Amazon FR is cancelling some orders.
Apparently 1500 copies for the whole country, not just amazon.

the most hilarious thing is that they (amazon.fr) don't ship internationally.

now imaging every single person in the planet thinking:

"damn! I want that european version. what site ships internationally? oh I hear the german amazon does that, awesome. I'll be the only one in Papua New Guinea that owns this version"

I give it no more than 5 minutes, tops, for preorder availabilty at amazon.de, never to come back

with that being said, I have to wonder, Majoras Mask limited edition (which is a more powerful IP than metroid) was massively overstocked and took forever to sell. I just wish this is the case here.

5 minutes? More like 1...

on fnac.com it only lasted 2 minutes

I do kinda feel that limited editions should be limited, otherwise they lose some of their cachet. I would say that though because I got a pre-order yesterday.

Just got this from amazon.fr :

'Metroid Samus Returns - Edition Héritage'

Nous sommes au regret de vous informer que nous avons dû annuler cet article de votre commande en raison d'une forte demande. Nous ne sommes actuellement pas en mesure de vous indiquer si cet article sera remis en vente prochainement.

Translation : "sorry, we had to cancel your preorder because the demand was too high. Nintendo says fuck you. Have a nice day."

I mean while I understand that thought, I still think they should be availabe in larger quantities. 1,5k for a country is... yeah let's leave it at that.

There is limited and limited. I mean 1k5 units seems way to low for one country.
For me it's hard to understand these choices because I'm sure 10k units would have sell the same (for this game anyway)

But it's not a Limited Edition, it's a Legacy Edition. Apart from that, I never felt better, because I got something others didn't get. I prefer that everyone can get everything, I mean I want this because of the Steelbook, not because it's rare.

I mostly want this for the Keychain and the Artbook.
I don't even have a 3DS (yet).. probably will get one just for this game.. I guess.

Personally, I like to collect rare items, so from a purely selfish point of view, if I have it, the rarer it is, the better. I do hope everyone on here who wants one gets one though.

Me too. Especially the soundtrack and artbook.
(Also wtf is your avatar...)

Crazy Toon Link or something else.

Looks like a bastardized Link.

Nintendo do occasionally release special editions that suggest they will be highly sought after and desirable for many years. That Fire Emblem Fates one where it was the only way to get the third campaign on cart is another example.

I imagine that is going to be highly valuable in some years, simply because of having all campaigns on one cartridge. It was also the reason I bought it in the first place (didn't even thought it would be THAT hard to get afterwards), even though I disliked Nintendos strategy here but I just needed all in one physically.

I buy Nintendo games physically as the price discrepancy with digital is just too large. I'm a Channel Islands resident so tied to the UK store which immediately makes things 20% more expensive due to VAT. Given that UK digital is often a lot higher than retail it means I end up juggling cartridges, even on the handhelds rather than pay up to 40-50% more on average for digital.

So when something like FE: Fates has everything on one cartridge it makes things even more frustrating when they run it at such limited quantities. Admittedly the way they handled it with DLC made it simpler for that title, but that all came about after the fact.

So preorders went up on Micromania.fr (Gamestop's chain in France), and it was out of stock in less than two minutes. They tell me it was restricted to one per customer.

I'm about to give up, it's just baffling at this point.

Let's hope it's like Fire Emblem Echoes LE: there were multiple pre-order waves and it's still available for RSP now.

Has anyone been able to order from their regional Nintendo online store? Just received emails to say miitopia and pikmin are now both available to pre order, wondering if they might send out emails for metroid also? This is the UK store and I'm signed up to their newsletter if that helps, not sure I've seen them do this before for any games but I could be mistaken

On the Nintendo Store site, you're able to register your interest in the release and would receommend doing that.

It also did this for the SNES Mini and although I'm signed up for newsletters etc., I didn't receive an email about it but people I know who had registered their interest did. I'm not going to repeat this mistake.
