All these fights and no one asked about any cross features?

If they announce cross-save I'm double dipping. I want to play on PC but I have a lot of irl friends that only game on ps4 destiny 1.

Actually 30 million as of May of last year.

So yeah, the hate is a tiny tiny fraction of the actual amount of people interested in this game

Yep.

D1 gave Bungie/Activision close to 1 billion dollars. The hate is a very small minority and honestly it's smart to cater to the fans actually playing the game and making it a better overall product than changing it for the people who didn't keep up with Destiny previously.

Sarcasm or no, it's a Strike boss. The best stuff is in the raid.

What does this even mean, really? Why is it okay that the best stuff might be tucked away into the final 10% of the experience? I still can't reconcile how the Bungie that created the Scarab boss and fun battle scenarios from the best Halo encounters is making bosses like the one in this strike. It's In The Raid™ is not a good argument.

Many of the people complaining about this reveal (I imagine at least half) in this thread have put hundreds and hundreds of hours into the first game. We're pissed because for 3 years we've watched Bungo try to patch up D1 to the best of their ability. We were hoping the patchwork phase was over and a totally revamped, retooled, redesigned sequel was coming to blow everyone away. Especially after last year's fairly barebones RoI expansion. Surely they were cooking up something good, something worth the wait.

...nope. More patching up the holes of D1. It looks like they've patched most of them now, but god damn it, those holes should have been gone years ago.

Shit. My ps4 pro is nice though. Plays many other competetive 60fps shooters fairly well.

But seriously, what's the verdict?

30fps on all consoles.

It's a different experience really. For example the Thunderjaw AI would have to behave in a completely different manner to accommodate for 3 players instead of one. I know what you're saying though. At least FPS bosses have come a long way from Halo 2's Tartarus and even recently Halo 5's Warden Eternal.

Yea it's ultimately comparing apples to oranges, but i mean, once you see how good apples can taste, oranges don't really satisfy you anymore.

Destiny strikes are more about plowing through waves of enemies and then chucking bullets at a boss (for loot especially) as opposed to creatively taking down the boss itself. I don't really see Bungie reinventing that formula anytime soon, but I'd be lying if I said what I saw didn't look too familiar.

Love this shot from the gameplay trailer. You can really see the visual improvements. Wish we had it in higher quality.

There you go.

Sorry bud :( Looks like 30fps on all current consoles. I am a bit perplexed as well.
I posted this in another thread and I'll put it here too.

Luke Smith said flat out in IGN interview consoles are locked at 30fps because of their CPU's!

Pro/Scorpio will be higher res but still 30 both of there CPU's are still to similar it's a limitation because of all their AI he says this point of fact.

For me, the game DOES look like an expansion. I'm not exactly upset about that, though.

It's way too early to tell, but it looks about on par (possibly smaller? Depends on what they have up their sleeve) with something like Legion for WoW. New class stuff, new loot, new dungeons and raids, new zone to level in, and QoL improvements to the game including stat rebalances.

This is about what I expected, though. IMO the dlc for destiny 1 was comparable to the $15 a month I've payed for other MMOs, and I figured this would be a "big expansion."

I think people are underwhelmed because they didn't show anything that said "yup, here it is. This is Destiny 2." It's a lot of "here's what we took from Destiny 1 and here is how we made it better."

I think people expecting this to be something other than a big expansion is going to leave a lot of players sour.

Thanks for the breakdown. That makes sense in a MMO, actually. They tend to be more CPU-intensive than other games.

like hell it is. it's more of the same thing.

more of the same thing with new features, abilities, locales, enemies, art, graphics, campaign, etc. oh so you're saying it's a sequel? what are you guys even arguing for from bungie at this point a blow job?

lame...they could at least made crucible 60fps. lower players counts and all. no one's really paying attention to minute details on mp maps.

right?

the armor is the same.
the guns are the same.
the supers are the same.
the raid is the same.
all of the strikes are the same.
just like Destiny 1 there's no storyline.
there's still no way to match make. no clans, no lfg ingame tool.
pvp is still 3v3/6v6. same maps.
the NPCs still do nothing but wait at the tower and be useless.

prob just gonna pass. it's just the same game with a 2 slapped on it.

I think it looks great. Very similar, but I can see the improvements to the lighting and particle effects, and the environments are huge. Can't wait to dig in to it. I don't get the complaints about boss mechanics; as if the raids in Destiny don't deliver on mechanics in spades. Eh, you can't please everyone I guess. I'm in day one.

Their engine must still be a rancid piece of shit if 4v4 mp can't do 60fps.

no destruction, no environmental effects, heck even if it means taking the resolution down to achieve 60 ala UC4, te trade-off would be worth it.

Oh fuck off with this defense force bullshit. There's precious little in here that's actually new, a single fucking subclass are you fucking kidding me?

I mean WoW upgraded graphics over xpacs does that mean we're playing WoW 5 now?

Are they finally going to realize the big worlds/landscapes they promised for 1? Will not play the series again untill that happens.

Also is the story fixed?

Your opinion may have been able to make a case if you had watched more than a slideshow, judging by your knowledge of the game so far.
In no way do the classes play "exactly the same" as in Destiny 2, with the closest one being GunSlinger, it still acts drastically different compared to the first installment. There is gameplay out for both a Strike, and some PvP. I suggest if you were trying to make a proper aurgument, you may wish to watch those to make your case.

From what I've seen the graphics look way better than the first. I don't know what people are missing when they say they look the same.

I'm eager to see some Scorpio footage so I know which version to preorder.

I play Destiny a ton on PS4 Pro and Xbox one on a nice big 4K tv and what I saw today was very very much a better looking game!

This might be the most hyperbolic thing said in this thread yet.

Blade dancer is reskinned and functions almost exactly the same. GOlden gun you said it. The warlock ability gives them a sword to throw their sun grenades out of now. Titans get a Captain America shield which looked like the most distinguished ability. I haven't watched the PvP but the strike looked like destiny 1, through and through.

I'll be frank, after playing Horizon, none of Destiny's bosses are going to impress me. There's nothing like tying up a Thunderjaw and knocking parts of it off to weaken it or use against it later. And the sense of scale and danger is maintained throughout.

The giant Vex dude in this strike has some cool mechanics and behaviors, but he's ultimately still standing in the middle of an arena shooting at whoever aggros him while adds spawn. Perhaps that's par for the course of MMO bosses, and therefore I don't really see Bungie doing much new there without making the level constantly change. I mean, if you could move super fast in this game you could get away with much cooler bosses, but everything is so tied down that you're stuck chipping away at health bars either way.

But yea, winning formula and what not. Destiny fans liked it.

You're absolutely right. Most of Destiny's Strike bosses boil down to spamming attacks while you run around an arena evading it and killings mobs. Some of the better ones have additional mechanics to them like the TTK Venus Strike but those are few and far between. Unfortunately, they always reserve their creative boss and mission encounter for the raids.

I mean, people are pointing out the (very clear) differences and improvements, and you're basically just going "nuh uh". Calm down

1. The guns have been altered slightly to improve on what was poor in D1, In vanilla destiny the gunplay was considered the better part of the game.
2. You'd be changing up the whole lore and shafting D1 if every super was new.
3. We haven't seen the raid.

I could easily say "Either you hated the shit out of that presentation, or you're a sucker who's still being duped into buying this garbage" based on many of the responses in this thread, and they'd both be bullshit that served no purpose other than to provoke people so how about we just not do that
