I mean, I think the DCEU has been getting better with every movie (completely worthless Man of Steel -> interesting but ultimately pretty awful Batman vs. Superman -> watchable but crappy Suicide Squad), so between that and the positive early impressions, I fully expect Wonder Woman to be decent.

Can it surmount decent into good, or even great? We'll see.

I love period piece superhero stories so I certainly hope so.

Reviews will mostly be best dceu film or their best since the Dark Knight.
Pine and Gadot have great chemistry
Really good action setpieces

Fun supporting cast that is kind of underutilized
Main villain who kind of comes out of nowhere with an uneven third act

I expect it to be fresh in the 80s but average ratings in mid 7s

Saw GotG Vol 2 yesterday, seeing this Thursday, what an awesome week :D

I'm hoping this will be a great movie, definitely one of the ones I have been looking forward to.

Its Wonderful
I fucking hate that animated movie, one of the biggest reasons being for how it characterizes Wonder Woman as a violent idiot. I don't mind the ice cream joke transfering over, since she isn't waving a sword around threatening to kill people for percieved minor slights, but just seeing that gif reminded me of how wrong Wonder Woman can go.

If you want to imagine the worst case scenerio for how Wonder Woman could have been characterized, Justice League: War is it.

It's a nitpick for stuff like this and Injustice why does some one who can punch superman go around with a sword and shield

Wasn't Justice League War based on the New 52 reboot first arc? Never watched the movies, but those comics we're legit some of the worst I have ever read.

In the comics WW is susceptible to piercing weapons so she uses the shield or bracelets to deflect. And the sword is magical so that's always cool to have.

because sometimes you need to do slicing or stabbing damage instead of blunt damage, and she doesn't have the benefit of heat vision

Yeah it was based on that arc and it's just as bad. The Sequel, Throne of Atlantis, was alright though. But the last truly great DC animated movie is probably Flashpoint Paradox unless I'm forgetting something.

I'm probably biased because i like the Geoff Johns comic run but even that had a lot of problems and i didn't care for it though i can vouch for Gads and monsters, plus the last TT one was decent and SS was better than the movie which is a low bar. but otherwise yeah

JL War wasn't great, no. I'm grateful the DCEU movies aren't trying to make Superman and Wonder Woman a thing. I never want to hear Superman tell her "You're strong."

jon bones

hot hot hanuman-on-man action
still have a good feel about this & Aquaman

The best part is that WW is not Marvelized. It's still dark and has tough moments. It just has more levity and the characters are relatable. That's a formula I can get behind.

-finally gets good DCEU movie
-can't describe it without talking about Marvel

I love Justice League: War. One of my favorite DC animated movies.

Because everyone is SUCH a caricature that it's almost a parody. Like, Wonder Woman is a dumb brute, Superman is a showboating jackass, Green Lantern has the foresight of a blind man... it's hilarious.

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and Batman: Under the Red Hood.

I mean, yeah, but those were before Flashpoint.

Forgot about the Suicide Squad one, I really enjoyed it. Gods and Monsters was good, but not Flashpoint good. I couldn't make it through the two Teen Titans films even though I know they are relatively well-liked.

I'm cool with that. It's like how people who like ASBAR for it's sheer absurdity. So long as we all recognize it for what it is.

Fair enough though i agree that the New 52 movies are weak they either do a shit job of adapting the strorylines like the the Owls and fist Damian movie as well as KJ or they adapt shit storylines like JL war and even the original story are not great

Justice League: War was horrible.

Hope Wonder Woman is better.
