I don't know, maybe I'm wrong. Still think if you want to serve and you have no physical defects then you should be allowed to no matter what.

There are people serving who are HIV positive, and have to take medication for the rest of their life. There are people serving who are diabetic as well.

Im in the military and we literally had transgender acceptance training last month. They said all types of things like they would pay for the surgery and help with the mental and social transition. My commander went as far as saying hes talked to several members serving now currently going through the process.

The division isn't actually about trans identity acceptance: It's about whether one's personal identity interferes with military service.

I don't think this will cleave along predictable lines. His troglodyte base will love it, but even some conservatives will think "WTF? really?"

I feel like it's a cleave that is easily dodged, which makes it even stranger to me. Gays and trans in the military has been a pretty settled issue for the most part. Whether or not trans people can get their treatments through the military is an issue now, but I don't think a vast majority of people have cared about them actually joining in years.

As far as I can recall, even not "necessary" plastic surgery is covered, so it's not even "essential" procedures only.

This is NOT T-related, but it's all I got: I know that I got special fillings because the colonel who did my teeth thought they'd look better and improve my QOL.

It's not about having the procedure that had the least cost. Oh, and I know tons of people who had PRK or LASIK done.
