Could you dual wield a bat with a knife? I barely played with weapons in Yakuza except for Majima's bat. I wanted to solve things with my fists.

I kinda wanna see a setup for Murder Island GB vs Waypoint, those guys still keep running away from everything, learning nothing. Giant Bomb would body them.

So should I watch this last BitE clean up episode or does Dan ruin it my poo pooing on Yakuza the whole time?

He doesn't do so much shittalking but you can tell he doesn't give a shit and wants to get out of there. Just a lot of passive-aggressive comments and looks with Vinny and Alex just trying to sort of buffer him. Most of it is them watching youtube videos. I'd just kind of scrub through it to see if anything catches your eye but it wasn't great.

It's more that GBWest are crying out for a new, fresh feature and they are spending that content creation time playing a game that long-term members of the site have seen 60+ videos of already.

And it was done with zero effort, it was just two guys playing Dota like they were randoms on Twitch. Ben didn't explain anything. He didnt even introduce what they were doing.

If you want to defend it fine, but it was utter dogshit.

It's not about "play MY game" whining, the game they chose was secondary to why that thing sucked but inevitable because Brad never seems like he is having fun playing Dota anyway.

Also no-one is asking them to play games they aren't interested in.

If Dota is the only video game that can motivate Brad and Ben to make new features then Giant Bomb have a serious problem.

Look, I've already said I liked the feature and explained why. I'm not saying it's not worth criticism or that it's going to be for everybody. But if you want things to get better, just calling something "utter dogshit" or saying, "ugh, dota again" is completely unhelpful.

I genuinely believe Dota 2 is probably one of the 10 best video games ever made. Not being facetious at all. Why wouldn't I want to watch two personalities that I enjoy play it in a way that lines up with my own experience pretty well? I am not saying I'm typical at all, and again, not saying that everyone should like this feature. Just explaining that there are people out there who do actually want to watch this, despite people in this thread saying "literally no one wants this"

The game constantly changes and evolves. The last time they actually covered it as a game and not an Anime-Infused Gambling Experience was like a year ago. Millions of people play it on a monthly basis. Certainly more than play PUBG. It's worth covering.

And I don't think the amount of time they've spent on it over the years has anything to do with this argument. I think it's purely about the visceral hate people have for that game and games like it. When P4G came out people were asking them do another Endurance Run of it, even though the base game had been covered to death.

Regarding the bolded part of your post, you must not be reading the same thread as me

I haven't watched a single second of the Beast in the East feature, but I find the reactions from today's supplemental video pretty funny. I mean, can you imagine the worst part of your job being watching YouTube videos with a couple of your buds for two hours on a Friday?

Because Dan asking "Who's X" 5 times per episode isn't funny or interesting? The story is half the reason they're playing this, it's nice if they at least try to follow it. Dan made no effort. There's plenty of comedy in the fights and their reactions to the side stories and whatnot. not paying attention to the story (and Dan didn't, at all) is not a selling point imo

He liked when over the top stuff happened in cut scenes and fights, that's about it.

Has Dan ever finished a foreign language game or movie that was all subtitles thru his own volition? There are Americans who refuse to watch any film that's not in English.

Dude couldn't follow a story in a fucking Fast and Furious movie so i doubt that subtitle stuff matters.

Unless its another one of these "works", which is fucking dumb and always will be

That sounds like what does Vinny when they talk about Splatoon.

The only thing wrong with the Dota stream is that Ben hasn't learned to be a good observer yet.
That takes practice. And is surprisingly hard to be good at (especially in coach mode)

Lots of people (Ben included) got into DotA because of those GB streams. It was fun watching Brad learn a new hero. It was fun watching Ben react to his noob mistakes.
I get it wasn't fun for you, and thats cool. But it was one hour out of a busy week.

I too, would like to see lots of fun new features out of west. And I don't think this is anywhere near as cool as stuff GBE has been doing (and i like Dota way more than Mario Sunshine). But a one hour stream of Dota a week hardly deserves this level of vitriol

It's also bad Dota, which is a bit of an issue for a lot of people watching Dota. I haven't played Dota in a while so I haven't seen bad Dota in a while, it takes some getting used to. I do think Brad will get significantly better over the course of this series though. Just being forced to think through his decisions and having them second guessed by a somewhat better player along with actually learning the characters in the game should make it interesting to see his progress.

Oh...it is really bad dota. But Brad has ALWAYS played bad Dota. Crispy and Pascual saved those streams for him. (this isnt a burn, i also play bad Dota). And bad Dota can be very fun to watch.

But to me that really is the point of the feature.

It is basically a Breaking Brad: Dota series

I wish I was sure I'd ever wear that My First E3 shirt, because that's probably my favorite thing GB has done all year and I'd love to support it. That Nobody Wins shirt is definitely a strong gym shirt at the least.

Here's my constructive criticism: Play a different MOBA. Seriously. You'll still get your weird MOBA fix, but you'll also show off games that've been barely covered, if at all, on GB.

Then, if you still have some sort of sick need to talk about DOTA, compare the games after. Talk about things it might've done better than DOTA. Talk about things that it didn't do as well and could probably take some cues from DOTA to improve it. Do this with the countless MOBAs out there. The feature would still get a lot of hate because it's a MOBA feature, but at least you're doing something different.

There're over 60 DOTA videos on GB. Last I checked, League of Legends was still a bigger game than DOTA (Although that might've changed, I haven't checked in a while) but there's literally one LoL video on the site, and that's a QL from 8 years ago with Dave.
