I kinda dig the suit, except for those shoulder straps.

The white spider will probably be something silly like "it will change colour to show how much damage you take".

As for the game itself, good web swinging with a good sense of speed
and an unlockable black suit
will probably be enough to make me happy.

Talks about how good Ratchet and Clank is but shows ship combat gameplay :/

On topic cant wait for the gameplay reveal, they need to get the web slinging right.

Looking forward to this the most out of all games right now, but strangely my expectations are pretty low. As long as traversing around town is fun I will probably be satisfied. Good combat would be nice too. The graphics already look great so not worried there.

decent? dude if this doesn't turn out to be the best Spider-Man game ever made i'd be extremely disappointed.

Insomniac has everything to make this game absolutely amazing, it's not tied to a movie, the Marvel studio is only 10 minutes away from them... there is really no excuse to make this just a decent Spider-Man game.

One could say that shouldn't be hard to achieve.

There's no doubt it will look glorious, but I'm eager to see what the gameplay is like.

Damn right. As far as I'm concerned physics based web slinging is my only must have feature.

It had a steep learning curve to master it, but once you did it was the most perfect replication of an actual superhero ability ever committed to a game. There was a purity to the swinging action once you got good at it, a sort of flow that somehow made it feel like web slinging was an actual possibility in the world. It was a joyous feeling, the most unambiguous representation of Peter Parker's exuberance upon first learning how to web sling himself.

Trust me you guys who don't understand may think physics-based swinging is an odd request, but when you play it it'll change your superhero videogame playin' life.

Venom should be saved for the sequel imo. He's in 2 out of the 3 best Spider-Man games, time for someone else to get that shine.

Regardless this'll be the PS4's best game for the generation. I can feel it.

you have to contextualize why you want physics based web slinging for these new town folks. These young cats don't know bout that Spider-Man 2 web slinging glory. Your desire is righteous and the Gods are on your side.

Holy fucking shit. Ok, what the fuck? That looks both mechanically and technically more advanced than anything that has come out after that (regarding swinging on a rope etc.). Why in the hell hasn't this been iterated and improved on? Too hard to master? Fuck me now I don't even want the new Spiderman game if it doesn't feature physics based swinging. You just most likely ruined the game for me. I don't want anything less than that now.

He can be in this one and a sequel too, and he won't be the only one getting shine.

Makes perfect sense to have Venom introduced in this one

I'm really happy with the suit actually: it really helps to differentiate this game as something in its own universe apart from the movies and comics, sort of like the Ultimate universe

I hope other studios keep giving characters their own spin
assuming captain America gets his scale mail

Spider-Man 64 was one of the most influential pieces of media that launched me into being a lifelong comic fan, and Sunset overdrive was so fucking good that I have absolutely nothing but raw excitement for this game

Also it's going to have Mr negative, so I feel safe assuming it's going to be rad

There was a guy who worked for ages on just the swinging physics. It was his pride and joy.

It has yet to ever be replicated again :(

While not a Spider-Man game, Attack on Titan's maneuver gear mechanics are very similar. You actually have to attach onto buildings, trees, titans etc. in order to gain momentum rather than just being able to attach to thin air

Don't have a problem with him being in so long as he isn't the main bad guy. And if he is, hopefully Insomniac can avoid a symbiote storyline.

Ooohh, I almost forgot about it.
And it's probably my most anticipated release this year.

Wait, this year ?
For some reason it's hard for me to believe it's coming in 2017 but Insomniac has been pretty reliable as far as release dates go I think ?

Think most of us came to the conclusion it's just a canned animation to transition through an area. Like Assassin's Creed 3 did when entering a window.

Eh, I guess I can live with that. Hopefully they're plentiful and easy to swing/run into.

Give me a Venom game by Platinum instead.

All I want is web swinging at least on par with SM2. I mean, I want some other stuff too, but I NEED that. It's a deal breaker for me. Cloud swinging (and/or automatic non-physics-based crap) and I'm out.

It's crazy how good SM2 webslinging is. The wall-run while swinging, doing whole loops around a single point, jumping straight off of walls, the slingshot...

I really want to know how that couldn't be replicated since.

now you've seen the light

but it cannot be unseen

Please be as good as Web of Shadows.

Web of Shadows was a good game for Spidey enthusiasts but I have no doubt Insomniac's Spider-Man will easily surpass it.

I will say that I think Web of Shadows did the best job at air combat of any Spidey game. Kind of a tricky mechanic for developers, I imagine.

Really surprised people didn't know about Spider-Man 2's godtier swinging.

Fans have been begging for it to return for over 10yrs.

1. Spider-Man 2
2. Spider-Man (PS1/N64)
3. Web of Shadows
4. Ultimate Spider-Man
5. Shattered Dimensions
6. The Amazing Spider-Man
7. Enter Electro
8. Spider-Man: The Movie
9. Edge of Time
10. Spider-Man 3 (PS3/360)
11. The Amazing Spider-Man 2
12. Spider-Man 3 (PS2/Xbox)
13. Friend or Foe

That's all that I've played. I really hope that Insomniac's will claim number 1.

maaan you know they're probably going to have like nineteen unlockable spiderman costumes as rewards. Relax! ;)

Unless the suit is a story element, I hope they let me play in whatever suit I want from the beginning and not after I've finished the game.
