Friday the 13th: The Game |OT| You and your friends are dead. GAME OVER

Before we answer that, couple questions for you:

1) What platform are you playing on?
2) Do you have friends that already play either game?
3) Have you looked at videos for both to see the difference in gameplay between both games?

Personally I prefer F13 a little bit more that DBD but it really depends on the answers to the above questions.

1) Ps4
2) just the one who plays F13th. though I don't mind using lfg sites or something similar.
3) F13th looks more my style and I love Jason! DBD looks good but I wasn't too sure about the lack of variety on how to win( just repair generators I believe?)

Im somewhat surprised the game hasnt gotten old for me yet after 36 hours. Looking forward to one day killing Jason too

In the DbD vs. F13 wars, one must decide if they value vocal interaction with your fellows. I don't. I don't care to hear what they say, their attempts at humor, their soundboards, their Twitch personailities, etc... DbD does have less goal variety, but more level variety and I like the different killers.

I'm a huge Jason fan and own both games on PC. I just bought DbD on PS4, and will likely buy F13 on PS4 at some point, too. Both fun games, but I've had such dogshit times trying for decent performance in both games on PC that I've found the console version of DbD much more to my liking. Runs like a dream on the Pro, as I'd assume F13 does as well.

tell me about it though I've been lucky tbh. I was playing the last game as jason and some guy kept shouting homophobic slurs at me. Felt good when I got him and simply told him goodbye to which he replied with another slur. Post game, same guy was ranting that "this jason was a F*****" and shit like that. I've had other games similar to that experience.

I've had literally the exact same experience.

Unfortunately, this game is full of shitheads and morons. That's why I never try quickplay, and only do it with friends or groups that have some basic sense of decency and aren't complete idiots.

Speaking of morons, nothing can ruin this game more than absolute dumbasses who scream important things out next to Jason. "Oh, they're leaving on the boat/car, wait for me!" or "Oh, someone's got the gas/battery, take it to the car" while being chased by Jason has gotten me killed probably more times that being killed by my own mistakes. It's like no one grasps the basic concept he CAN FUCKING HEAR YOU. The worst is when you call them out on it and they'll say "Oh, he would have just found you anyways, it's not my fault"... Stupidity at it's finest.

On the flip side, I've killed countless people as Jason because of morons like this so I guess it balances out... sort of....not really =\

The funniest/worst example of this are the younger players in QP that talk constantly over the mic - about what items they have (including pocket knives), firecrackers, gas, etc. Had one this afternoon that gave up the whole plan to go to the boat to the Jason player who was just waiting patiently for it. It was hilarious. Couldn't get upset by it because it was just funny.

A lot of new folks bought it this weekend and aren't on mic which lead to a couple games today where I had 3 counselors following me into every cabin. What is the point of that?

Still, even in QP I have a lot of fun playing this. Though I am shocked by the number of younger players and the use of various slurs.

Do you think I should get the game in about a month from now? Or is it good enough to get right now?

If you are going to be playing with GAF or friends then yes it's great. If you will be going solo I'm still getting connection lost issues in quick play. So you may want to wait until those get resolved. The bugs and stuff during the game aren't to bad and don't really ruin the game play imo.

Which game would people recommend, this or dead by daylight?

I have F13 on the X1 and I bought Dead by Dealight a few days ago on my PS4 Pro and even with all the technical issues F13 is still the game I have way more fun with. DBD is fun, but the tension in it doesn't compare to F13 and seeing Jason and hearing the music and then your screen going fuzzy. Also I get the developers didn't want voice chat in DBD, but it kind of kills the teamwork aspect and makes the game feel like you're playing against AI. If you use LFG you can quickly join good games with people on F13. I'm going to spend more time with DBD, but I don't think I'll like it more than F13 even though I am enjoying it...

In the weeks since I started playing the game, I've noted particularly good people to play with, so I can invite them to matches in the future. Have also wrote down a few names of players who intentionally glitch and teamkill etc. Going to start noting the username of every single person who does this in the future.

This morning I got to play as Jason. YAY! Oh but wait... some dumb as fuck, bottom tier of humanity piece of shit (who also happened to be the host) decides to do the roof glitch so that I can't get him.
I noticed this with about 15 minutes left in the game, when suddenly someone attempted to shoot me with the shotgun and missed, then I realised he was on the roof and that's why the lodge was permanently lit up. Killed the others rather than waste time trying to get him with knives (he was actively zigzagging to avoid being hit anytime I was in the vicinity).

