No Man's Sky 1.3 Update releasing this week (portals, expanded story, and more)

If the update details are true, y'all trying to keep your save games should just shelf them for now and start anew. I know its rough, but, if so, those changes are just too massive.

How difficult is the survival mode? I only played five hours but if I restart, I'd do the survival mode (without permadeath).

oh shit, if that list is real i might try this out again. Was megapumped for it, and when i realized it didn't succeed in any of the aspects i wanted it to (and not at all having a working universe in the vein they were hyping it to be) i dropped it after 50 hours. Didn't give a shit about the base building stuff, since my main want with this game was the exploration and going from planet to planet (which imo, the game failed miserably with pre-patches, iunno how it is now)

This though, oohhh might we get the big o'le snek we always wanted to see?

Fucking dont get me hyped like this again, i just want a space exploration game ;_;

If you really think about it, an update this huge makes sense after the scale of the ARG they made for us.

Adding to that, the time between this and the last feature update (Path Finder back in March) is the longest post-launch period they've had to work on a new update. I know that development isn't quite so stop-start as all that but this new update could be the culmination of a lot of features they've been working on over time.

If there really is a completely revamped central storyline added to the game with this update, I might actually give this game another try. Hope they pull it off.

Looking forward to starting this tomorrow. Having not played since launched, this is going to feel like a whole new game.

I haven't tried it, but from what I hear it ain't no joke.

I did Permadeath. I lasted 3 hours. It was incredible, I learnt a lot. It was also really challenging - I started on a terrible planet for one thing.

In the end I took a risk and got killed by a plant. I wasn't pissed. I was being wreckless.

It's definitely challenging at the beginning. Eventually you will become powerful enough that nothing is a major threat unless you are extremely careless.

Resources are harder to get, enemies do more damage, and your life support/hazard protection drains much more quickly. You also drain 100% plutonium when taking off instead of 25%

Also on the beginning planet, you spawn a good distance away from your ship and not right next to it like in normal mode.

Every "paradise" planet has hostile sentinels.

If you die you lose all your inventory in your backpack when on a planet or in your ship while flying.

Sounds like another huge, substantial update. Joint exploration is what most people will be excited about, but I'm looking forward to the updated UI and terrain generation.

edit: And the story stuff.

I'm with you. Joint (as assumed) exploration is cool, but the other aspects to the update really excite me more.

oh fuck what if they change the ending

If they're doing an overhaul of the central storyline, I don't see how they can't change the ending.

I'm excited to get back into this. Playing in permadeath/survival mode really gave me a different perspective on the game and I enjoyed it a lot. I'm really excited to see a new storyline.

PLEASE multiple biomes on a single planet. That would blow my shit out of the water. I know its not listed, but here's hoping.

Do the portals take you to multiplayer hubs? I doubt it, but I refuse to get sucked into the speculation black hole!!

When is this damn update releasing! Please do it tomorrow, so I can have a serene as fuck weekend diving back into No Man's Sky!

I doubt that, although maybe we could get snowy areas in the mountains.

I'm thinking more like new biomes. Lava planets, swamp planets, etc.
