Spider-Man E3 2017 Gameplay - PS4 - 2018

Does Kraven the Hunter literally hunt Spider-Man? Might be cool if he pops up sporadically for a surprise attack as like a mini-boss. Maybe that escalates throughout the game and he comes back with new weapons and tool to try and take Spidey down.

Suit customization confirmed at 5 minutes in this vid.

Thank fuck, because the suit is hideous. I was hoping it would grow on me, but eurgh. Everything else looks amazing though. I dont mind QTE's, but I hope the entire game isn't that scripted.

No offense meant to the author but this is the less helpful video that ever was :p
I expected he would then proceed to traverse the map from one "end" to another, because without something like that you get no idea what "size" is.

"size" in open world games is mostly about the relative scale of your character and how easily/fast he can move through space.

(which is why most "size" comparisons based on maps usually endup meaning nothing, but here simply showing a map outside of any context doesn't tell us anything).

I'm imagining something like Man-Bat's appearances in Arkham Knight.

Where you're just randomly swinging along when all of a sudden something breaks the web and Kraven shows up.

People have dumb expectations and want full control to stop a falling crane and a crashing helicopter in a way that looks just as cinematic as the QTEs

I actually prefer no interaction at all in these scenes like the crane, I want to enjoy fully the spectacle without having to focus on certain parts of the screen to time a QTE prompt.

Its not a major issue per se, but I really would prefer enjoying that scene in 1 fluid take with no interruptions in case I miss a prompt and having to start all over again.

Agreed, I'd rather sit back and enjoy the show than wait for a button prompt to appear on the screen. Either that or make it more challenging than simply pressing a button, like some of the other QTEs in the demo.

That's totally fine, but there are some people complaining about the game being "scripted" not realizing the only alternative is watching a cutscene

Wouldnt say no to an option that lets me choose to just watch these cutscenes without having to press buttons. That way everyone is happy. :)

In my opinion, even one QTE is too much. If I wanted to press buttons while watching a movie, I would just pop the Spiderman movie into my PS4 and press buttons. I counted 13 QTEs in just an 8 minute demo. That's more than 1 QTE for every minute of gameplay.

This is a mission, certainly in the line with the main quest. Don't forget, the game is an open world. You are making rules with some exceptions, this is not the good method to reach the truth of something.

And what would have you prefered instead of QTE ? An annoying cinematic for watching? Because it is really about it.

People are seriosuly counting QTE's now? That is something I never expected.

Wait, so Peter Parker in this game ISN'T a photographer working for the Daily Bugle!? So much for nostalgia. :

LOL spiderman got so much better when JJJ became mayor and then moved onto cable TV. Also Spider-Man worked for a real cool tech company and got a private lab he used to build some real cool shit (including a suit specifically designed to take down each individual member of the Sinister six)

He's still the same guy with the same quips and awful luck, but they've made some strides with his character and world! I highly recommend everything post-reboot: dan slott is my celebrity crush

Can someone explain to me what "eating crow" means?

eating-crow6fsu6.jpg

It's some kind of word play with crowd?
Eating crow is a colloquial idiom, used in English-speaking countries that means humiliation by admitting having been proven wrong after taking a strong position. Crow is presumably foul-tasting in the same way that being proven wrong might be emotionally hard to swallow.

Over-used term that constantly gets regurgitated on this forum with maddening regularity almost every time someone wants to feel smug about themselves in comparison to other people who made mild predictions about certain subjects a great deal of time ago, as well as utilizing it as a means to put them down and deride them.

"You guys didn't think Ant-Man might not review well? Eat crow!"

No-one cares, kiddo. No-one cares.

Speaking of smug. lol.

So in the IGN interview the director was basically saying that this game will release when it's ready, that's why they didn't want to give a firm date in 2018. I really hope it's early 2018, but I do want them to do this right more than anything else so I can wait.

Loved the demo, I wonder what people would rather have though:

Non intractable cut scene watching the crane and what not falling down and spider-man wrapping it up. Or having the crane falling with minimal movement and qte's. I don't think there is a decent way to do a scene(s) that dynamic without either jank controls, or just watching it sadly.
I'd go with the minimal interactivity + QTE. It imo already improves a qte a lot if the button press corresponds directly with characters action, but the way the circle highlights when you have to press the button makes it feel more like a rythm game. Hope they make some changes to that before release.

To just served it indiscriminately to people who showed the slightest bit of apprehension is too much, yes. But sometimes people can get really obnoxious like "nobody cares about Ant-man so the movie will bomb harder than Catwoman" and I can see how digging that kind of posts up would feel cathartic.

They already said that qtes are only there for big set piece moments in story missions.

And they also let you know what button to press ahead of time unlike what old god of war games did; the button promp appears and you have half a second to press it or you fail. You basically had to memorise the order of qtes by failing it a bunch of times.

This isnt gonna be annoying like that

The Batman Arkham games sell around 4-5m units on 3 platforms, iirc.

Somehow I feel this spidery game can beat those numbers on a single platform. It's look really good graphically and has all the good set pieces in place for the cinematic experience.

I think it rings a little hollow to say that there are only two alternatives; cutscene or QTE.
Its not like this is a faithful recreation of historical events - the alternatives could be absolutely anything.
