We're still waiting for Tien to be cool.

And we'll forever be waiting... :(

So we can all agree that 17 is U7's MVP at the moment, right? Right.

He has definitely been the highlight, so far.

It either won't be addressed directly or as a throw away one liner. If you're looking for an in depth lore run down you're going to be disappointed.

Oh, I know. I'm expecting a disappointing explanation.

I hope U6 erases the next universe. Be nice to see their reaction to being the ones who ended a universe.

See what the Namekians are like, or the contrast between saiyans who are supposed to be softer in U6.

We can't really have U7 conveniently be the ones to end a universe everytime, right?

They paused on U6 on that tablet for a good while, maybe those Namekians will be coming sooner than anticipated (and maybe they're "evil" since the U6 Saiyans aren't).

Man. I must be the only one who doesn't think the Tate shot is THAT bad. I mean. It isn't great, but it isn't the worst thing in the world.

I won't lie though, everyone's comments are hilarious

Same, I'll take the occasional ugly shot for his fluid animation.

All of these are bad, except yamamuro

I dunno, Itai's looks pretty good to me.

Loved this

The choreography was really nice there. Reminded me of the Goku vs Krillin episode where he dodged the Kienzans beautifully.

Don't worry. The second strongest human will soon enough.

*whispers* Tien's an alien. (And in terms of aliens, his ranking isn't even close to 2nd.)
I've no doubt he will be joining Krillin soon, though.

Youngjijii's take on Goku in the new form (?) looks dope af. The hype is building.

That's a cool take on it, his art is always quite good.
I'm curious, is his AF as bad as Toyotaro's?

17 is so good as is Gohan. Both my boys putting in work.

Android 17 is kind of the best thing to happen to this show

Look at those QTs.

Sooo my thoughts on the episode :

- Setting up Brianne vs 17 as one of the big fights later down the road, they're pretty much equal as expected

- 17 Getting Goku's lines
heJ6QX.jpg

and Goku getting 17's lines was funny. It also proves my theory that 17 used Kakunsa's fighting style against her and the flying girl, just like Goku used Rozie's against her.

I guess this is reminiscent of when 18 compared 17 and Goku, so that was probably an outline from Toriyama. The difference being that 17 doesn't underestimate his opponents and is serious, while also caring about his teammates. He's basically a better Goku right now.

- Beerus and 17 pointing out Goku is fucking around, at least that means the writers are aware of it, which makes it a tiny bit less insufferable.

- Some recycling of animations here and there, I guess it's par for the course now, I didn't mind it too much outside of the Brianne / 17 sequence that they used almost twice in a row (but the shot looked great).

-----

Then the Gohan part

- Not impressed with Botamo's take out. They seem to have conveniently changed how attacks affect him, back when Goku fought him, the attacks were supposedly sent to another dimension and he wouldn't be phased at all by them.

- Gohan and Piccolo vs U10 part 1: Piccolo being punched in the face made me laugh. Gohan vs Obuni (?) was pretty good. Pretty fluid.

- part 2 : Piccolo using hell grenade felt... kinda lame when Rozie used it in the first half, and 17 made it useless again. It was hard to ignore that when Piccolo used it. Because that's the first thing Piccolo has really done in the tournament so far and that was literally just done by another fighter 5 minutes earlier...

Ultimate Gohan part of the fight was less good than regular Gohan somehow, but I was a bit let down by the outcome. I expected Gohan to see the pendant before taking out Obuni, to show some moral conflict. Here he just took him out, looked displeased for 3 seconds and end of the episode.

I blame the previews that made it sound like it would be a bit more than this.

All in all, decent episode with some production flaws, but mostly saved by the writing and some visual sequences that stood out.

Loved those 17 shots

"I AM ANDROID 17" ahahah

Only half of it.

Wish they cut some of the first minutes of the episode for more Piccolo and Gohan action.

Why, you needed to see Piccolo punched in the face some more ?

Yeah now that I think of it, most of the bits with non generic choreography from this tournament so far has involved Goku, which isn't surprising. Could be forgetting about some stuff.

Tate's stuff looks great in motion, but horrible when you look at still scenes with few exceptions.

He's even worse in motion.

His style is so unappealing to me. I threw up everytime Arched posted that Vegeta & Goku hyperbolic time chamber gif as good.

