Greg Monroe. Borderline all star. You have the best takes

Over his career in the NBA Greg Monroe averages 14.1/8.7/2.3 a game

Last season the list of NBA players that averaged more then or equal to 14/8.7/2 was Westbrook, Davis, Cousins, Towns, Giannis, Jokic and Vucevic.

Monroe while somewhat of a defensive liability is an incredibly talented player and would be a good fit at C for the cavs in place of love.

Edit: accidentially used career numbers over last seasons numbers. Either way the point still feels valid.

Edit 2: just plugged in Monroe's per 36 numbers from last season (18/10/3) the list of players includes 6 people. Westbrook, Embiid, Cousins, Jokic and Vucevic.

Anthony Davis is more valuable than kyrie
Absolutely is. Love some Kyrie but AD is the game of basketball made flesh with bad eyebrows. I just hope he has a healthy career as the last couple of years have been kinda in and out, iirc.

Lmfao in what world?!?!?!?!

Fantasy land. We'll get to see lots of ideas like that. My Heat friends are hoping for something like Goran + TJ + Winslow for him. Prob not, but people can dream. Have visions, even.

Anthony Davis for Kyrie, good one. I'm the #1 Kyrie fan around and I even recognize that's a bad deal for New Orleans.

Zach Lowe floated the idea of pairing AD and Kyrie, perhaps in a Kyrie for Boogie trade. That one makes more sense, at least from the New Orleans side of the ledger.

You say Lakers fans are delusional my friend?

For one, your stats are wrong.

Secondly, Greg Monroe guy who can only play C, is a horrible defender, can't protect the rim, and can't stretch the floor. He is a decent scorer around the basket but that's about it. The Bucks have regretted signing him almost immediately, shopped him all season and had no takers, and were hoping to god he would opt out of the last year of his contract (spoiler:he didn't, because he knows his value is shit). Stop acting like he's an asset.

Edit: saw your edit. If anything it further invalidates your point. Despite being only 26 years old Monroe's stats decreased across the board, his minutes were way down and he lost his starting spot. Why do you think that is? Why the fuck are we arguing about Greg Monroe? Your basketball takes are terrible.

Greg Monroe couldn't start on a bucks team that had literally 0 good bigs

Greg Monroe cannot play in the modern NBA, he mightve been borderline all-star in the 80's

Mitch and Jim Buss were gonna sign that guy if he took the money.

Luckily, he didn't take the money.

Teams trade away more talented players all the time *shrug*

Teams don't trade Anthony Davis. They don't trade Kobe. They don't trade MJ, Hakeem, LeBron, etc. Players like Giannis and KAT is super good but probably not *quite* on that "don't ever call" list just yet but will likely be soon.

Simply put: some players are for all intents and purposes untradeable. I would think you only pick up the phone to entertain a trade if one of the other players on that very short list of elites is being dangled and are at a similar stage of their careers.

The only person on Nola's starting front court that would ever move by way of trade to another team would be Boogie. AD is there as long as he wants to be there, assuming good health.

I'd trade Love and Kyrie to New orleans if it meant AD and I wouldn't even think twice

I'd send them both AND try to upsell LeBron on how much he'd enjoy 24-7 Jazz access to make that deal work.

Okay not really but AD is objectively the future. Anything they could ask for within reason would be theirs if they for some ungodly reason decided to move him.

Monroe can't move, defensively, at all

Did a 2nd edit. Monroe had > 18/10/3 per 36 last season. Thats pretty good.

Besides the Cavs don't need a starter at C, they will likely play small all year. Monroe gives them an interesting piece off the bench and a big body should they be forced to bang with San Antonio or OKC.

As for trade value. Monroe is now an expiring contract and Cleveland is looking to dump money. Monroe as a player doesn't have much value but a 16M expiring contract does to a team that is deep into the tax.

Playing the Parker/Attacking PG role in Pop's system is probably the perfect fit for him-- plus Danny(if they keep him) and Kawhi would better mask his deficiencies on D. SA is the only move if he ever wants a chance at beating GSW and winning a ship.

The Knicks would make him the biggest star, but the 6th seed and a first round loss every year in the awful East ain't winning. Knicks vs. Cavs on Christmas would be fun, though.

Personally I'd just go to Miami and live like God for the next half decade tax free. No one is beating the Warriors anyway. Riles will at least keep them halfway competitive.

Spurs got the title next year.

How come?

Because Melo is older than LeBron and doesn't help the future. We'd still be empty at PG and no Derrick Rose is not a solution there lol. I guess if the next move were to move Love for a point? Or move LBJ to point? Idunno, fam.

All this would be much more interesting if he had declared his preference a couple of weeks ago when teams were looking for something decent for PG, CP3, Butler.

Very unfortuante timing.

This is so fucking weird. Does Kyrie remember what happened when he was leading the team without LeBron?

NBA jumped the shark this offseason.

We're definitely in Vince McMahon territory here. And no, no Cavs fans forgot the Irving + Waiters time while trying to make Anthony Bennett work.

Darkest timeline.

Guarantee I'm going to screw up this post? Yeah.
He was 21 then. Plus I don't think as a roster that his team was very good.

Kyrie+ KP can be a great building block for the future.

Have you seen him when LeBron is out of the game and he tries to run the offense? It's garbage.

Bron would have to waive his no-trade clause.
Are we sure he wouldn't waive it to help his hometown team?

I just wonder if Kyrie wants to leave if he knows he can be top dog in Cleveland. You're already lucky to get anything at all when Lebron leaves, so this gives you cover to unload him rather than get nothing at all. Plus you're showing Kyrie your commitment to him.

I mean, would Lebron go to NY? Philly? Boston?!

I'm just playing with trades here but if you're Boston, do you trade Tatum and the Brooklyn pick for Lebron? Does Isaiah, Lebron, Betrayward and Horford fare better than against the Dubs than Cleveland did last year?

I rambling. I need to go ly dow

Using per 36 numbers for a guy who is a vet, in his prime, and whose minutes are steadily decreasing because he's simply not that good, is an incredibly silly and misinformed way to analyze players.

So now he's a salary dump again? Which is if? Or are you just switching back and forth however it suits your narrative and supports your trash ass trade proposal?

Someone on here really said "if we can get AD for Kyrie we would make the best out of a situation"

Make the best out of a situation? that my friend is more like a date rape drug situation.

PG for the Cavs doesn't need to be a ballhandler since they have Lebron mostly running the offense. That means you can place almost any wing next to Lebron.
