Hmm I do have Crusader Kings 2 sitting in my library. But it's very intimidating game to start. Maybe I should install Civ V again. The problem with that though, I run out of podcasts before I stop playing. Thanks for the suggestions.

It is intimidating (I still suuuck) but I think it's worth getting into. I love Civ as well but despite being better at Civ, I've found my time with CK2 more rewarding.

I'd love to have some podcast games too, but I usually get way too focused into the game that I really don't follow the discussion. Hearthstone is good for this since I can alt+tab on enemy turn and watch video of it too, so it has my attention better. Maybe if I still played Wow, but turning my brain off completely for grinding isn't something I enjoy anymore. Not sure if I ever did, but it was just mandatory for the end game content. And often in Wow, I was in voice com with friends anyway.

Last few games I have played during podcasts (although I tend to listen to the podcasts during work the last few weeks):
RimWorld, Prison Architect, Forza Horizon 3 (finishing all the championships, which was a grind) and Euro Truck Simulator 2.

Also some Cities: Skylines, Planet Coaster and Urban Empire.

So building/managing games always work well for me (but I guess not everybody likes those). I have tried some Yakuza 0 before as well (while I was grinding for money), but that didn't really work well imo.

Something like Civ and some modes of bejeweled work great as well.

I usually play without sound when I listen to a podcast.

These don't really hook me when they are open ended, like Cities: Skylines and Prison Architect. Unless they added a longer campaign, In early access when I was playing it was mostly a tutorial. I'm not much of a sandbox guy. Something like the campaigns in Tropico though, love those games.

Just watched this week's Friend Code. I feel like Damiani said two separate times that he was going to have something up on the screen when the episode went up but then there was nothing there. So that was awkward.

Star Trek Bridge Crew is up for vote and that's cool and all (and winning), but they probably wouldn't set it up in a way that they can play co-op with each other, would they? If not, that would be disappointing.

I'm pretty sure they only have 2 VR headsets between them and setting up the Vive and PSVR would prbabky be a nightmare.

That FFVII panel...needed to happen just a few days later lol.
This was a topic they somewhat discussed during the Q&A portion of the panel in which someone had asked about Nomura's output at SE. I find this news interesting, but not surprising after reading that recruitment article a few days ago.

Insomniac's Spiderman and God of War are my "expected dream-fodder" but I'm really itching for some Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay. That would validate my E3 for sure. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 stuff as well. I'll take any Switch new as a bonus as I'm definitely playing that more due to its form-factor than I do my PS4 :(

No Shenmue 3 either. The E3 of nightmares.

Eh, I can waif a while. Glad SquareEnix took it away from CC2 if they couldn't cut it. I'd rather wait than have something shit out.

I mean, the other prt of that was Last Guardian, which we did get and was amazing, but we did wait close to a decade for it.

I'm caught up with the Trails series now(finished everything but the gatcha game akatsuki) and with help of the Falcom Discord and their expertise pointing things out that I've missed I have to say Trails has some Dark Souls level of obscure lore connections that you can only surmise by paying attention to the world.

(Decided to spoiler tag in just in case but honestly it's just vague mentions of things I doubt most people would notice without someone pointing it out to them unless you're one of the deep dive dark souls lore hunters. I think these vague little nudges on what to look out for might actually help people appreciate it more)
From little things like being able to conclude different form names of a very famous sword style only based on comparing the different attack names different characters share employing this sword style to narrative endgame spoilers based on only ultimate art (tarot pictures they appear when you unleash a special attack thing) appearing in later titles.
Or comparing speech ticks of certain characters to see if they match up with ones kept unknown to us so far. To having a long view on character writing like having a good reason for why characters might refer to themselves in third person or why they act forcefully chipper around others. To random fictional novels in the world gaining unexpected relevance in titles that released years later. To many things more.

The rabbit hole goes unbelievably deep. Alongside Nier:A(I feel pretty safe to say this now after having this game not leave my mind for basically 2 months now) the two trails games I played this year are almost certainly going to be at the top of my personal Gotys. I'm currently in a mood where I seem to favor games that let me chew on them even after finishing them no disrespect to stuff like Nioh which is mostly insane fun.

Cup of Jones is up.

Notes that will be of interest for everyone:

- There's enough avenues of them talking and everyone apart from Don has their own show where they talk and take questions. Box Peek will likely be something as an inspiration for possibly doing 'seasons' of new shows if people have ideas within their budget.
- Doesn't think they'll hit 45k by the end of the month, but is considering doing it for E3 anyway to entice things
- Weekly show but still only looking at one trailer. Will be done remotely, but for the audio quality, Kyle and Bloodworth will record locally as well and send to Jones for him to cut together. The Let's All Go To The Trailers format is too much work and bad for SEO. Bummer.
- Won't have a day of the week, will be responsive to when trailers come out and might be more than a week. The one a week is the minimum. May not always be games
- If they do hit the 45k, after they finish working on Box Peek, new $2 tier. Vote on the trailers to score while bringing up your own thoughts on it and pointing things out for them to focus on.
- Jones won't be on the EA E3 stream now. Has E3 judge VIP access on the games. Must be nice. Will be there for Sunday, so Bethesda and MS I think. Only said Bethesda by name.
- Frame Trap will be recorded (live on Twitch?) on Thursday and Jones will do a big Judges week info dump. Will stream on his own into the night if stuff is missed.

Trailer Jones sounds pretty awesome. i know Jones says in the cup of Jones that the patreon may dip and not get there this month but it sounds really intriguing to me so hopefully that works out..