The 17 and Goku parts of the episode were really good, better than the gohan piccolo stuff imo. I think you're right with the parallels being drawn between them

Did ribrianne break his barrier, or did he just release it?

Also i think it's too soon to say if 17 and ribrianne are equal it didn't seem like 17 was going 100%

Of all the clips you chose. I loved that scene. You would have a better point using Hit vs. Goku part 2 which had some rough animation and wasn't Tate's best work.

Sorry, when it comes to animation, few are as fluid as Tate. It's like silk.

I was thinking Goku was intentionally copying 17's lines and takeout method for some reason. (Though Goku didn't actually push her all the way out)

The biggest appeal to tates style for me is the exaggerated movements and the fluidity of the animation

We've already had this discussion though haha

Tate should have someone correcting his animation to not look like crap, his fluidity is good, but my Gowasu (RIP), his style is so awful. Piccolo was horrendous this episode, and I don't know if he drew Gohan too but he looked terribaaaaad.

Yeah, that was alright, although the episode somehow felt like filler in spite of the whole "another universe is gone" near the end. That next episode stinger though...that's going to be...a thing, I guess.

Yeah I just wanted to see gohan deal with having to make that choice.

But he just made it then got annoyed for 5 seconds, and end of episode.

Wasn't bad but I just wanted more out of this situation, set bad expectations because of the previews.

Goku whiteknighting for universe 6.
Letting the Saiyans go and then saving Hit in the preview.

He lets everyone else die.

But wouldn't that be Goku being obsessed with U6?

And who is he letting die on his team?

I have more gifs I'm just not trying to bury ya'll. Ruined the whole fight for me.

You can do that with almost any fight. Go back to Dragon Ball or Z and freeze frame some of those fights, especially Vegeta vs. Perfect Cell.

I dont like the art style and i think the animation is good. So imo in talk scenes is not good, in action parts since you cant notice details the scenes are good.

Yeah same but maybe they'll do something more with it in future episodes.

Kale and Caulifla were weak in front of him, that's different than a fighter attacking him and Goku knocking them out because of that. They could also be useful in a later fight.

18 was the one out of character in that instance, more than Goku and 17.

If someone is giving Hit trouble, they're going to give Goku trouble. So what's the harm in helping out the weaker person? He has a friendship with Hit.

Previews have been bad this arc. Goku apparently fought the Yardrat in this episode, based on the previews.

I can do what with any fight

I'm just pointing out what I don't like about tate, I thought that was obvious.

The problem is that you seem to be going out of your way since you're picking and choosing terrible shots to prove a point instead of using an actually bad animated fight like Goku vs. Hit part 2 that has issues.

Even people who hate Tate's work liked Goku vs. 17 and you're one of the few I have seen who disliked it. Which is why I question why you chose that fight in particular to prove your point.

Krillin got KO'd by a universe 6 and Goku will still bat for them.

That was also by Frost, who is a known asshole who is disliked by his own team.

To show you how far my distaste for Tate's style goes.

Didn't you say that you liked that shot? Most people seem to like that shot.

Are you forgetting that this is my opinion? I'm not speaking for anyone else.

Im calling it... Goku will think to just revive U6 with the super dragon balls, but Gohan will suggest reviving them all.

I was pretty neutral to 17 before this arc and now I love him.

I can't wait for this arc to be dubbed. Oh maaaaan.

I'm not sure I'll like him as much with his dub voice, he always came off as an asshole to me.

Frost is so far the only one from U6 who isn't likable by the U7 cast. Everyone hates him because he wants to see the world burn like Frieza. It's clear Frost is doing his own thing, and no matter what the other U6 characters do, Frost isn't a part of that, he's never going to work with them as a team.

Could it be better? Sure. But it got us much needed Kale development so she could stop being a Broly clone, and hopefully we get some more insight on Hit next episode.
The only one who has suffered from Goku being an idiot is Caulifla.

Decent episode. I liked 17 getting "into" the fight with Ribrienne or whatever her name is, kind of felt like he was playing along for the theatrics a bit.

So is Super Saiyan God stronger than Blue?

It's going to be great when Freeza is the one to eliminate him.

Doubtful.

According to everything stated by the show and the manga, blue is stronger

We dont know why he is using red
