Weird, just witnessed 3 women walking down the street together. Most likely confirmation WB will be announcing GCS.

Shazam confirmed for filming early next year

Confirmed by THR

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/shazam-is-next-dc-movie-shoot-1022821

Shazam!, the story about a crippled boy-turned-Earth's mightiest mortal, looks to be the next DC Cinematic Universe movie that will go before cameras, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.

David Sandberg, the filmmaker behind upcoming Annabelle: Creation, is directing the feature project that hails from Warner Bros.’s sister division, New Line. The project is looking to go before cameras in January or February 2018 with a likely release in 2019, according to sources.

Hah, assuming you quoted the article directly- which I have no reason to doubt- they originally wrote that Billy was crippled and have since changed the article. I'm curious who the writer was thinking of. Captain Marvel, Jr; Flashpoint's Captain Thunder; or Millar's Superior. It's a little odd that it appears so often with this sort of character.

If the rationale behind The Rock not being in Shazam is due to not wanting 2 big origin stories in one film then I'm okay with that

but it's hard not to imagine The Rock being arrogant and wanting more screentime that a solo movie could give

What are they always looking at?

They're looking at Superman performing heroic acts and smiling.

It's kinda stupid though... their origin stories are super closely tied together. If anything, you do both because the wizard can say "this is what went wrong the last time we gave these powers..."

Only sounds thinking behind saving Black Adam, beyond the business decision to have a spin-off, is avoiding the cliche of the villain being the bad version of the hero.

Done properly, it'd be set up more like Billy is a good version of Adam. Show their lives in parallel, cutting back and forth, until Billy makes the decision Adam didn't and stays good.

Sounds so stupid... sounds like typical WB... these are the people that gave us SS before Wonder Woman and Batman...

Agreed. It really doesn't seem like there is a road map anymore to this whole thing and it will just be a guessing game of whatever can get off the ground the quickest will be the next film up.

So, I guess with this news, I'm sure they'll announce whoever they've cast on Saturday. You don't plan to start filming in January without having people already locked up. Does that random Channing Tatum follow from last summer finally prove true?

Didn't really think The Rock was the breaking point for some
Of y'all. And how is there no roadmap? Batman and The Flash were pushed back because of issues, but Shazam is on schedule for its previously announced 2019 release and you're actually complaining?! Lol

Thank you for being the sane one.

This is neither here nor there, but last night I had a dream where I was watching the Batman movie and it was a cross between Jacob's Ladder and Brazil. It was just really weird.

Shazam without The Rock before The Batman, Flash, and a Superman sequel is absolutely mind boggling if it happens.

It's kind of... a strange situation

Since it's not WB exactly, though New Line is a child company of WB but it's a diff set of resources and executives... even though this movie is connected to DCEU as a whole

Think of it like spider-man homecoming. It's in the MCU but from Sony not Marvel.

Error

Jealous of the Glory that is Johnny Depp
The Rock is big enough to headline his own movie and having him and Shazam in the same movie would almost certainly make Black Adam overshadow Billy.

Pushed back, but for absurd reasons (The Flash). Let's be honest here... they were pushed back because they decided to shift directions entirely.

But before even that, Flash had trouble keeping a director, it wasn't until the 2nd one (who signed on and was even talking about it) dropped out that they decided to completely do a page one rewrite. They signed him and then came to the conclusion there were creative differences months later.

I can't be the only one thinking it's real foolish for them to be dropping these films without building up their core Justice League members. There should be a sense or reason for these...now that SS has dropped, was there a reason why it was released in that time frame? Their focus should be on the Trinity, then the League, then these side characters.

And no, it wasn't the Rock that was the breaking point (he's probably not even in this if the rumors are true, even dumber...). I would've had the same reaction if SS2 or Gotham City Sirens hit first too.

A movie is on schedule while the other two are not on schedule for similar reasons. Simple as that. The trio have already shown up, the JL will show up later this year. It's a free for all after that. And with the potential Shazam has, WB would be STUPID to mess that up.

I don't see a lot of potential without The Rock to be honest. It's a harder sell on Shazam without him since I don't see him occupying the mind share that even Green Lantern and Flash would command.

Honestly, it felt like the only reason Shazam was being considered is due to The Rock being cast as Black Adam. If he's not even it like current rumors suggest, I don't know how this managed to leap frog just about every other project on the books.