Yeah, I'd be content with just CGI too actually and maybe a little update on how the developement is going, what kind of features we are to expect. But sadly, they have said that this year is for Gwent in terms of communication. Ofcourse they might want to surprise us, but I have zero expectations for them to do so. And from what I understand, their plan is to stay quiet and not release much very early trailers before the game is basically ready to go. I think they said being fans of what Bethesda did with Fallout 4.

My dream announcement would be that Double Fine got the rights from Disney to Monkey Island and Ron Gilbert would join the team in creating actual sequel to MI2. No disrespect to the third game in the series, it was excellent. But seeing the vision from the original creator would be awesome.

Ouch, my interest in that has just plummeted :(

can someone explain, why he doesnt think they'll reach 45K?

Do people actually up their pledge and then remove it before the end of the month to troll them? :(

I don't get it.

If the show will only happen if it holds 45k after the payment cycle then it's already a lost battle, each month they lose about 1,5k and only climb to where/close they were before 15 to 20 days later, and considering people saying one guy this month up pledged 1k, this ain't happening.

What's not to get? Jones said himself it probably won't hold, so it's not happening.

But there's lots of weird things in the public facing Patreon number too. Like if your payment fails and you don't correct it in the grace period, even if you correct it, it doesn't show in the total until your payment is successful. So we'll really never know.

If they do clear it for the month with one off payments, then they'll do it for a month.

Actually blood has stated the drop once all the payment issues are worked out 5-10 days later is usually around a $500 drop. We can't see that from what patreon shows us on the first of each month

What i don't get is that i thought they got the last day of the month's figure anyway and Patreon is the one who has to deal with the dips in the numbers? I thought i read that here, so will the Alllies still get the 45,5k or they get what is left after day 5 of next month?

No, they get what is actually paid. If payments fail, Patreon doesn't make up the difference for them

Got you.

Was it changed recently or i always understood it wrong? I remember Jones saying not to worry about the dip in numbers last June for their E3 stretch because they would get the money either way, i think i just misunderstood the whole deal.

So over the weekend, I watched part one of the E3 Huber Syndrome (aka Hype-City aka aka Huber Hypedome). My God. The Hype level is off the charts. My one qualm: Where is everyone getting the idea of a Bloodborne 2 being announced at E3? I've been noticing a lot of podcasts (outside of EZA) are also talking about it. Where are they getting this idea from? Is it just Hype for Hype-sake? From Software said that they were, currently, done with the Souls games and I just lumped Bloodborne in with them.

Don't get me wrong, I would love a bloodborne 2. The faster gameplay was something that pulled me back into the Souls games after Dark Souls 2. But I don't want my heart broken when it doesn't show up at E3.

the bloodborne 2 talk is always a tongue in cheek joke, never to be meant seriously, it is just that Ian loves so much Bloodborne that he wants a 2 forever.

I don't follow that much From Software news, but while watching EZA and browsing GAF I can't escape it either. But my understanding is that they are rather doing a new IP too, they've been pretty clear on that I think. But maybe it was regarding Dark Souls specifically and they don't consider Bloodborne being the same thing. Which they probably don't.

Edit: From quick googling Miyazaki has stated that no sequels are coming, period. But focusing on a new IP. They have worked on multiple games at the same time before though.

When it comes to games within the mainstream, Ian cares for little besides Souls games.

Most people have just assumed that Bloodborne II is a thing because of the "success" of the first game. There's just as many reasons for it to not exist for it to exist.

- Frame Trap will be recorded (live on Twitch?) on Thursday and Jones will do a big Judges week info dump.

I hope that this will be changed and Jones said it isn't set in stone yet. The judge's verdicts shouldn't be hidden inside a probably already long podcast. I hope he'll instead grab an Ally or two and bounce off them about various games and do "Just played" style conversations. That stream could then be cut and released as seperate videos for those who seek dedicated EZA E3 info on a certain game. I wouldn't mind waiting for the bulk of his views till the week after E3 because everybody will be pretty much numb from info/work overload anyway at the end of E3 itself.

A German magazine I read even has Bloodborne 2 listed as one of the topics for next month's issue. No pictures or anything, it's just mentioned there boldly. Didn't want to post it as a scoop and blow it up as a confirmation or embargo breaking scandal but it certainly adds fuel to the fire.

Was about to say the same thing LOL

Somnus Nomura.

EDIT: And honestly, I'm not worried more than I already was about Shenmue. They only showed one thing recently, a character model, and it looked pretty great. Then they said they won't be at E3 which I felt was inevitable.

For anyone who's curious, it's a 9 minute loop of a 3 second clip with Ben Moore laughing during the Sony E3 2016 pre-show. Not really sure why anyone would waste time making this.

Because Ben Moore's laughter sounds like puppies running on fluffy clouds?

But all sarcasm aside, thanks for the heads up.

Hey guys, I'm back finally. Since Bloodworth said the video might be uploaded I won't type up my notes on the talk itself, so hopefully you will get to see it soon, but it was a really fun time. I got to meet each Ally after and got a little talking time. Everyone is taller than I thought they would be, haha. I spoke the most with Kyle and Ben, and they were so nice and easy to talk to. I loved how Kyle was incredibly enthusiastic, he seems so eager to hear what you have to say. Great fun. Here's some photos:

The panel, I was in the front row

Here are the photos I took with them, with me removed (kyle is so damn photogenic)

and lastly I doodled their faces on my notes and I got them to sign the doodles

okay that's it for now i guess!

Thanks for the pics and nice sketches!

Prediction that I feel will likely come true whatever thatgamecompany next thing is we'll learn at e3. It's not that long ago they teased something with artwork. Question is if they'll appear at Sony despite being multiplat.
