August Wrasslin' |OT| I'M NOT FINISHED WITH YOU-LY

Angry Grimace

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
I mean, I don't know why you would even vaguely consider bringing Hogan back in any capacity.

It's not like he even has the Mel Gibson excuse of being drunk and stupid. He just flat out said he is racist and doesn't like black people. Fuck that guy.

Because WWE is run by this man.

Did I tell you guys I'm listening to and rating NPR's 150 Greatest Albums Made by Women?

I guess it's a better project than watching 30+ years of wrestling PPVs. >_>

Yeah as Meltzer said what is the point in bringing him back he can't wrestle again, he is not suited for a general manager type on screen role. He can't be a brand ambassador to go on talk show and do interviews because he will be asked about the racist comments and WWE do not want to be associated with that.

The problem is, WWE still loves side show moments.
Scene:
Hogan comes out, I would say most likely in New Orleans to do a ticket push for Mania.
Crowd pops for a while, he does his thing, talks and RUSEV MATCHKA comes out (and to be honest buries him on the mic because Ru Ru is awesome sauce)
Rusev gets in the ring, down talking Hogan and USA because WWE is very redundant and Hogan bows up and eats a kick from Rusev putting him down.
Here comes Cena or Face of the moment....Cena gets the upper hand, throws Rusev into the big boot and cheers on as Hogan does the leg drop sending the crowd into a frenzy.

That is all they really need.

Hogan comes back out and does a comedy segment with Rock and whoever else is out there.

If you rank Whitney below an A I'm going to riot

I'm doing a 0-10 scale for easier conditional formatting. I'm guessing she won't get 8+. But we'll see.

Man I'm still reeling that they referenced continuity from 19 years ago on Smackdown this week.

That segment was incredible

I would like to know what you're talking about.

The guy holding up the Bischoff sign? Odd choice, but I can see why Vince went for him.

That's Rod McMahon.

I would like to know what you're talking about.

Owens brought up Vince and the Montreal Screwjob to say why he didn't trust a McMahon to not screw a Canadian, then brought up AJ brutalizing Shane to try and convince AJ that Shane might want to screw him over too, Shane then said he's not that kind of McMahon, he doesn't roll that way and then Owens literally rolled footage from Survivor Series 98 when Shane as ref screwed Austin...

It was so good.

Dental Plan and I are friends. He's like a more rugged Scottify.

Thanks for telling me what you were talking about, excelsiorlef. Thanks a lot.

Edit: that was supposed to be biting sarcasm, but I see you've clued me in. It is now genuine.

XD <3

It was also so good because as soon as Shane said he's not that kind of McMahon my mind immediately went to SS 98 and low and behold Owens did this awesome like sarcastic throat clearing laugh and ran the footage. It was a nice nod to long term fans.

I just needed one KO line : "yeah, I was afraid you would say something like that (re: Shane not being a typical McMahon) and came prepared in case you did."

Otherwise in what context was Owens going to use a 19 year old clip he had prepared? It was the only call back that didn't make sense to me.

The original Kinnikuman is underrated.

Yes. Yes it is. Once it stops trying to have Kinnikuman grow huge and fight monsters and making garlic eating and fart jokes it tries being a "tournament" anime. Its like...very soon too. It flipped formats around the first several shows early on after introducing Kerryman as a rival "superhero". After this he enters a tournament that has him see Ramen man fucking kill a dude, turn him to ramen and eat him. He has to both fight him and eventually Kevin Mask who was a destroyer from Britain or some shit. He is built up as a strong bumbling idiot failing to be a hero, but once he enters a wrestling tournament he finds out that for once he has a knack for something and wins over the public as a peoples champion dude who tries to grasp the brass ring and finally come into his own.

After that it explodes. The folks in the ring get more brutal. Blood, death, impaling...all commonplace. Aliens, fate of the world, rings on fire, ridiculous impossible feats of strength and equally impossible powers and moves that use them for grappling. Its just a hugely overblown take on a combination of both pro wrestling and super hero power battles. Its pretty great.

It flips from ridiculous to brutal constantly. You can go from this..

...to this...

..very quickly.

Watch it. You can skip everything and go straight in as soon as you see the tournament with Ramen Man. From there the series goes wild and its gimmick city. Hell theres one heel who was a nazi gimmick or something and his finisher is not just a poison mist but a full on gas chamber breath move. If you ever wanted to see a villain get wrecked that heel was certainly built for the role. When Kinnikuman makes a character gimmick it goes all in...especially on heel roles.

When Kinnikuman is away the dMp will play?

Actually I was randomly pondering just the other day if the Ultimate Muscle series was like some anime only sequel to the original Kinnikuman manga series, I just get the impression it was one of those bring back an old property with a modern twist moments but I really have no idea.
