Cascade coming on well. There's a huge cluster 16ft off the ground so going to need a bigger ladder

At least you have good access to great Quebec IPAs! I thought Les Trois Mousquetaires and Vox Populi had great easy to obtain IPAs when I was up there last summer.

LTM are close to me. I've spoken to them a few times and will be going to their August 26th release of their new limited DIPA. That was the best Quebec IPA I've had and my last chance of getting any this year probably. Vox are hit or miss I find. They try a lot of things, though. Learning!

Had two friends over last night while our wives went out for dinner. I grilled some salmon and we drank most gin-barrel aged beers. Nice pre-birthday gathering.

That GGT was stupid good. Wow.

Got to try Stone's RuinTen Triple IPA W/ Orange Peel & Vanilla Bean and their w00tstout variant with sour cherries & coffee, and they were both really good.

And I'm not even usually a fan of Stone's stuff.

I'm not a huge Stone fan either, but w00tstout this year is fantastic, beats the shit out of KBS

i don't think anything really changes with the FB buyout, their focus for a long time has been distribution. Maybe if they use a bad contract brewer to produce their beers for out of state distribution. I like a lot of their beers but they have consistency issues.

Just popped open a Two Beers 2014 Fall Line imperial russian stout. I had another bottle from this batch, back when it was new.

It's a bit weird for an imperial russian stout. Doesn't have the same "thickness" that they tend to have, but it's still very strong. Dark toastedness coming through like crazy. Matured in brandy barrels, weirdly enough. Three years on, some alcohol heat still comes through... but I can't say I mind.

Either way, I remember really liking it then, and I'm really liking it right now.

Tried this beer called Still Fleek from Stillwater Artisanal Ales.

Aside from the tacky name this stout was lowkey nice lol.

Same brewery as Extra Dry, right? Solid stuff, only drank it when I was in the States though, don't think I've ever seen anything from Stillwater in Europe unfortunately.

Had my first Coors Light today. Tasted like Stale Watery Beer. No head, no fizz, crack or pop, just a shitty beer. For $99 I got what I paid fer.

Going to Los Angeles for work this week. Staying near LAX. Working downtown. Any suggestions on a good pub? Ideally near LAX but I'm guessing it may be a wasteland...

This may be a really silly question. I know nothing about LA.

You can sometimes find stuff. Hugely overpriced here, though.

Honest Brew sell a bunch of Stillwater. It's not worth the price over here when Cloudwater/Verdant etc are better and cheaper tbh.

..actually this kinda applies to all the US imports I've had. some of them are very good, but not noticably better than what you can get in Europe, and priced far higher.

Well, at least in Germany, for a lot of styles that's a very recent development. Used to be hard to get something on the level of the US stuff.

Now we're all spoiled. And Cloudwater doesn't even make it over here.

I've had some good German IPAs recently, seems like it took a while to get over there as a style though, you like your traditions :)

Fuerst Wiacek was the brewery, from Berlin I think.

Yeah, they are very hyped, but super small. Don't have their own brewery and I haven't gotten the chance to try them yet.

I'm just happy that I can get dependable IPAs somewhat easily these days. That wasn't the case even 2 years ago.

My QB is a Dick and my coach is a Nutt
Jesus. Just got five badges on my last Untappd checkin. Don't think I ever got so many unexpectedly on one check in before.

Thanks to the bump to 100 on all of the badges, my last check in gave me 140 badges (Photogenic and Land of the Free jumped straight to 100, IPA to 90).

Also, know this was mainly last page, but I am Screaming_Gremlin on Untappd as well.

I have much less than you Riotous but I don't check in everything, especially many repeat beers unless the batch seems different.

I had no idea they bumped it to 100 until tonight. When did that happen?

I'll likely never try any of those beers that go for $400+ in the aftermarket (like vanilla militia) but I'm OK with that, lol.

Is that VM good? Ever tried Bottle Logic Fundamental Observation? That's the best vanilla beer I've had.

I've been lucky to have gone to several Dark Lord Days and this year had a group of about 6 guys so we we're able to get all of these direct and not have to go to the secondary market.

The Vanilla Milita was actually my least favorite of the three, I heard 2016 was better as it was aged in congac instead of muscat barrels.

The Handjee was sublime, and the Chemtrailmix tasted like Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Can only drink so much of these super sweet stouts though.

I haven't got to try FO, but have heard good things about it.

Had a lot of tasty stuff last weekend down in Seattle, hoping for a repeat this weekend in Portland!

Had a nice Nitro ESB, a good Gose, a decent DIPA all from local Seattle/Washington breweries I hadn't sampled from previously (Rooftop, Reuben's and Walking Man respectively)

Of course I also had some Hop Valley and Rainier while watching baseball, and plenty of what was apparently Two Beers Evo IPA ($5 pints) in the beer garden just outside Key Arena enjoying the sun while watching Dota2 lol

Now to get ready for some Oregon beers before I'm back to drinking just water and coffee for a few months :(

I was just in Oregon (from the Midwest). I was only there for 2 full days, so I didn't get to check out as many breweries as I would have liked, but my favorite was Breakside Brewery. I highly recommend checking it out if you get the chance.

Breakside's new Brew Lab is really awesome. I'd also recommend hitting up Upright, The Commons, Wayfinder, Great Notion, ExNovo and Hair of the Dog.
