Stardew Valley |OT| Resting Under a Harvest Moon [Up: now on PS4]

Just hit summer and upgraded my house, starts to really enjoy the game now, although some days I'm not sure how to best use my time.

Really love the art style and music. Very excited about the prospect of this on my Vita, would be absolutely perfect for it.

For everyone that hasn't touched this gem yet and is waiting for the Switch version: You'll love it.

For anyone who loved the very first Harvest Moon games: You'll love it even more.

Double dipping so hard for this on Switch. This and Animal Crossing, whenever it eventually happens, will make my life complete.

Hopefully touch screen is a go on it. Controller control in the game when I tried is off putting -.-
Controller is the only way I played it on PC, and for 150+ hours. Sometimes item placement was a little finicky, but for everything else, it worked great.

What I really wanted controller wise is a click to move option specially on the PC. This game would control great using only the mouse.

I've had to exercise so much willpower in not buying this game on PS4, knowing full well it's on it's way to Switch soon.

Really enjoying this. Picked it up in the sale. Didn't know how I'd get on with it and even a good while in I was unsure but I'm in the Fall now and I'm addicted. Things are coming along nicely and I like to do a bit of everything to earn my way. I'm just hitting level 80 in the mines now where the enemies are tougher. Think I'll need a better weapon if he's selling any. But at least I can finally mine gold now for those sprinklers. That'll help with the chores. Only have a chicken coop at the mo. My farms very small actually buy it keeps me very busy. One thing I haven't done much of yet is get to know the towns folk much. I help with quests and have give them the odd gift but tbh I'm going to leave this until I'm more settled in. I'm also doing a fair bit for the community centre.

But I loved Harvest Moon on the SNES so this takes me back a little. It's not perfect and has some annoyances but on the whole it's great when it clicks.

I used to be an Animal Crossing guy (never played Harvest Moon), but after playing this I find myself preferring time not being based on real time. It means I can have these long, amazing play sessions where I really get entranced in the game, whereas in AC you tend to run out of meaningful things to do after 45-60 minutes in a day. That approach has some charm, and means you tend to always have something to look forward to in the next day, but it's a little bit too slow and unengaging of a process for me to like it in the same way that I like Stardew Valley.

I also really appreciate the thought being put into making simple stuff like fishing engaging, and of course the inclusion of combat in the mines. I've taken a bit of a break from the game after 60 hours of play, but I'll come back again later for sure.

I tried that.. But it was $11.95 on psn, and it's going to launch at $49.95 on switch. It's just not worth that :(

That sounds more like the price of a physical collector's edition that comes with the full guidebook rather than the actual price. Even the current collector's editions are only, like, 30 bucks right?

.... guys calm down... I'm Australian.

store stardew for xb1 and ps4 is still $49 AUD.
I assume the Switch version will be the same as that is all...

I also bought it on the sale. My kid thiks it's fantastic and we are having a lot of fun with it.
How did you get to level 80 so fast? We're stuck on level 17 or something like that.

I just tend to do 5 levels or so on and off and gradually worked my way down. I haven't found it hard beyond a few times. Like torches help in the later 30s and a better pick axe come 50/60s as rocks take more hits. You can buy better weapons from the guy next to the cave and along the way you get equipment drops to help you.

Oh and whatever you do, don't die :p
It'll set you back loads in levels, money and you lose items so it's probably best to restart the whole day again if that happens.

Got my last two artifacts on the same day yesterday, halfway through Winter in Year 2.

Was worried it was going to drag on and be one of those things I always have in the back of my mind every time I play so I'm glad it's all done.

Just one last fish to get next time it rains and that's me done with all the collection based stuff.

I managed to miss getting the Lucky Lunch recipe from TV though, so unless I get really lucky with the last couple of re-runs this year i'll need to wait for it in Year 4 :(
