New DCEU slate revealed at Comic Con

Error

Jealous of the Glory that is Johnny Depp
Guys they are not going to do a hard reboot, at best they'll recast some roles and make some character act differently like Lex, but that's it.

flashpoint was a huge change in the comics tho

hell the new 52 was birthed out of flashpoint

It's not going to be an exact adaptation.

And there's only a handful of movies rather than 25-50 years (since a fair amount of Pre-Crisis stuff was still canon) worth of comics.

They'll recast a few roles, and bring a couple of characters back to life, but there's not a whole lot for them to change.

We'll get an optimistic and more traditional Superman and a different Batman, Jimmy will be alive, and that will probably be it, barring maybe a few other minor things here and there.

Mess.

Of course they wouldn't make a fucking normal solo Flash movie.

I mean dunno why I'm surprised, this is the universe that put TDK Returns, Death of Superman/Doomsday, Trinity and then some in the second movie.

Burn this rushed trash to the ground.

This aberration of an universe was singlehandedly killed the very moment these geniouses decided to turn Man of Steel 2 into Batman Destroys Superman: Dawn of Injustice.

What a goddamn mess. No Flashpoint is saving this.
Flashpoint is a Flash story. He's the main character. Civil War despite having a million characters in the comic was a Cap and Iron Man story.

I don't see how they don't bring both of them back if they're really going to do this. It should be a case of them just agreeing to do it since they already played the characters.

Also add me to the list that thinks no way Wonder Woman kills the Shazam kids in this. No way in hell does that get the green light.

I'll go a step farther and say I doubt we'll see Gal or Momoa or any of the main JL cast in it.

I think it'll be more that the villains won. Like Ares and Ocean Master going at it.

Flashpoint is the best possible concept for a solo movie

What do you want, him fighting Captain Cold's lame ass? Watch the show for that

But Captain Cold is Flash's most iconic villain and one of the best comic book villains of all time, so I think lots of people would like to see a Flash movie with Captain Cold as the villain.

I like how Flashpoint is set before WW2 because WW was a big hit critically and financially so it's a character they're for sure gonna want to keep making movies off of. The others can either live or die depending how well they do.

I'm expecting Flashpoint in name only. Barry will fuck the timeline, but anyone thinking this is going to lead to some hard reboot is crazy.

This likely will be the case in the end. There are a number of ways you can do Flashpoint without being a direct adaption. It might actually be better to do that no matter what because of Flashpoint plays out. The Flash TV show did their own version and the honestly should have dragged it out.

The basic theme of Flashpoint has to be followed. Barry runs back in time, saves his mom and as a result fucks up the timeline. Make sure you include Reverse Flash, flips some good and bad guy roles, and have Barry undo it. In fact the Flash TV showed you can keep good guys good. When he returns back to his time after he fixes things there have to be some differences. That's your chance to alter story elements, casting, etc. After this being the core you can pretty much do whatever story you want. No way can be this be a hard reboot I agree. This can only result in a very soft alteration of things. You also don't need this in order to recast actors though. You can do that at any time.

Very telling that there wont be a supes stand alone
They're not going to announce a new Superman movie when to the general public, Superman is still dead. Even though we know he'll be back in Justice League, they're still marketing it as if he's dead and they want it to be a surprise to the casuals. After JL is out, I bet we hear about a MoS sequel.

No more Justice League 2?

I'm going to have to wait until the 2020s to see Darkseid beating down the Justice League aren't I?
Again, they're probably not wanting to reveal movies too far out just yet.

I thought they were making a nightwing movie?
And a Gotham City Sirens movie, which also wasn't on the list... Don't worry, I believe they're both still going forward as both of those actually have announced directors attached to them. Ayer even talked about it yesterday and said we'd seen more at next year's Comic Con. They may just be waiting to see where they fit in the timeline.

What about the Black Adam movie?

Probably hear more about it at 2018 SDCC, like Sirens. If it wasn't announced doesn't necessarily mean it was cancelled.

The rock hinted we would see Adam sooner than we thought like right after their big DC Summit where they announced the Black Adam movie. I imagine at the point he knew he wouldn't be in Shazam. I could see him debuting in MoS2 (still not announced :/) or even WW.

I don`t know about comic, but that animated movie was very good.

Now just imagine cg-skinny Henry Cavill.

I love how comicbook.com managed to write two articles, one about JDM maybe playing Thomas Wayne Batman and one about Lauren Cohan maybe playing Martha Wayne Joker.

Trash site.

A second chance to give us a Superman that's inspiring and not demoralizing, that's driven by kindness and innate goodness instead of fear and paranoia, whose strength isn't his godlike powers but his very human heart.

A second chance to give us a Batman that, yeah, doesn't kill, that isn't driven by angry brutality at the criminal element but rather a powerful desire to spare others the horrors and grief he endured, even among his adversaries.

Or a truly threatening but empathetic Lex Luthor...

Heck, even a Joker that's less a walking embarrassment and a truly incredible incarnation that does the clown prince of crime justice.

There's a LOT wrong with the DCEU, and a single great Wonder Woman film doesn't negate the fact that they can use Flashpoint to remedy a lot of grievances - from both fans and critics. It's a built-in excuse to course-correct and return several characters to their more idealized and beloved incarnations or portrayals.

This is a great post, honestly would rectify a lot of things and leave fans happy.

Personally I like pretty much everything except Lex Luthor and the new Joker. With regards to Batfleck, he's the best they have ever cast imo he just needs the right script and director behind him. That scene in BvS where he wrecks an entire room of thugs was the best Batman action I have ever seen, despite how disjointed the movie was. This is why I think Affleck needs to stay and utilised properly, when he get's older he can pass the torch to a potential Damien Wayne/Dick Grayson.

The same can be said for Cavill Supes, he is avery charismatic individual. He just hasn't had the right direction or situations to portray Supermans humanity.

WB can course correct, but don't fuck it up entirely. They need to understand what they were getting wrong in the first place, hopefully Wonder Woman was a wake up call to that.

wooow. That sounds really cool!

also, wasn't it just two or three days ago on this forum that people were saying DC would never do Flashpoint, at least not this early in the franchise?

Probably? I mean, it's seems like a bit of a rush, but then WB has always been keen to not get bogged down with having to have individual character movies before doing the crossovers.

all he literally had to do was just repeat his Mark Zuckerberg performance. that's all I asked. smh.

he's entertaining to watch in BvS tho, but in a sort of trainwreck way. I do really like that scene on the rooftop though when he's extorting superman.

I just checked.

There is no law the world over that demands you watch any of these films against your will.

What is flashpoint?

Really big crossover event that involved flash changing timelines, which eventually led to the big shakeup and creation of New 52 universe [new paralel dimension where DC relaunched all their comincs few years ago].

DC Animation released animated film, which focused only on flashes adventures. Watch it if you find the time.

Kinda disappointed that, outside of renaming the Flash movie as Flashpoint, they didn't elaborate on any of these other movies that had already been announced months/years ago.
