Majora's Mask 3D 240p vs 4K (emulator) video comparison

Insane what a resolution bump can do, that looks gorgeous.

Nintendo really should port both OoT 3D and MM 3D to Switch. Seems like it'd be easy money.

Whew.

See, now I just want an HD Zelda collection for the Switch that I know isn't going to happen. Thanks.
But seriously, thanks for the vid. I'm always surprised to see just how high res some 3DS textures are.

Yeah, the 3DS remakes are quite good and some of the better looking titles for the system. I still think they could use with some touching up (the animations are rough at times, some low rez textures, etc) but it would be pretty great to get these at 1080p and maybe even 60fps on Switch eventually

This does look good and like others have said, a quick and dirty upres of majoras mask and ocarina would be printing money for Nintendo for minimal effort and they would surely both sell well on the switch.

Good comparison, went to check out his others...but the Skyward Sword one is pretty terrible. Looks like those "OMG, Nintendo games in UE4!" fan made projects that look like garbage.

IIRC, the screen filter or something in Skyward Sword doesn't work correctly in an emulator yet so it doesn't give the desired effect like you see on real hardware.

Wow the textures look amazing. Given the high quality of the textures it would be crazy for Nintendo not to port MM3D (and OoT 3D if the textures are the same high quality) to the Switch.

Grezzo were pretty talented on 3DS. A bit of a bummer that Ever Oasis is stuck on 3DS. Hopefully that won't be their only shot at making original titles. Looks very pretty despite the stylized visuals and 3DS's resolution.

Similar to GameCube and Wii, some games used texture resolutions beyond the 480p or 240p standard.
N64 however still looked bad for the most part even at 240p

Boy, that game has an excellent art style, and those textures, wow.
These comparisons honestly just remind me of how underpowered the 3DS was, though. Not just the screen, the hardware, too. I can recall a number of PSP games that hold up nearly as well when up-rezzed, despite having half a decade on 3DS.

It's really strange to me how much effort they put into these textures considering the hardware would just murder them. No I don't think the 3DS is trash, but this level of detail is so far beyond what was needed that it's kind of puzzling.

Lots of PSP games hide some great looking models and textures under that resolution. It's not surprising that the 3DS is the same way.

Anyone have those Type-0 PPSSPP pictures? Honestly looks better than the bloom and blur "HD" remaster IMO.

Ocarina and Majora 3D have the best artstyles of the series, a perfect 1:1 translation of the original art with all the vibrant colors and detail.

A Switch collection of these two would tide me over until the next Zelda mainline entry.

Maybe they made them to not have to do them again for future iterations on better hardware. I'd buy Ocarina and MM for Switch in a heartbeat if they looke even remotely like the 4k screens in 1080p.
