I saw someone in chat talking shit about M&K with third person shooters too and I don't get it. at all. like what's the problem there?

I'm one of the few that enjoyed the fuck out of the TEW. You could do some cool shit in that game the more you experiment with it, jank and all.
so you think you're fucking clever, huh

Players control Starkiller's renegade clone, a failure of Darth Vader's attempt to create a perfect secret apprentice.

Moving around with a keyboard is kinda awkward.

That said, the mouse is still so much better for aiming. Especially in a fast-paced game like Vanquish. Mouse is so precise, you don't even need bullet time to do really cool shit.

If the game never gives you a reason to experiment, then that's a valid complaint.

Game that forces you to experiment: MGSV

Game that doesn't, much to its detriment: Nier Automata

I agree that it's valid, It's just funny how to me how different I am when I play games. I love trying everything out at least a little bit, and I don't really care if the game isn't explicitly showing the benefits of all the options it gives to the player.

Although I do love the efforts games like MGSV make to force the player to adapt

To me Vanquish felt like it needed a mouse (or wiimote) for aiming and freeing up a finger. Maybe I was doing it wrong, but I don't know how you can play that game well without clawing.

For as sincere and serious as it seems like it’s trying to be about ideals like sacrifice and duty, its glimpses of robot dance parties suggest sillier intentions, and yet I can’t tell if Vanquish is winking when it delivers midnight-movie-worthy lines like “We won’t let New York become the next San Francisco!” I guess it doesn’t really matter, I laughed anyway.

I really hope New York doesn't become the next San Francisco.

Eh I knew what to expect. Vanquish doesn't show off its maximum potential unless you're really good at it, and none of them ever said that they were.

And that's why you boost dodge, infinite invincibility frames. Don't think Ben knows how to do it though.

every fucking time Vanquish comes up, some elitist shitbag has to come in and pretend that the game is only good because they're so fucking good at it.

I can't think of many instances where I was watching the guys play a game they're really good at? The only thing I can think of is Patrick and his Spelunky streams, he got pretty good at that, pretty sure he got the speedrun achievement

Jeez dude, who shit in your cereal this morning? :p

It's ok if you don't like Vanquish, but you can't deny that the game was meant to be played differently than a standard cover shooter.

You can totally play and beat the game like that, but you're not getting the full Vanquish experience.

I don't see what's elitist about that.

It's like saying that you're not getting the full Bayonetta experience if you play in auto-mode.

it'd be funny if they played Hotline Miami or Max Payne 3 or something and people were saying it was in fact the game that was boring and not the people playing it

and anybody who disagreed, no matter how politely, was an elitist shitbag