After the match ended, I heard him speak into his mic for the first time and say "Why are you so butthurt bro" to another player who left the lobby right after. He sounded like a fucking moron when he said this, as you would expect.
It blows my mind that these people consider it worthwhile to waste everyone else's time, make the game tedious for the other players, all in the name of "surviving".
It's basically an admission that they are shit at the game and this is the only way they can "win". It says a lot about their character, or lack thereof.

Occasionally, there can be one who is somewhat amusing (this guy last week when I was Jason, standing up on this rock I couldn't reach and kept saying "It's over Anakin, I have the high ground", he then proceeded to get team killed in the next few matches which was hilarious) and I find it more forgivable when they are funny or entertaining in some way, but fuck the average person who does this shit.

A similarly pathetic encounter I had the other day, was playing as Jason and encountered a wounded AJ outside of the barn. This guy started whining about how he had stepped in a trap another counsellor set, and pleading with me not to kill him.
I thought he was saying it jokingly, I grabbed him and he left just as the kill animation started (or before, can't remember) on some "poor me" shit and I was dumbstruck that he was actually that much of a self pitying little cunt. I still have a lot of fun with this game, but man some of the people who play it seem like such pitiful human beings, though thankfully that appears to be the minority, for me at least.

This one guy actually amused me with how borderline sociopathic his behaviour was in a match over the weekend. Playing in an Australian lobby which is always good as my ping is pretty bad otherwise, and this guy early in the match is in the same house with me. He sounds pretty chill/friendly and nonchalantly points out the gas tank for me. What a helpful gent!

Later in the match, he and I are the only counsellors left and he's way over the other side of the map. I catch up with him and he's like "How's it going brother" etc when we are in close proximity again. The Jason gets closer and he's this high af sounding American guy, suddenly the other counsellor starts attacking me, then talking to the Jason on the mic about where I'm headed etc. I run into a house and set a trap at the barricaded door. He jumps in through the window and undoes what I've done with the trap and barricade, the Jason comes in but he sucks to the point that I find it hilarious, and the fact he sounds so radically different in terms of personality and voice etc to the guy who is helping him also made it hysterical to me because it just made for this weird bumbling odd couple kind of dynamic between them. The guy who was Jason actually sounded really chill and friendly, when I escaped his grab he started to give me props.

I got to be Jason the next round, and eventually tracked them both down in the same house, they jumped out the window not aware I was right there even though I wasn't using stalk. Killed them both and laughed heartily to myself. I found this particular encounter more humorous than irritating, mostly because of their sheer ineptitude.

I was Jason earlier and the last four councilors were taking off in the car. I had used all my tricks up and was right in front of them. I had them right where I wanted them but dude driving was awesome with the car and juked me right out of my boots. I love this game

They have GOT to do something about how the car handles. Jeez.

Anywho how do I track down the Neogaf F13 group on PS4? I've double dipped to have it on both PC and PS4.

Glitchers are going to ruin this game. What is the fucking point in making everyone watch you sit in some unreachable spot for 20 minutes?

One of the few reasons I'm happy friendly fire is in this game. It's almost a more captivating game to kill glitchers at this point.

That and people using tactics that shouldn't be in the game like blocking the only entry point with a vehicle. Then sitting in the house for the next 13 minutes.

Managed to get one match in this weekend. Wasn't a full match, nobody used mics, and whoever got to be Tommy Jarvis used their one shot to kill me when Jason grabbed me.

Luckily Jason was the host, so they got him in the end.

Game still needs a lot of work, but it can be pretty fun.

That's..... brilliant. Terrible yes, but brilliant.

I would have never thought to do that.

Quick fix would be to make it so Jason can shift through cars. Jason should actually be able to shift through most things because it would really help with some of the people who just run around large objects

But then that would negate the ability to Shift into the front/back of cars and smash them.

Ok, make it so Jason can shift through stationary cars

Too many variables to make that work.

Scenario: So i'm driving the car backwards since Jason's ahead of me. I get his Shift notification so I stop the car and get ready to put it in drive. Well now since i'm stationary, he's going to shift through the car and behind me allowing me a now clean getaway.

Allow Shift through an unoccupied car. If someone's in it, pull them out. What they'll probably end up doing is restricting cars from blocking single door cabins by adding indestructible and immovable map geometry, like a rock or post, in front.

