You can't really save or embed animated gifs on twitter can you?

Not quite as hypnotic as the '4 days left' one, but I'll let it pass.

Because someone made one?

Seems like someone should have just posted this in one of the many other arms related threads.

Why did Splatoon's? True mysteries of the universe.

Dont remember splatoons twitter page getting a thread.. But agreed...assuming it did get one...why would we need one? I feel like information pertaining to these games being divided amongst 5 differents threads is kind of anti-productive......

Their daily art updates have become sort of an event. The other threads are bogged down with all sorts of other nonsense. For whatever reason, this thread has remained pretty much on topic. Until now so I digress.

Spring just seems forced as the "face" of ARMS which is a turn off to me. He kinda doesn't read as anything but generic and designed from a marketing stand point as the safest thing for a game like this. I don't see anything iconic about his design or persona so I wouldn't call it a potential "timeless design" either. Like that one Lucario rip off, Zoroark. Sometimes you miss the mark when trying to mimic iconic design elements.
Spring Man's design alone perfectly summarizes what the game is all about. I mean, your opinion is subjective. I don't think Spring Man's design is generic. Find me a character that looks similar. Twin looks great as a character, but I'm not sure how you can say her look is above his. But it's all subjective.

I actually find Twintelle to be a fair bit more "generic" than Spring Man, insofar as her lower torso is pretty much copy/pasted from Bayonetta, right down to the booty and style of pants. Beyond that she's a pretty girl with a lucha mask and drill-tails.

I like her design, don't get me wrong. But for me, Spring Man's color scheme, lithe silhouette and metallic pompadour give him more POP. Great design, and I look forward to him arriving in Smash Bros.

"Springaling!"

Uhh, I guess? Really if it weren't for her time powers, I wouldn't connect her to Bayonetta at all for something as silly as her also having a butt.

It provides relevant videogame information that people want to discuss on a discussion board about relevant videogame information

I mean i could use these arguments to justify the creation of any thread...and if every games twitter page had a thread i feel discussion would be far less productive here on gaf. Currently as somebody intrigued by the game im finding it hard to find any actually impactful discussion thats not just hype imo. Ultimately the community is contributing to making the game less intriguing to me with all these unneccesary threads.

Twintelle's mid-air float pose is pretty much straight out of Bayonetta. I don't mind, though, because it's super-cool, and I adore Bayonetta.

If other twitters have a daily stream of updates about gameplay systems and mechanics and controller schematics and demo details and character concept art, and if people actually want to discuss that new information... Then sure, they should have threads too. Why not? If there's no interest, the thread will fade into obscurity.

Would you prefer that every item that comes up on Twitter have its own separate thread, as per the "new thread for new information" rule? There would be even more ARMS threads. Is that what you want?

It's a thread talking about updates straight from the developers, from concept art to some gameplay-related stuff. I don't know what's more worth discussing in a game forum.

Eh, that's kind of a "you problem" though...

I didn't say you didn't like the character, just the copy/paste comment just struck me as odd.

There's the ARMS control scheme thread if you want to talk about the control scheme. There's the twitter thread if you want to talk about the twitter updates. There's the character threads if you want to talk about why you like a particular character.

Your argument that it would be easier to talk about stuff if everything was merged into one thread is odd. Also, saying that a game is less interesting to you because there's too many threads on gaf is weird whether you realize it or not.

One of the weirdest posts I've ever read.

NOA should put up the video that Cobutter put yesterday. For those paying attention probably already know most of what that video said but it'd be nice to see it in English too.

50 plus hours until the first Global Testpunch... can't wait! I'll use Mechanica first since I really like those gloves she has where 3 little gloves pop out. And someone in the recent tournament used it to good effect by spamming it so much. XD

So what exactly is Biff? A robot? A sentient mascot character?

One theory is that he's a part of the final boss that's giving everyone ARMS ability, like the final boss is the head and right arm while biff is the rogue left (I may have got the left and right mixed up there though) :3

Maybe it's charge lag but it doesn't seem to charge initially when he stretches upwards. Oh, and merely jumping up doesn't give you charge normally, no?

It seems to always have charged at that speed when using stretch stance when looking at his initial reveal video. It might be counting the stretch up animation as part of the "cook" time to start a charge rather than waiting until the animation ends.

I'm not sure if it is automatic or if you need to hold the jump button but from the videos we've seen so far, the charge from a jump seems to kick in when they land following an empty jump and in other cases like Mechanica who can hover, the charge happens mid flight.

We've also seen videos of characters dashing without a charge resulting or dash abilities engaging like Springman's shockwave or Min Min's dragon noodle, so I think charges activate from holding the button instead of tapping.

It's the first thing I'm testing in the demo.

Hmm, the empty jump observation makes a lot of sense.

From what we know so far, Spring Man gets permanent charge <25% hp, Ribbon Girl seems to get charge when she quick drops mid jump, Min Min gets free charge after a throw, Mechanica/Twintelle can both hover mid-jump and that allows them to charge in the air, and Helix charges when stretching out. On a side note, Kid Cobra can only do consecutive triple dashes when charged.

You might have but I haven't seen anyone state that specifically. All the different character-specific methods of charging arms need to be compiled somewhere.
It's not character specific per se, it's just part of how he jumps. Holding jump means you charge up.

Superman
Archie
James Dean's iconic look
Add Black Hair and a Sequence jacket and Springman is Elvis

It feels like generic 1950s/60s Americana, except it doesnt carry enough modern influences so rather then being "Timeless and updated" it just feels stuck in the past.

A good contrast to that is Min Min who while being the prototypical tomboy/girl next door manages to update her design for the modern era. Minmin's design feels modern because, of the much more modern clothing choices, colour scheme and the Dragon arm which is a visual allusion to a tatoo sleeve. Something that much more socially acceptable in the present.

What are you event talking about. I have no idea where you are where Springman's design isn't "socially acceptable". The only thing remotely stuck in the past is his hairstyle

I wouldn't say that Min Min's design is all that well indicative of "modern" sensibilities more than Spring Man's is, given that she plays pretty much entirely into her two primary stereotypes (ramen, and East Asian martial arts). I sure wouldn't say that the dragon arm is at all meant to reference tattoo sleeves. Spring Man is an enthusiastic comeback-kid boxer and his look is designed around that in the same way that Min Min's works for her theme. Most all of the characters seem to be designed around similar mashups between two different styles (Ribbons + pop idol, snakes + extreme sports, clockwork + police, ninja + student, etc).

Whats happening in 3 days?

The beginning of the ARMS Global Testpunch!
