner to accommodate for 3 players instead of one. I know what you're saying though. At least FPS bosses have come a long way from Halo 2's Tartarus and even recently Halo 5's Warden Eternal.

Anyone find any HD capture footage of the first campaign mission?

We didn't get to capture the campaign mission on either PS4 Pro or PC.

I captured my first shot at the Strike mission on PS4 Pro. (No captures from PC build.) That'll be up at Ars Technica tomorrow morning along with more impressions.

I had a blast.

Very underwhelmed and the whole being on battle.net thing didn't help. I am just afraid it will suffer from the same lack of content the first one did when it came out and I'm curious how many lies we will have this time.

Bruh no. Sorry stop being so bias.

Uh, please explain the bias what you quoted.

I was responding to someone who literally said the only new things in the game were "a couple new subclasses and grenade launchers."

Which is, obviously, factually incorrect and not even close to what is new in the game.

Is there a second subclass confirmed for Warlocks yet? I know we have Sentinel and Striker for Titans and Gunslinger and the arc lance class for Hunters but I've only seen Dawnblade for Warlock.

I'll be watching the stream when I get home, but reading the coverage so far, I don't think Bungie have quite hit all the right notes for this reveal. They stated they wanted to come big out of the gates, but the reactions are far too varied. It feels like a re-make of Destiny, as opposed to a full blown sequel worthy of the hype. That's not inherently bad - Destiny has loads of potential - but its not what Bungie needed here after the first game.

For me, reading the coverage, the single biggest concern is just how often "new" was used to describe the content. "One new raid", "new strike", "new subclasses". It's a sequel - with a giant and creatively devoid 2 on the box. "New" should be a given. Hell, you shouldn't need to even use the word to describe the content. That's alarming for me, because to raises questions about how Bungie view this. The claims of "Destiny 1.5" may be accurate if that's how Bungie view their new game.

Hey man, quick question. Some people are a bit worried that the Guided Games only works with lesser "normal" versions of the Nightfall and not the "heroic" difficulty.

Can you clarify if you know?

Oh shit. I didn't realize that the new bomb mode was also a one-life mode, too. It's literally Search and Destroy.

I LOVED Search and Destroy, so this is awesome. I assume this'll be in the Beta. Can't wait!

your post said "meanwhile people who actually play the game", right after saying those that are saying it looks the same are "missing the point". intentionally or not, it framed it as if someone that "actually plays the game" would have a different opinion (that being not finding it samey). its dismissive.

you say people are looking to complain, i say this thread is getting increasingly defensive. trolling accusations and even "how do people not get banned for this?" type posts are starting to appear, its ugly stuff.

I can fully understand why someone that didn't get into destiny 1 would be thinking 'ok, so why should i care about this one?', as well as some hardcore players of the first game, me included, feeling like 'this is all we get?', after that reveal. its not all baseless/wanting to complain for complaining sake.

I cannot. Bungie has a lot to reveal about its online systems and didn't answer major questions about GG AFAIK.

Love this shot from the gameplay trailer. You can really see the visual improvements. Wish we had it in higher quality.

I'm done reading this thread...some of you guys are ridiculous. I don't know what you expected, but you clearly had your expectations set WAAAAAY to high.

Saying this looks like an expansion is idiotic. You haven't seen any of the story content besides the first mission. If there is a 10+ hour campaign in here, plus all the new co-op/PvP, it's clearly not an expansion. Get over yourselves.
So the game looks like Destiny? Shocker.

You realize one planet is larger than all of the original destiny right? Also more cutscenes, and I'll assume way more dialogue.

Move along.

There's nothing wrong with the UI. No need to change it.

You guys are complaining just to complain.

Powerful argument. Pick one thing out of everything I mentioned, and ignore the fact that this game is likely 10x larger than the original.

The whole game is new things. Jesus.

I don't get how posts like this don't get people banned. Straight trolling.

Ugh, dark souls 3 looks like dark souls 2.
Ugh, uncharted 3 looks like uncharted 2.
Ugh, fallout 4 looks like fallout 3.
Goddamn, why so hostile?

Uh huh. I mean I was sure I was just remarking this happens with MMO threads all the time.

But hey, you figured it out. I secretly hate all people who hate Destiny 2.

Seriously I don't care if you hate the game. I really don't. I'm just trying to have, yknow, a conversation that isn't trolling or being defencive.

This clearly isn't the place.

on another note, seeing a titan play crucible without titan skating is really jarring. even though i main hunter, that's another change i'm not happy about. traversal in pvp was another thing i feel separated and made destiny's pvp better than a lot of shooters. fuck man. i need a long nap and for e3 to get here asap so i can see more of this game/whatever else they are holding up their sleeve because right now :/

please tell me they didn't really do away with titan/warlock skating in crucible. god.

Sarcasm or no, it's a Strike boss. The best stuff is in the raid.
Strikes are arguably the meat of PvE, since that's what you're playing most of the time if you're not raiding. They shouldn't be downplayed in importance and used as an excuse for lazy bosses.

Taking out skating is lame AF, I totally agree. It was one of those things that made the Titans truly unique from the other two classes. Plus, it deserved a special traversal ability if you ask me considering Titan was also the ONLY CLASS without Blink! Though I'm unsure if that's true in D2, or heck if Blink is even in D2.

...I wouldn't mind Blink being axed honestly. Cool as hell, but a nightmare for PvP balance.