If I had my way, at least, Jasons 2 & 3 would be able to enter windows slowly, too. In the long run, I think they'll need to create new ways to play the counselors and Jason by adding more mobility options. Differentiating between Jasons with more than just stats and the abiliity to run would allow more variation quickly, just as would further differentiating counselors by ability rather than just stats, like vaulting fences and railings to a dedicated grab dodge. Of course, it remains to be seen if this team can even manage getting the game past its currently buggy, exploitable, and limited-content state.

Thanks to the Double XP weekend, I've unlocked the Jason Goes to Hell version plus unlocking his unique kills.

Guess I'm done with the game for now until the devs start fixing it up and adding something significant.

I've had a fine time with the game so far, but yesterday was the first instance that reminded me why I don't typically use game chat anymore and instead always opt for party chat with friends. What sounded like a very angsty teen constantly belittled others, made racist comments, and shouted homophobic slurs. Also threatened to boot me from the match/leave if I killed him as Jason first.

Also was one of those people who get very upset when you melee as Jason because he has a pocket knife that he'd like to use.

All they need to do is add a side door to barn and fencing to single door cabins to prevent the car from blocking. No need to change how the game works.

As for glitchers, I had a kid get up on the Packanack big house roof. Another counselor was trying to help me get him so I let him live while I hunterld the rest of the counselors I came back to check and he had given up because he couldn't get to the glitchers. He asked me to kill him because he didn't want to play with a glitchers. I just said want can you do he's a dumb kid, then kill him. Moments later the glitcher comes down and apologizes for glitching then asks me to kill him as well, so I do. It was nice that the kid felt bad about glitching. Hopefully they remove those last troubled spots soon.

The solution here would be that Jasons need to learn to time when they come out of shift instead of simply depending on shift-ramming people

It just sucks to lose the unique buildings by adding back doors you ruin them. Plus those locations are great for cornering counselors.

I kinda wish they allowed for breakable walls for jason to cut through at least from the outside, not just inside buildings. Block an entry? Then Jason can just bust through a wall.

But I think easiest fix is allowing Jason to shift through an unoccupied vehicle, since an empty car now does nothing for Jason. This doesn't fix things though if the door is closed behind the car though.

Mostly ply the PC version but ended up also getting the PS4 version.

Wow. The connection issues and cheaters right off the bat is a stark contrast to the PC version in my experience.

Not to mention the near lack of mic users.

Anyways i requested addition to the gaf community there.

If you come across someone with the username FalseVEIL, feel free to shoot him in the face.

Spectated him running around killing other counsellors two matches in a row, then picking up their dropped items like the wretched parasitic motherfucker he is... I felt legit uncomfortable watching this piece of shit methodically run around attacking others and taking their shit the second they died. Left before the next match started - really wanted to shoot him, even if the penalty was 10000xp and you retroactively levelled down I'd still do it in this case.

Oh well, this game is so much fun regardless of the occasional mean spirited idiot trying to ruin it for others.

I actually quite like the teamkilling aspect of the game. Adds another level to the meta. Yeah, when they're working in cahoots with Jason it can be a drag, but the added tension of having to keep an eye on a loose cannon within your 'team' can be fun.

Had an amusing game last night. A group had assembled all of the parts for the car and left them all lying by it. I'd heard on the radio that they were getting ready to go in the blue car (4 seat) so I beelined towards it, hoping for a lift.

When I got there, everyone else had scattered, leaving the gas, keys etc on the ground. So, I got everything fixed, got in and drove off hearing their howls of frustration over chat.

Dick move? Certainly. But while playing that character, it's precisely what I would do. Twas delicious.

I helped them out in the next round, keeping Jason busy while others made their getaway.

Anybody have any idea which version of the game has the biggest community? I want it on PC but if the PS4 version is getting more action then I'd rather go that direction.

Is there any point to closing windows? Impact on sense detection or something?
If the Jason player isn't using Sense, it could give the impression that no one is in a building. I don't think it affects the ability one bit, though.

Steam has ~200k and the game has been at or near the top of the PSN and XBL digital sales chart since release. For size of active playerbase, you can't go wrong no matter the platform.

I had Dead by Daylight on OC but never even touched it. I rebought it on PS4 to play with friends but I'm wondering if Friday the 13th would've been a better option for us.

From what I understand DBD has more content, plays better while Friday has a lot of jank but it has fan service, better atmosphere and tension. Am I correct there ?

Also is Friday 60FPS or 30FPS on consoles ?

I'm playing both. Trust me, PC is the way to go.
Even if I have friends elsewhere?
